The Alphas Reincarnation Stats of a Wolf

Chapter 5: The Clan of Beasts

The Clan of Beasts

Ryu stood still, his fur rippling with tension as the distant howl echoed again, a sharp reminder that danger was always lurking just beyond the horizon. His heightened senses, now finely tuned to his new abilities, pinpointed the direction of the sound—a dense thicket not far from where he stood.

He had barely taken a step toward the noise when a rustle from the underbrush caught his attention. Instinctively, Ryu's claws slid from their sheaths, ready for whatever new threat awaited him. But what emerged from the shadows wasn't a foe—it was a figure, hunched and struggling, clearly exhausted.

A beastman, but not one like Ryu. This one was smaller, his fur a mix of grey and brown, with long ears like that of a fox and a thin, wiry frame. His eyes were wild, desperate, and his breathing shallow. Behind him, the sound of human voices reached Ryu's ears—a group of hunters, too close for comfort.

The Rescue

Ryu's instincts flared. He wasn't sure why, but something inside him stirred. He couldn't let this creature fall into the hands of the humans. Without a second thought, Ryu dashed forward, silently closing the distance between himself and the beastman. The humans were getting closer, but Ryu was faster.

With a single swipe of his claws, he tore through the bushes, landing squarely in front of the beastman. The human hunters stopped, startled by Ryu's sudden appearance. They raised their weapons, but Ryu's eyes burned with intensity. The crystal's glow flared within him as he readied himself to strike.

The first hunter lunged, but Ryu moved faster, his claws cutting through the air with surgical precision. He tore through the hunter's defenses, leaving him incapacitated with a single blow. The other hunters hesitated, unsure whether to attack or flee. But before they could make a decision, Ryu had already turned his attention to the injured beastman.

A New Ally

"Come on!" Ryu growled, his voice low but filled with urgency. "We need to move—now!"

The beastman, still dazed from his run and the injuries he had sustained, glanced up at Ryu, eyes wide with both fear and gratitude. He nodded weakly and struggled to his feet, leaning against a tree for support.

"Th-thank you," the beastman stammered, his voice hoarse. "I didn't think I'd survive."

"Don't mention it," Ryu replied curtly, glancing back at the hunters, who were retreating now, having realized they were no match for Ryu's speed and strength. But Ryu couldn't afford to let his guard down. He had to ensure the beastman was safe.

"Who are you?" Ryu asked, turning his focus back to his companion.

"My name is Fenn," the beastman replied. "I'm part of a clan, just beyond the river. I was… I was on a mission for them, but I was ambushed. The humans—"

"I know," Ryu interrupted. "We don't have time for details. Let's move."

With that, Ryu led the way, keeping to the shadows as they moved deeper into the forest. The journey took longer than Ryu had anticipated, but the beastman, Fenn, seemed to know the terrain well, guiding Ryu with a surprising sense of direction despite his injuries.

The Clan's Territory

As they crossed a narrow river, the dense forest began to clear, and Ryu could sense the change in the air. The trees were taller here, the ground richer with the smell of other creatures. And then, in the distance, Ryu saw them—a series of makeshift dwellings, their wooden structures blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings.

The clan.

Fenn led him to a small clearing near the entrance, where a pair of guards stood watch. Their eyes immediately locked onto Fenn, and their expressions softened, recognizing him.

"Fenn! You're back!" one of the guards called out, rushing forward to help him.

"I'm not the only one coming back," Fenn replied, a slight grin on his face despite the exhaustion. He looked back at Ryu. "This is the one who saved me. His name is Ryu."

The guards eyed Ryu curiously, sizing him up. It wasn't uncommon for a beastman to save another, but Ryu was different—he wasn't just any beastman. His form was larger, more intimidating, and there was something about him that felt… different. But the guards, after a brief moment of hesitation, nodded and stepped aside.

The Clan's Welcome

Ryu followed Fenn into the heart of the clan's territory. The other members, mostly beastmen of various kinds, watched him with curiosity but kept their distance. Ryu didn't mind. He wasn't here to make friends; he was here to survive and learn.

Fenn led him to a large central building, where a wise, older beastman awaited them. This new figure had a deep brown pelt, streaked with silver, and his eyes were sharp, reflecting a lifetime of experience.

"You must be the one who saved Fenn," the elder said, his voice calm but filled with authority. "We thank you for your actions, Ryu."

"It was nothing," Ryu replied, though the gratitude in his voice was genuine. "I was just passing through."

The elder's gaze softened, and he gestured for Ryu to sit. "You're welcome here, but I sense you're not just passing through. You have the aura of someone who's been chosen for something greater."

Ryu's ears perked. Chosen for something greater? The words echoed in his mind, reminding him of the crystal's message: The Alpha's destiny is not to follow, but to lead.

"I'm just trying to survive," Ryu said, though doubt lingered in his mind.

The elder nodded knowingly. "We all seek survival, but sometimes survival leads us to places we never expected. You'll find your way here, Ryu. But for now, rest. You've earned it."

Living Among the Clan

As the days passed, Ryu found himself slowly integrating into the clan's way of life. He was trained in their customs, taught their ways of hunting, and even shared in their meals. The bond between Ryu and Fenn grew as they spent more time together, and slowly, Ryu began to realize something.

The clan, while small, was powerful. Their unity, their understanding of the wild, and their strength in numbers made them a force to be reckoned with. And now, Ryu was part of it.

But deep within, Ryu knew that this was only the beginning. The world outside the clan's walls was still full of threats, dangers, and challenges that only an Alpha could face. He had come here to survive, yes—but perhaps he had come for something more.

And in this clan, with Fenn by his side, Ryu would grow, adapt, and continue to shape his destiny.

Cliffhanger Ending

As Ryu settled into the clan's life, a distant rumble echoed from beyond the trees. A new danger? A rival clan? Ryu's senses sharpened as he stood up, a deep growl rising in his throat.

The journey was far from over.
