Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Moment of panic
DAISY JOYCE
The following morning, I was softly awakened by one of the maids. I quickly jumped into the bath, and shortly after, I spotted Assistant Moore making his way toward the garage. I dashed down the stairs to catch up with him.
"But, Sir Moore," I objected, "it's too early to head out. I believe we should wait until later. I haven't even had breakfast yet."
"It should have been delayed," he replied calmly, "but the young master's sister is visiting today. We must ensure everything is ready on time to avoid raising any suspicions."
I understood, but I still wasn't fully prepared for the day ahead. "Alright, let's go," I sighed, and we set off.
Before we reached the shopping mall, Moore made a detour to a store named Sim Slot to get a SIM card registered for me, then we proceeded to a phone shop where I felt overwhelmed by the options available.
After a while spent on the setup, he handed me the phone he had selected, an iPhone 16 Pro. It looked so different from the devices my parents had owned — I couldn't help but feel slightly anxious about it.
"This is the latest model," he explained, demonstrating how to navigate the functions. Even though I had heard of iPhones before, the circular button I remembered seemed outdated.
However, within just a few moments of practice, I felt elated as I began to master its use. I downloaded numerous apps and snapped countless selfies, feeling thankful for this small joy in my life.
Upon arriving at the mall, we were greeted warmly by the manager, and I selected a few items I thought I could purchase using the black card that Damond had given me. "That's not sufficient," Moore said playfully, but I was cautious.
"But the money won't last long enough," I countered, wanting to save some for later.
"Gather all the most beautiful and elegant bags and clothes," he instructed one of the staff members. I gasped in disbelief. "I really can't afford this much; can we return some items?"
He chuckled softly as he added various makeup and skincare products to the growing collection.
"You deserve to treat yourself," he said kindly. Part of me felt overwhelmed, but a wave of excitement surged through me as I embraced the fact that it was time to enjoy life a little.

As I settled into my office, having a meeting with a few clients, my sister called.
I immediately recognized her voice, as the call was unexpected.
"Hello, brother! I'll be at your place in an hour. I hope your wife is at home; I'm eager to see her!"
"Yes, she is," I replied, a touch of nervousness creeping in as I lied, "but she's just resting."
"Okay, I'll see you soon!" she said cheerfully before hanging up. I quickly called my assistant to make sure everything was ready.

The employees were already wrapping up the clothes and other items we had purchased when Moore's phone began ringing.
"Hello, boss! We've just finished shopping and are on our way," he said before contacting the bodyguards to assist in loading my items into the car.
As we drove home, my mind raced with thoughts about how to present myself to Damond's sister.
I nervously searched online for advice on how a wife should act in front of the family to steer clear of any mistakes.
The idea of having to kiss and hug him in front of his family made my heart race. Would I be able to handle that?
I reassured myself that it would be alright, especially considering I would be compensated. Just once today shouldn't be too difficult.
"Oh, and Sir Moore," I suddenly recalled, "I'd like to open a bank account."
"Perhaps another time," he responded gently. "We don't have much time; his sister will be here soon."
"Okay," I murmured, a bit disappointed but understanding the urgency.
We arrived home just in time. I took a moment to freshen up, and the maids arranged everything in my closet.
I pulled out my new phone to practice what I had learned when I suddenly heard a voice from below. "I'm home, sister-in-law!"
A wave of panic rushed over me. I leaped out of bed, my heart racing. I felt so inexperienced and uncertain; I had never encountered a situation like this before.
But as I took a deep breath to steady my nerves, I realized I had to face this challenge. I could do it. I stepped out of my room, ready to greet her with a smile, despite my anxieties.
