Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Prologue
In the deathly jungles of E Country, two wraith-like petite figures darted through the woods.
Behind the woman in front, the other woman wore a cold expression as she gently pulled out a silenced pistol from her waist.
The next second, a cold bullet pierced the biting cold wind and hit the heart of the woman in front directly, eliciting a muffled groan as her body fell heavily to the ground.
"Why?"
The hand pressing against her heart was already soaked in blood, and the woman shooted by the other struggled to prop herself up, incredulous and pained as she looked at her friend who normally appeared obedient and smiling, but now displayed only a face filled with bone-chilling coldness; she couldn't accept that the one who betrayed her was the dear sister she was willing to give her all for.
"Ling Xi, do you know, I actually really despise you," the woman said, a slight smile playing on her lips despite the overwhelming disgust and heart-wrenching hatred in her eyes, "If it weren't for you, Anran would surely have liked me. So, as long as you're gone, he will definitely fall for me, he must!"
By the end, her voice was filled with a sinister tone, and her eyes were brimming with ruthless ferocity as she looked at Ling Xi.
If it weren't for the need to get closer to Anran, she would never have demeaned herself to become so-called good sisters with her.
Yet, she treated Anran better than Ling Xi did, she liked him more, but why? Anran was still hopelessly in love with Ling Xi, blind to her kindness;
If that was the case, then she might as well erase Ling Xi's existence; once she was gone, Anran would be in pain, and then she could gently comfort him, stay by his side, until he gradually forgot Ling Xi, forgot her completely, and fell in love with her, only her!
Each time she entertained this thought, she couldn't help but want to take action, but Ling Xi was far too skilled for her, and with her own status and skill, she wasn't qualified to undertake missions with Ling Xi, so she begged Ling Xi to talk to their superiors to let her follow and learn, otherwise, she would never find the chance to strike at her.
"So you like Anran?"
A self-deprecating smile played across Ling Xi's face, her eyes gradually steeped in coldness.
So it turned out that her confidante had approached her with ulterior motives, even coveting her life! What a great pretense!
In fact, she wasn't unaware of Anran's affection for her, but matters of the heart never moved her and she paid them no mind; she never imagined that this would become the reason to have her killed.
Heh, how ridiculous, how pathetic!
The woman, seeing the self-mockery on Ling Xi's face, approached her, her eyes filled with scornful triumph, laughing smugly, "Oh Ling Xi, to think you, the top agent of the organization, would end up killed by an insignificant person like me, Lou Yun; heheheh..."
"Lou Yun, it seems you really don't understand Anran at all."
Suddenly, Ling Xi laughed, a look of sheer relief on her face, "You think Anran will love you if I die, stop dreaming; I'm waiting to see how thoroughly he despises you."
That stubborn Anran, if he could so easily fall for someone else, then she wouldn't have to worry about him; if he could easily love someone else, then she could truly rest easy.
So Anran, please don't do anything foolish!
And I'm sorry, I can't fall in love with you!
If there's a next life, let's be good brothers, okay?
"Now that you're almost dead, I won't quibble with you," Lou Yun said with a sneer that turned into a smug look, watching Ling Xi's strength fade away, "But let me tell you, I will definitely live a happy life with Anran. As for you, heh, just bless us."
"Is that so!" Ling Xi murmured silently.
I will bless Anran, but his other half will definitely not be you.
Gradually, Ling Xi began to close her eyes.
If there's another life, she truly didn't want to live so tiringly! She would live freely and selfishly, for herself alone.
In the moment she closed her eyes, through the haze, Ling Xi thought she saw Anran's figure rushing towards her; it's just a pity that her eyes were now closed forever, never to open again.
The blood from the corners of her mouth trickled down her chin and neck, slowly staining the Deep Sea Tear at her throat. Unnoticed, the Deep Sea Tear absorbed all the blood drop by drop, then completely disappeared without a trace.
