Chapter 5: Sports Festival (2)

The sun rose as I finished reassembling a [10mm Pistol] for the twentieth time. I had stayed up the entire night reviewing my weapons, ensuring they were in top condition and fully loaded. I was modifying some to be a bit better than others in certain situations. But, no matter how much I prepared, something was telling me that the day would end in bloodshed.

I sighed, feeling slightly tired but knowing that a few mutations I had here and there would make it so that it wouldn't be an issue. Just as the sun lazily rose into the sky, I got dressed in my usual attire, that being my [Elite Riot Gear]. As I sat on my bed, lacing my boots tight, a knock sounded on my door.

.

"It's open!" I called out as I inspected the knife I kept hidden in my boot as the door slid open.

"Good morning!" The small stature and slightly squeaky voice of Nezu replied as the chimera walked in. "How goes your preparations for today?" He asked as he held two coffee cups in his hands.

"Good, Power Loader and I got the [Paintball Minigun] working a few nights ago and I've made sure that it can withstand constant use for a few hours," I answered him, putting away the knife, and took one of the two coffees he offered to me. "But I can't get the feeling that blood will be shed before the day's out," I said as I took a sip of the beverage.

"How sure are you of this?" He asked as he sipped his coffee.

"Almost positive." I sighed, "Look, I know you can't just go off a gut feeling. But, I know something is going to happen. I can just feel it."

"I understand that this feeling is due to your experience, is that correct?" I nodded. "Then I have the security be on high alert during the festival. It's the least I can do without a positive threat."

"Thank you," I told him and downed my coffee.

.

After our conversation, Nezu left. I just sighed and went to go make sure that everything was prepared in case something did happen. Nothing wrong with backup plans if things went south.

I could hear the loudmouth Cockatiel known as Present Mic screaming from where I stood waiting for the race to start. Around me were robots armed with paint projectiles. All awaiting my command for them to open fire on any student that was dumb enough to charge us head-on. And a picture of a particular pomeranian student appeared before my eyes, I let out a chuckle. I knew the kid well enough that he'll respond harshly to any insult, thrown his way or not.

Thankfully, I was given a pad so I could tune in to watch the beginning. And after Midnight's erotic sauter up to the stage to get the male viewers raring to go, I wasn't surprised by Bakugo's speech. I swear that boy has a god complex. And since I was a teacher to that brat now, it was my job to squash it. Maybe a paintball or two to the face will humble him. That, or a body full of bruises should do the trick.

Time ticked by as I waited for them to start the first event, an obstacle course race. The race consisted of five obstacles in total. The first was the gate they had to get through without being squished. I just wished I could have stationed myself there for some fun on my part.

The second obstacle was a mud pit that they had to cross without falling in. This wouldn't have been that difficult, but the chimera wanted them to struggle. So there were only small stepping stones as a walkway to get through. Another place where my paint would be great at.

The third was a vast and deep pit they had to cross without falling into it. The pathway across were tight ropes that lead to different platforms. There were many different ways to get across the pit. For those that fell into the pit, a net would catch them before they fell too far but they would be disqualified if they fell.

The fourth obstacle was a low-yield minefield. Even I would have trouble here if I was under fire. And thankfully the chimera had a bit of mercy here and didn't post me there.

Finally, the fourth obstacle was a long straightaway where I was posted. Here I was stationed with my little robot crew. Our job was to hinder the leaders to let the rest of the racers catch up. Where I stood was a raised platform where I and my [Paintball Minigun] would rain hell on earth. Getting hit with paint would only slow them down and not disqualify anyone that would get hit.

.

I sighed as I watched the race from the tablet I was given. So far Bakugo and Todoroki were the clear leaders while the rest of class 1-A were right on their tails. Class 1-B was doing well too with many of them mixing in with Class 1-A. But what was surprising was that a few students from the other courses were right in the mix as well. Seeing them, I thought about what quirks they could have that the entrance exam didn't account for. Then again, I was only given the class files for 1-A and 1-B.

It was then I had the urge to use [Vualt-Tec Advanced Targeting System] or [VATS] for short. As the [VATS] slowed down time to a crawl for me, it highlighted everything in a green hue. From the robots that were by my side to the birds in the trees. My eyes roamed from target to target, trying to find out the reason my sixth sense was being triggered. It was then my eyes landed on a dark vortex in the woods to my right.

.

'Shit,' I thought as I dropped [VATS]. 'I knew I was right!'

.

I quickly typed security breach onto my tablet, sent it to Aizawa, and ditched the [Paintball Minigun]. I jumped off the podium I was on and quickly drew my [.357 Magnum Revolver] and rushed to the vortex. Within seconds, an alarm was sounded throughout the school. Pro heroes, both on station and not, became alert and waited for more information before running to the rescue.

I didn't care, I was already at the vortex when the alarm sounded. I waited for whatever came out with several bullets for it. But what came out was a freight train and a half. Which took me by surprise as it picked me up and ran with me right into the track where the students were still racing.

Bakugo was the one in the lead with Todoroki and Midoriya right behind him as they watched as I get sent flying right into their paths. I landed and rolled to my feet, still feeling the pain that the surprise gave me. I ignored them to look at what came out of the vortex.

.

"PUNY HUMANS!" I heard shouted out as I looked up to see a super mutant. "Your heads for the Master's collection!"

"Get back!" I shouted to the racers that were forming up behind the trio. "Get out of here!" I shouted again as I opened fire with my [.357 Magnum Revolver] that I somehow kept in my hand.

.

I knew that .357 would do absolutely nothing to the super mutant unless I hit the eyes or mouth. But then again, it'll most likely piss it off and target me first. Just as I ran out of ammo for my gun, Bakugo came in with a full-blast attack that did nothing but make a smoke screen. I was pissed that he didn't do what he was told, but I shelved that for later as I brought out my [Anti-material Rifle] and waited for the smoke to clear.

Bakugo's mind made it seem like he took out the 'villain' in one shot, but I knew better than to count a super mutant out for the count. So, as Bakugo was busy laughing like a madman, the head of a [Sledgehammer] came out of the smoke and crashed into Bakugo's left side and sent him tumbling. Midoriya looked on with fear clear in his eyes. I, however, took my chance to blow that thing's head off its shoulders.

Alas, my aim was a bit off since I took a chunk of its headcase since I was too close for my rifle. Even with a chunk of its head missing with its brain exposed, that damn thing still came charging at me with its [Slegdehammer] held high. I swore as I rechambered my rifle and stepped back, letting the hammer just barely miss me and my rifle.

As the super mutant brought the hammer into an upper swing, I sidestepped it and leveled my rifle at its head. Before I could fire, All Might came in and punched the super mutant away. I cursed him under my breath and put the mutant into my sight once again. And yet again, I was denied my kill as a wave of fire washed over the mutant, doing almost nothing to it.

.

"Dumbasses!" I shouted and this time ran up to the mutant as it wobbled and took a knee.

.

As I got close to it, I shoulder-checked it to the ground and leveled my rifle point-blank at its shattered skull. I heard a shout that it was over, but I knew better than to let one live. Especially if they're from the Master's army. So without any hesitation, I blew the top of its skull clean off. Dirt and gooey brain matter splattered me and those close by.

.

"Courier Six," All Might spoke in a sad and disproving tone. "There was no need to go so far. The villain was defeated. We could have gotten answers from him."

"Step aside," I stated calmly.

"Six-" He started but I cut him off.

"We've got an injured that needs to be taken care of," I stated as I walked around him only to become face-to-face with a man on fire. 'He reminds me of a match-stick.'

"Boy, when a hero is talking to you, you listen." He growled at me.

"And if you know what I know about that thing, you wouldn't be stopping me, Match-stick," I told him and moved past him, putting away my [Anti-material Rifle].

.

He took that as a challenge and grabbed my shoulder. Now, anyone else would have stopped and looked at the person's offending hand with a clear indication that they might lose it. I, on the other hand, just made sure that he'll watch who he does that to from now on.

I quickly placed one hand on his and gripped it. I heard him grunt from the pain of my grip but didn't stop. With a quick turn, I had his arm behind his back with one hand and the other on the back of his head. Before he could even retaliate, I slammed his head into the ground, hard. Just enough to knock him out, not outright kill him.

Once the deed was done, I made my way over to where Bakugo lay. Recovery Girl, the mild-mannered grandmother of UA, was tending to him with a worried face. I sighed and knelt down next to his conscious form as he lay there putting up a tuff front.

.

"You okay?" I asked him and he returned it with a glare.

"His arm took the brunt of the impact thankfully." Recovery Girl told me as she did her best to make him comfortable. "Other than that, he has several bruised or fractured ribs along with a broken arm."

"That's good," I nodded my head, appearing to care for his well-being. "But," I said as I reached towards his broken arm, "Do that shit again, and you'll can and will come out a lot worse," I growl at him, making sure he knew where I stood.

"AHHHH!!!" Bakugo cried out as he couldn't bare the pain anymore.

"Shut up," I ordered him, and the amount of force I put into my words made him look at me. "I've seen how you look at those around you. The look of those beneath you. But, know this, you are weak. And that pride of yours will get you and others killed if you don't get rid of it. Be humble, accept there are those that are better than you, and accept there will be times when you can't do everything. IF you want to be a hero, learn what it means to be one first." I told him while speaking from the heart. "Got it?"

.

With that, I left him in the care of Recovery Girl. Knowing that there will be questions, I prepared myself for them.
