The Bad Boy's Promise

Chapter 4: Kidnapped - II

Ghost?

Slowly, Victoria turned around to look at who it was who had spoken from behind her. As far as she knew the room was empty.

She found him in the other corner of the room. A boy may be the same age as her, lying and half sitting on the floor against the wall staring at her through half-closed eyes.

She gulped. "Are you.. are you kidnapped too?"

"Maybe," he rasped, "but not for long."

Lightly frowning at what he said and not understanding, Victoria moved closer to him. It was then she realised that he was bleeding from that one but various places.

He had a wound on his cheek, lip, and head and his eye were swollen shut.

"These," she pointed at the wounds on his face, "are not enough to kill you but I'm sure they hurt very badly."

He scoffed. "Not that." He shook his head and lifted something off his chest, "this."

Her eyes trailed down and she gasped when she saw it. "Oh god.. a k-knife?"

It was a knife that was still stuck inside his chest. It had not been taken out which would be a good thing in case he was getting medical attention.

"You.." what to do, what to do…

She knew what to do. The hospital her mother worked at was a public one and the rules were damned over there.

In fact there were so many patients that they had to, at times, conduct the surgery with curtains as barriers in the ER and not the OT.

"Hey," she lightly tapped over his knee, " you are still bleeding. I can try to control the blood if you want."

She waited for the reply but his eyes rolled back to his head making Victoria snap into action.

She pulled off the handkerchief that she always carried with her and placed it around the knife before pressing down on it.

"Sorry," apologised when the boy groaned in pain, " but we need the blood to stop and clot."

She kept on applying the pressure on the world as if it was her life that was depending on it and not his.

"It hardly matters." He rasped out. "they're going to repeat it and then.."

"Then?"

He opened his eyes slightly and his left twisted into a smirk, "not getting out of here… alive."

Was this a hired actor or was he someone like her who had been kidnapped by them?

"They hit you?" She repeated but more so to herself. If they continued on hitting him, then there was no way he would survive.

She gulped again and looked at the boy to find him passed out.

'Focus,' she told herself. If the boy was saved then they could work their way out of here together. At least she could hope that the boy would pay her kindness too.
