The Daily Life of the Inventor in Another World

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Marcus Daily Life (3)

"Marcus!!! Let's have lunch together!"

Serafall entered my classroom, a lunchbox in hand.

I lifted my head from my notebook and saw her smiling at me. The students in class were staring at me as if they had just seen me for the first time.

For obvious reasons, I'm much more reclusive in this life than I was in my first one. My school attendance is more of a charade to keep up the appearance of a normal life. Plus, it helps me clear my head and take a break from my workshop.

"Dude! You have a girlfriend!? But you never even leave your desk or talk to anyone!?"

"Yeah! How did this happen!?"

Some of the guys started talking, their faces tinged with jealousy as they looked at Serafall. Her supernatural aura and beauty just drew everyone in.

"Marcus is like, super smart and always at the top of the school rankings~~~ Did you know he's also really good with his hands? Like, really good?" Her words made the girls blush, interpreting it as a sexual innuendo.

"He's even fixing a completely broken car from top to bottom in his free time! He's super cool and hot!" Serafall played the part of the doting girlfriend, making even more people envious.

I decided it was time to leave the room. I quickly packed up my things and walked out, practically feeling the eyes on me, especially when the black-haired devil girl hugged my arm tightly.

"Let's find out what your tastes are, Master~~~" Serafall said as she opened the lunchbox. It was filled with an assortment of sandwiches.

From a glance, I could tell that each one was unique in its own way.

"I've prepared a variety of sandwiches with different flavors. This way, I can figure out what you like, and from there, I'll be able to make even more things you enjoy," she said happily, offering the sandwiches to me.

"Or… you could've just asked me what I like," I replied, picking up a random sandwich.

"Where's the fun in that? Besides, this way, you might discover a new taste you enjoy!" she said, eagerly waiting for me to try it.

"True… Let's see then…"

I took a bite, and the first thing I noticed was the spice that hit my mouth, quickly followed by the soothing sauce.

"This… is… good! I don't usually like spicy food, but this is really tasty! Especially this! It lets me enjoy spicy flavors without burning my mouth. Very impressive! 10/10!" I praised her. The smile she gave me reminded me of a cute animal. If she had a tail, it would definitely be wagging right now.

"I knew you'd like it! Anyway, try this one!" She quickly pulled out another sandwich after I finished the first.

Well, this might actually be a good thing. My school days are pretty dull anyway.

For a moment, I thought about how different this was from my past life. Back then, I only had a few people to talk to, and we mostly discussed cars since no one watched anime or played video games—at least not openly. Talking about that in front of girls was too embarrassing, so we stuck to cars.

But since being reborn in this body, I didn't bother making friends. I had little time for it. Now with magic and the supernatural involved... well, regular people just don't fit into that world. And since I got entangled with the devils, I'd rather not get too close to anyone.

That, however, brought me back to Serafall.

"What do you think? Are they good?" The devil lady interrupted my thoughts, looking at me expectantly.

"They're great. All of them are good, some better than others. I'm guessing you'll be making these every day?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. Since she's spoiling me like this, I won't hold back.

"It all depends on you, remember? You did say I belong to you, no~~~?" she asked with a coy smile.

"Indeed. Then I request this daily, since you started this trend yourself."

"I had to! You were turning into a machine. It was up to Sera to fix it!" she said with a playful grin.

"I see… I suppose I was becoming that way. But that was so I could finish the basics." I sighed.

"Basics? You mean inventing futuristic technology and creating a pantheon-level protection barrier were just the basics?" she asked, shaking her head in disbelief.

"Indeed. One must fortify their base before expanding outward," I said sagely, nodding thoughtfully as I considered the precautions I might need to take if Serafall's actions started raising suspicion.

Actually, it already had raised some suspicion. I heard Sirzechs was looking into her.

"Sera, you mentioned spies yesterday. Has anyone been snooping around you lately?" I asked, my tone serious. Serafall paused in her movements.

"Nothing of concern. Sirzechs only sent some people to investigate my increased speed with paperwork. Naturally, they didn't find anything because there was nothing unusual in my office.

So far, there's nothing that requires action. But… knowing him, he won't stop until he finds something.

In conclusion, we need to prepare something. Otherwise, he might push me to a point where I'll need to have an answer ready for him.

Worst case scenario, he'll send Grayfia to spy on me." Serafall gave me the answer I was expecting. Sirzechs would do something sooner or later.

"Grayfia is an issue. She's a devil from an extra house. My Ars Goetia doesn't affect her. That means I need to come up with a different binding method… A new concept for the binding."

"She's a servant of Lucifer, if I remember correctly. Venelana barely covered the extra houses, since there are so few of them left," I mused, thinking aloud.

"I see. If that's the case, I need to think of countermeasures, in case you need to talk," I said after some thought.

"...Master... I hope you're not planning on making me fight them? I may be strong, but Sirzechs is on an entirely different level…"

"No, nothing like that. You don't need to fight. Ars Goetia will pull you to my side if you fall under suspicion. The plan is for you to reveal that you have a contract with a genius inventor. It'll cause some publicity for me, but it's better than you losing your position.

If it comes to that, we'll figure out future steps once we reach that point. For now, we need to focus on countermeasures in case my location gets discovered." I said, still pondering the best course of action.

Serafall sighed in relief, then thought for a moment.

"Doesn't the Diamond Heart Core make it nearly impossible to pinpoint the coordinates of teleportation?" she asked, her tone thoughtful.

"Not quite. They'd still know the general direction. For example, if you were to teleport from America to here, they'd be able to track the general direction—somewhere between Europe and Asia. That means they'd know it's in Eastern Europe.

It would be even easier if you teleported from the Underworld. Anyone tracking it would know you ended up in Eastern Europe, but they couldn't pinpoint your exact location. Still, it would raise suspicions that you're hiding something."

"...So they'll be suspicious because I'm hiding something…"

"Correct. That's why you need an alibi…"
