The Boys-A needle in a haystack

Chapter 7: 7

Low music, dim lights and the smell of cigarettes burning near a pool table surrounded By cuts. Who's eyes never left The man dressed up in a beat up brown leather jacket sitting at the bar.

His finger tapped the cracked wooden counter Twice, as a Bald white man grunted as he slung a stained tablecloth over his tatted shoulder of an American flag. Giving him a nasty look, crossing his arms he spoke."You gonna run me dry Major, That's it for you."

Shane glanced at his oldest friend, Bobby Stone who grew up with him and served alongside him."I'll say when I'm done, get me another Bobby."

With a shake of his head and sigh, Bobby grabbed a bottle of scotch That sat on ice, squeezed between two Modelos. Before placing it right infront of Shane."Listen…Can't say I know what your going through but…. where family."Bobbys words hanged in the air accompanied by the low music, for a moment it was quiet between them until the sounds of Bobby sighing broke it shaking his head, Bobby left Shane with his words as he went towards a door leading to the back.

'Family huh?' Feeling the cold bottle in the grip of his hands, Shane watched as the moisture dripped down the surface all the way to his hand. Watching the process repeat itself Shane, popped it open and took a swig.

'The only family I knew is gone.'

With a cough Shane stumbled through the alleyway, of queens holding a brown bag covering a bottle. 'How did it get to this point, maybe it was the alcohol no….'gritting his teeth Shane slapped his head, trying to rid himself of these thoughts.

Leaning against the wall, pictures of his wife and daughter tombstones resurfaced in his mind, turning his head another image rose of termite, drenched in their blood laughing.

Slamming his fist into the wall, as he panted angrily suddenly the sounds of running flew into Shane's ear.looking back Shane saw a young girl dressed in an oversized hoodie, being chased by two men.

Her eyes met with Shane's, as tears began to fall as she shouted. "Help me!Please!"The closer she got Shane, could see bruises scattered on her face while blood dripped down her chin. Narrowing his eyes she rushed behind Shane, before he could answer. Now catching up Shane got a better look at the men chasing her.

Dressed in all black, they where armed to the teeth glaring at Shane they stopped right infront of him." Hand over the girl and forget she was ever here."one spoke as he approached Shane, not waiting for him to answer which slowly Shane was getting tired of.

Glancing back at the girl who was shaking in place, not knowing what to do Shane knew if she would have ran she would have most likely gotten caught.just as the man was an arm distance away, she shut her eyes tight.

"Don't know who you are, and I don't care but this don't sit right with me."Shane's hand gripped down onto his shoulder, stopping him in place as she snapped her eyes open in shock.

"Your going to regret this."the man said coldly.

"I won't ."tighting his grip on the bottle Shane swung it onto his head, as the glass shattered onto his face.in a split second Shane pushed him to his partner, who had his Gun aimed at Shane's head. Catching him off guard as the man grabbed him, shane pulled out his pistols, as the man's eyes widened it was too late. Pushing the triggers the bullets pierced through their skulls, splattering the surface of the walls and ground with their blood.

Their bodies fell towards the ground, as the smell of gun powder lingered in the air. Hearing a sharp cry, Shane turned around towards The mysterious girl who fell to her knees crying. Pushing her dirty hands to her face she bawled."Thank you!Thank you!"her words came out muffled, as she wiped her eyes.

Kneeling down Shane, held her shoulders."don't thank me, are you alright?"with a shake of her head, out of nowhere she hugged Shane widing his eyes he froze.
