The Beast Tamer Is A Slime

Charlie's whole face flushed red and sweat flowed down his cheeks. 

"I— I— I'm innocent! I don't know anything! I really didn't smuggle out anything!" 

Charlie's voice broke and he was about to piss himself on the spot. 

He was trembling so hard that he couldn't even raise his hands above his head. 

Unfortunately, the two inspectors ignored his plea and forcefully snatched his backpack. 

John and the other teammates who were still waiting for Charlie to finish his inspection, all looked at the boy with wide eyes. 

"Wait, wait, wait, there must be a misunderstanding here. That boy is just a porter we hired!" 

Lina quickly walked to the two inspectors holding a gun, but the gatekeepers who were standing next to [The Gates] blocked her way. 

"Miss, please don't get too close to the hunter being inspected. Otherwise, we will regard you as an accomplice!" 

One of the gatekeepers sneered at Lina while cursing Charlie for being deceptive. 

He looked like a good boy, but he actually smuggled out a beast. 

If he didn't smuggle out a wild beast, why would he not openly show the beast he contracted? 

He must be guilty! 

"No, sir— " 

Remy and Daniel also tried to reason with the other gatekeeper, but these two gatekeepers stood firm in front of them like a black wall. 

The atmosphere between the six hunters and the six officers suddenly heated up. 

Everyone secretly clenched their weapons and even John clenched his dagger, quietly looking at Charlie who was staring at his snatched backpack with blank eyes. 

John had the urge to just attack these guards, but they belonged to the [Dungeon Management Bureau]. 

Even if these people were just at a city level, the bureau was one of the biggest powerhouses in the entire world. 

Can't afford to offend. 

John gritted his teeth and tried to calm down his impulse to protect Neo and Charlie. 

At the same time, the two inspectors started to check Charlie's backpack thoroughly. 

One of them went to check the screen at the back of the inspection machine to see the scanned image, while the other rummaged through Charlie's backpack. 

There were not many things inside Charlie's backpack, and the only precious thing was the cylinder tube with two slime corpses inside— 

And a little cockroach that no one saw.  

When the inspector in charge of checking Charlie's belongings found the suspicious cylinder tube, he immediately took it out of Charlie's backpack. 

At the same time, the other inspector came to the second inspector with a scanned picture in his hand. 

The other hunters, including Charlie and John, subconsciously held their breath. 

The atmosphere was tense, as if a storm was brewing. 

But...something was wrong. 

Charlie, who was the closest to the two inspectors, could see the two inspectors' bewildered faces. 

"Look at this scanned picture. The so-called living thing...yes, over here. This small dot..." 

The inspector with a scanned picture twitched his lips while the other inspector subconsciously looked at the cylinder tube in his hand. 

He also saw the "dot" that his colleague pointed at in the scanned picture. 

....

Silence. 

Complete silence. 

Charlie even had a deja vu that this kind of silence had definitely happened before. 

The two inspectors looked at each other, speechless, and they couldn't help but clear their throat to cover up their embarrassment.  

"Cough. Cough. It's like this, the living being that the machine detected..." 

The second inspector handed over the cylinder tube to Charlie and pointed at the motionless cockroach hidden among the slime corpses. 

"It's this thing. Hahaha...your tube might not be clean before you enter the dungeon, so you bring out this thing..." 

The inspector quickly made up an excuse for Charlie and also tried to restore their credibility. 

"I don't know why this thing is still alive, but it will die soon without oxygen, anyway." 

Unlike a slime that could still live inside the tightly sealed cylinder tube without oxygen. 

That's why they thought the boy was hiding a living slime inside the cylinder tube...

But there were only dead slime corpses with no cores. 

It was all a misunderstanding!

Charlie was proven innocent, but the boy was still looking up at the inspectors with red eyes. 

The poor boy was about to cry! 

The inspectors saw Charlie's pitiful look and immediately felt even more guilty than before. 

They quickly packed up the cylinder tube without taking out the cockroach inside the tube and stuffed the transparent tube back into the backpack. 

"There you go, boy. It's just a misunderstanding. You only bring a few slime corpses too— "

One of the inspectors, the one holding the scanned picture, couldn't help but try to make amends to the poor hunter. 

"We can waive your tax. Anyway, you only got two slime corpses and not even a slime core." 

The inspector tried to make Charlie feel better by waiving the tax, but Charlie became even more depressed. 

He knew that he was weak and could only snatch two slime corpses, okay! No need to tell him out loud! 

Charlie bit his lips as he hugged the oversized backpack that almost covered his whole body. 

"T-then, then, officer, c-can I go..."

Charlie choked and tears had already started to roll down his eyes. 

The whole person was like a listless eggplant. 

Even his curly dark brown hair also withered, just like its owner. 

The two inspectors couldn't bear to look at Charlie who looked exactly like an abandoned puppy. 

"Okay, okay, don't cry! Just go! Go!"

They eagerly waved their hands at the young boy. 

"You're such a crybaby!" 

The first inspector scolded Charlie out of guilt, and the second inspector also looked impatient to go back to the inspection machine. 

"There you go! We're leaving!" 

The two people "ran away" faster than Charlie, leaving the boy alone with his oversized backpack. 

The moment the two inspectors left, the two gatekeepers who were blocking the hunters' path also returned to their post beside [The Gate]. 

Without any obstruction, the hunters, especially John, immediately rushed to Charlie!
