Chapter 20: Powerful young girl - I
The boy practically inhaled his food. Not that Victoria could blame him for doing so, she was hungry herself and had done the same in her room.
"Did you give her what she wanted?" She asked after sometime making the boy freeze for a quick second before he resumed eating.
"No." He muttered quietly.
Victoria scoffed and eyed the boy. It was obvious that he was rich, otherwise there was no reason for him to be kidnapped by the woman.
By the looks of it, he was also quite healthy, meaning he looked after himself and that must make him intelligent enough to understand the kind of situation that he was in.
"You are being stupid." She said pointedly. "Why would you not do as she says? You could get out of here soon and take me with you."
It was obvious that if his father was coming to take his boy away, Victoria could tag along. For all she cared, they could put her in the trunk until they reached her apartment.
Finishing off the burger, as he chewed his last bite, he stared at her before narrowing his eyes. "Is that what is it about? You want to leave with me?"
"Why not?" She felt slightly ashamed of admitting her selfish reasons out loud but it had to be done. "I would do the same as well. If my parents come, I will take you with me."
"I haven't they come yet? Why hasn't she called your parents?"
Victoria blinked in slight shock. That line of questioning was not something she expected.
"I—"
He looked at her even more intensely than before. Like he was reading whatever was going in her mind like an open book.
"It's because your parents can't come. I have been with that girl before, and she yelled about how her dad could be of everyone. You don't," he pointed his finger at her, "and that's because you know they won't be able to."
Her cheeks burnt, and so did her neck. The humiliation she felt was real just like it happened in school and now it happened at the house that she was being forcefully kept in.
Being shamed for being poor was something that just happened everywhere, didn't it?
"Is that why you have been feeding me? So that you can bank on the fact that my father is going to come here. That is the reason why you repeatedly tell me to break my silence."
A tear slipped out of her eye at the words that cut deep inside her.
"You—"
"Here," she passed him the antibiotic, "my job for today is done. And since my evil plans are revealed, I think I should come here again."
As she stood up, she felt numb. No longer was the sadness embedded inside her heart that she felt when she was called out for being poor, it was nothing inside.
Halfway to the door, she turned around to face him. "I don't know if it's all rich things like this or just certain people that I have met until now, but you are yet to learn how the world works."
She chuckled sadly, "It is pitiful that you cannot even accept help without thinking what the other person might be gaining."
"Isn't it always that way?"
Victoria shrugged. "I don't really care. If I get out of here, and I can take you with me I will do it."
She didn't say what she wanted him to do, the boy looked around her age, meaning he was intelligent enough to make her own decisions but if he chose not to, she couldn't do anything about it.
Resigning to fate, she moved out of the door and was about to close it when a thought popped into her mind.
With a wicked grin, Victoria peeped into the room and the boy looked at her.
"You are not in as intelligent as you think you are,"
"Yeah?"
She nodded, "yes, because you just lost your food privileges because of your stupidity."
Slamming the door shut and locking it, Victoria moved up stairs without a flicker of remorse. It was time these rich kids understood the meaning of the word 'consequence'.
