Chapter 16: Chapter 16 Detention and Rewards 2/3
"I understand the situation now, Mr. Kenway, but nonetheless, I must give you an appropriate punishment. I will discuss it with the teachers and the parents of those involved. I assure you that I will notify you of your punishment soon, George. Please," the principal said, gesturing for George and me to leave the room. However, I could still hear inside.
"So, let's talk about compensation for Tam and her family. Obviously, as a serious school, we do not tolerate any kind of activity associated with bullying or racism," the principal commanded.
As we exited the principal's office, I heard George speaking beside me, "When we leave the school, we'll talk about this," Big George said to me, and I nodded in agreement. "Finish your classes first. We'll talk in the car," he said as he walked off in a direction between the school's mailboxes.
As the day at school progressed, everything was somewhat normal, aside from the constant pointing and gossip circulating around, and the force field that seemed to make people move away from me in fear.
Arriving at George's car, both Georges were looking at me with a strange gleam in their eyes. Then, George Jr. spoke, "Dude, is it true what the rumors say?" he asked, with an aggressively expectant look on his face. I replied, "Depends on what they're saying, but yeah, most of it is true." As I said this, a joyous laugh came from Little George beside me. He said, "Dude, you have no idea. Just because you're my cousin, I have access to so many girls now. You gotta teach me some kung fu moves!" George Jr. said excitedly.
As the car started, while we were on the way, I heard a deep and serious voice, which surprised me coming from a man like Big George.
"Connor," said George, and I asked, "What?" He replied in a serious tone, "Good job. I'm proud of you," he said, then fell silent. Seeing how much effort he had to put into those words that had never been said before by him, I nodded and said, "I did what needed to be done, what should be normal to do..." I whispered the last part.
When we arrived at the Cooper's house, Sheldon had already arrived, Mary was cooking, and Little Missy was with Grandma Connie.
Obviously, since Big George was at the school, Mary hadn't received any messages, and she was unaware of what had happened at school.
After dinner, I took a shower and went straight to my room. I saw my dog in the corner and said, "How was your day today, buddy? Did you have fun?" I said, petting his oddly shaped head. I lay on the bed with my arms crossed behind my head and said aloud to myself, "Status." Then, a translucent black window appeared in front of me.
