Chapter 143: 3 Vs 1
In response, a column of amber and black flames roared to life around the weapon, its heat palpable as he leveled it at Lunaris, preparing to strike.
Matt knew full well that calling on the Mad King's power would push him to the brink of losing control, but he hesitated with no other option for a swift, decisive strike.
His mind raced, scrambling for alternatives. It had been years since he cast anything outside the Mad King's arsenal, and the mocking laughter of the being echoed within his mind, taunting his reliance.
'You are useless without me, bunny boy.'
'I'm going to kick you back to your mother's womb if you don't shut up.'
Before the Mad King could respond, Zenos stepped forward, spinning his scythe in a blur of black and ashen blue. The swirling haze it created rippled through the air, and his smirk unnerved Lunaris.
What unsettled her more, though, was the surge of power radiating from him—far beyond anything she had witnessed. His strength had ascended to a level that could rival the most powerful conjurors across the continent.
"From the boundless heavens where you belong, all shall be rendered unto me… Your dominion is unassailable, the pure embodiment of Anarchy itself!" shouted Zenos, his voice booming throughout the room.
A shiver ran down the dragoness's spine, though it was not from fear—it was excitement. Her lips curled into a smile as a powerful idea took root in her mind.
She had found the perfect spell to unleash against the moonlit being, one that would earn her and her team a solid victory.
"Into the Lands of Null, where no life breathes and no light dwells. The void, where hope withers and despair dies. The Abyss calls forth your name… entwined with Gorgon's gaze, it is bound to me. Together, we await your downfall!" called out Mavislin.
She raised her blade above her right shoulder, feeling its weight as she began to invoke the spell. As she poured more mana into the katana, the energy surged through her, amplifying its presence.
This was no mere training exercise; she had never unleashed this spell against a real adversary, only experimenting with Venom's glowing mana spheres. Those orbs served as gauges for her spell's potential.
The last time she had cast this spell on one, it had shattered under the immense force.
"As the Tempest collides with the dying light, the Beast of Pandamonium shall ascend, unmatched and eternal, casting its shadow upon this world forevermore!" continued the Viceroy, as he threw up his spinning scythe.
As the maniacal cackle grew louder, Matt was pressed for time. Before he could gather his thoughts and focus on a spell, Mavislin had already begun her incantation, her voice steady and unwavering.
That's when it clicked for the rabbit—that spell. Even though it was still a rough copy, it had the potential to deal enough damage to Lunaris. He had already used it once, against a weakened version of Cerberus, and the results were devastating.
Overloaded with the power of darkness, the Hound of the Underworld had been unable to withstand such overwhelming levels of despair. Now, he hoped it would be just as effective against the moonlit Commander.
"Feel the wrath of lies surging in my sword. This is the disdain and hatred of the God of Evil, Destruction, and Darkness," chanted Mattheos as he prepared to fire up his spell.
The rabbit's stance was the opposite of his boss; his blade was pointed downward to his right side, ready for a diagonal strike from bottom to top.
"I will corrupt the world with sickness and death with this one swing. I will taint the world with filth and despair. No hope shall blossom anymore..." said the rabbit, nodding at his teammates.
Just as Matt and Mavislin prepared to unleash their spells, the Viceroy's spinning scythe transformed into a massive pair of holographic dragon wings, dark and shimmering with a blue hue.
"Divine Sundering!" shouted Lunaris as she threw her amplified sword forward.
The blade was like a giant spear, engulfed with an ethereal glow of both white and faded blue, as opposed to the trio's dark elements.
"With Wings Aligned!" shouted Zenos, motioning for his 'wings' to shine brightly to defend against Lunaris's final attack.
As the blade collided with the wings, a dazzling explosion of black, white, and shades of blue illuminated the battlefield, sending tremors rippling through the ground.
Without hesitating, Mavislin and Matt soared upward, propelling themselves forward while using the ethereal wings as a shield against the moonlit blade. Pushing back the attack, the two members were at arm's length to their enemy.
"Angra Mainyu's World Evil!" Mattheos shouted, unleashing a slash of pure darkness tinged with an amber hue.
"Gorgon's Twilight!" Mavislin roared, releasing a tear of pure darkness that shimmered with a violet hue.
