Chapter 4
Chapter 4: Demonic Energy (1)
Upon returning to the classroom after leaving the auditorium,
“If you’ve arrived, please take your seats and wait for the others.”
The instructor ordered Jung Minwoo and Rok to sit down.
“Understood.”
As they sat and waited as instructed, the empty classroom soon began to fill with demons.
“Everyone’s here. I’ll briefly explain the class scheduled for 4th period tomorrow and then we’ll conclude.”
Jung Minwoo tilted his head at the instructor’s words.
‘It’s not just short because it’s the first day, but this is how classes will always end……?’
He thought so because the class was considerably shorter than he expected.
‘Surprisingly, this part is convenient and I like it.’
He had been prepared to receive training all day long, but the Demon World seemed to have a better educational welfare system than he thought.

‘Then, the outcome will depend on how you utilize the remaining time.’
With so much free time, the ranking would be determined by how each demon strategized.
“……Therefore, tomorrow, we will have time to learn about ‘How to Obtain Demonic Energy’ and ‘How to Use Demonic Energy’.”
Jung Minwoo pondered, stroking his chin, at the instructor’s explanation.
‘How to use demonic energy……’
He could study the theory in his spare time, so it wasn’t a big deal, but he couldn’t study because he didn’t know anything about ‘Demonic Energy’.
‘It’ll be too late if I wait until tomorrow to learn about demonic energy……’
Now that his image had improved thanks to ‘Demon Eye’, he had to show that he could handle demonic energy better than other demons in order to solidify that image.
‘First, should I read the instructor’s mind?’
Jung Minwoo used ‘Mind’s Eye’ on the instructor, hoping to get some clues about demonic energy.
【They wouldn’t have thought I’d give them the option to choose equipment in the order they successfully handled demonic energy.】
Letters formed above the instructor’s head, transforming his thoughts into text.
‘……Equipment selection?’
He didn’t get any information about demonic energy, but he was able to obtain even more valuable information.
‘The fact that they give you the option to choose equipment clearly means that the quality of the equipment is different……’
In other words, the faster you are, the better equipment you can get. Of course, the quality of the equipment would be limited to what was used in this place.
Jung Minwoo resolved to learn demonic energy in advance, no matter what it took.
‘They said there’s a library in the building, so I should look up how to use demonic energy.’
Just as he was mentally organizing what he had to do after class,
“That’s all for today. Enjoy your meal, everyone.”
The instructor left the classroom as if he had finished what he had to say.
“Class is finally over. You’re going to eat right away, right? Ribbit, ribbit.”
Jung Minwoo nodded at Rok’s words and said,
“Of course. Let’s go right away.”
There was a lot to do, but as the saying goes, “Even Mount Kumgang is enjoyed after a meal,” it was a priority to fill his stomach.
As they left the classroom with Rok and walked down the hallway, a group of demons stared at them with piercing gazes.
Their eyes were filled with obvious malicious intent.
‘Typical.’
He could easily grasp their intentions without even reading their minds with ‘Mind’s Eye’.
Just as Jung Minwoo was about to pass by with an inward scoff,
Slide—
One demon, with a sly smile, subtly stuck his foot out.
‘Seriously, they never deviate from expectations.’
Jung Minwoo put strength in his leg and stomped hard on the demon’s outstretched foot.
Crunch!
“Ugh, uaaagh!”

The demon whose foot was stepped on let out a pathetic scream and collapsed to the floor.
“Ah! Sorry, you should have been more careful.”
As Jung Minwoo sneered at the fallen demon,
“Y-You bastard!”
Another demon next to him raised his hand, about to throw a punch, but
“That won’t work. Ribbit, ribbit.”
Rok’s tongue shot out, grabbing the attacking demon’s hand and stopping the attack.
“Oh, good timing.”
Jung Minwoo gave Rok a thumbs-up, then looked at the demons and said,
“You gonna do more?”
T hi s w a s c o p i e d f r o m k i n g m t l . o r g
“””……”””
As if realizing that their opponent was above them, the demons lowered their gazes and shut their mouths.
“I’ll let you off the hook this time, but I won’t be so lenient next time.”
Jung Minwoo warned the demons in a chilling voice.
Flinch—
As if the warning had gotten through, the demons trembled and cautiously nodded.
‘This should keep them from bothering me for a while.’
Competition was a world of survival of the fittest, and the moment you showed weakness, you would be devoured.
Therefore, he had to be even stronger in situations like this.
“You guys are pathetic excuses for demons.”
As Jung Minwoo continued walking, spitting out venomous words,
Swoosh—
The demons who had been watching the situation quietly began to clear the way, regardless of who they were.
It was like a scene from the parting of the Red Sea.
‘Alright.’
Jung Minwoo inwardly cheered at the successful image building, maintaining a nonchalant expression as he passed through the demons.
After lunch.
‘As expected, going to the library was the right answer.’
Jung Minwoo returned to the dormitory after gathering the necessary books from the library.
‘How could I have known there would be a book titled ‘Basic Demonic Energy’?’
However, even if he had obtained a book about Demonic Energy, he couldn’t be completely happy.
‘……They said this book has been borrowed quite a lot.’
This was because when he asked the librarian how many others had borrowed it, they told him about thirty copies had been borrowed.
‘There are about 10 classes, so it can be seen that about 3 people from each class borrowed it.’
Considering those who borrowed the book after him, Jung Minwoo estimated that there would be about 10 people in each class.
‘I must learn Demonic Energy today, no matter what.’
Now that he knew there were competitors, he had to make some progress today no matter what.
‘If I succeed in learning Demonic Energy, I can review and preview later.’

First, Jung Minwoo flipped through the pages of ‘Basic Demonic Energy’ and looked at the contents.
―The method of using Demonic Energy is simple.
:

―Absorb negative energy through breathing, accumulate it in the heart, stimulate the heart, and circulate it throughout the body.
―Then, if you use it by putting your desire into Demonic Energy, it will manifest.
A fairly simple explanation.
‘……The explanation is easy.’
However, even a simple explanation felt difficult to Jung Minwoo, who had never handled Demonic Energy in his entire life.
‘Absorbing negative energy……’
Jung Minwoo sat on the floor in a meditative posture and gently closed his eyes.
“Breathe in…… Breathe out……”
And as he breathed, he fell into thought.
T h i s wa s co p ie d f r o m k in g m t l .o r g
‘What is negative energy?’
Because it was an abstract expression, it was necessary to define this first.
‘Anger, depression, pain, etc., must be what it means.’
Once the definition was complete, another question arose.
‘Then, how do I absorb negative energy?’
He was lost in thought for a while, but no clear conclusion came to mind.
‘No, let’s not think from a human perspective.’

He gathered his thoughts again and decided to think from a demon’s perspective.
‘Feeling Demonic Energy is like breathing. In other words, it must be an invisible energy.’
Jung Minwoo tried to feel it with his body without trying to see it.
‘……Is this it?’
And he began to feel a murky energy around him.
‘……Demonic Energy?’
Jung Minwoo was convinced that this energy was Demonic Energy and inhaled the murky energy through his breath.
After repeating the process of exhaling and inhaling for a long time,
‘It’s heavy,’
He could feel a heavy sensation in his heart.
Then, as he spread the Demonic Energy gathered in his heart throughout his body,

“……Ah, ah……”
An enormous catharsis swept over his entire body.
‘Is this what they call exhilaration?’
Jung Minwoo opened his eyes and stretched out his hand toward the book on the desk.
“Come to me.”
As he controlled the Demonic Energy as written in the book, the book was enveloped in black energy.
Whoosh.
It floated in the air and slowly flew towards him.
“I, I did it!”
Jung Minwoo felt great joy at having successfully used Demonic Energy and clenched his fists.
With this, he would be able to solidify his image as an elite to the instructor.
‘And I’ll get to choose good equipment too.’
Feeling half joy and half pride, Jung Minwoo got up from his seat.
‘Just in case, I should practice handling Demonic Energy more before reviewing the theory.’
He glanced at the clock to manage his time,
[20:00]
“……?”
Eight hours had flown by.
‘Time flew by so fast?’
Realizing that this was not the time to feel proud, Jung Minwoo sat down again in a meditative posture.
‘I won’t get much sleep if I finish previewing too.’
Afterwards, Jung Minwoo somehow managed to finish reviewing and previewing after Demonic Energy training and was barely able to lie down to sleep.
The next day.
Despite only getting two hours of sleep, Jung Minwoo was attending class in a refreshed state.
‘Just awakening to demonic energy has improved my physical condition this much.’
It felt like he had slept for eight hours.
‘If this is the case, I can sleep two hours every day without any problems.’
Excluding sleeping time, he could use 22 hours, which meant he had ample time to study.
“There are three ways to obtain demonic energy. Can anyone explain the first method?”
At the instructor’s question, Jung Minwoo broke from his thoughts and stood up to answer.
T h i s w as c o p i e d f r o m k i n g m t l. o rg
“Negative energy, corruption, and contracts.”
The instructor nodded at Jung Minwoo’s answer and continued the explanation.
“That’s right. We obtain demonic energy through these methods.”
As he listened to the explanation, Jung Minwoo suddenly had a question.
‘If we can obtain demonic energy through the negative energy in the Demon World, is there really a need to go to other planets to obtain it?’
Fortunately, the instructor’s following explanation quickly resolved Jung Minwoo’s question.
“Negative energy can be obtained in the Demon World, but it can only replenish our strength, not allow us to grow. That’s why demons are so desperate to go to other planets to obtain demonic energy.”
T hi s w as co p i e d fr o m k i n gmt l . o r g
The instructor wrote the three types Jung Minwoo mentioned on the blackboard and continued,
“First, the method of obtaining ‘negative energy’ is simple. You can obtain it effortlessly by going to a place where war is taking place. However, I don’t recommend it as much as the other two methods because the amount of demonic energy you can obtain is insignificant.”
“Next is turning higher beings into ‘Demon Servants’. This has the drawback of consuming a certain amount of demonic energy, but the advantage is that the greater your influence, the larger the amount of demonic energy you receive. Also, you can only invade planets through Demon Servants, so you need to manage them well.”
“Finally, ‘contracts’ are the method most commonly used by demons. It’s a way of fulfilling the contractor’s wishes and taking compensation in return. Most items can be purchased with DP, and demons can convert the compensation they receive into demonic energy.”
Listening to the explanation, Jung Minwoo came to a single conclusion.
‘They’re quite gentlemanly for demons.’
Except for obtaining negative energy, it was a fair method because it wasn’t a one-sided gain.
‘They might be better than angels.’
The pigeons only received faith and money, and occasionally performed miracles, so it was quite unreasonable from the receiver’s perspective.
‘If I had been reincarnated as an angel, it wouldn’t have suited me.’
Just as he was feeling fortunate(?) to have been reincarnated as a demon,
Caw, caw, caw.
The bell signaling the end of class rang through the speaker.
“That’s all for today’s class. See you next time.”
The instructor closed the book and exited the classroom.
“Everyone, take your seats.”
Soon after, the homeroom instructor entered the classroom.
“We’ll proceed directly to learning how to use demonic energy.”
At the homeroom instructor’s words, Jung Minwoo showed a confident smile.
‘This moment has finally arrived.’
He had even practiced in the morning just in case, so Jung Minwoo was certain that he would be first.
“Before we begin, are there any cadets who can use demonic energy?”
Jung Minwoo raised his hand.
“……Hmm, 30 people. That’s 20 more than the previous batch.”
Jung Minwoo couldn’t believe his ears.
‘……30 people?’
It was three times more than he had expected.
He looked back and saw 29 demons raising their hands.
As the situation sunk in, Jung Minwoo felt a pang in his stomach.
‘……I underestimated them too much.’
No matter how inexperienced they were, he had momentarily forgotten the fact that they were higher beings who could use language and writing from the moment they were born.
‘I was arrogant.’
A sense of tension washed over his relaxed mind.
“Originally, I was going to give you the option to choose equipment in the order you could handle demonic energy, but since it’s difficult to determine the order now, I’ll give the selection priority to the 30 people with the strongest demonic energy.”
At the instructor’s words, Jung Minwoo steeled his resolve once again.
’10 people or 30 people, it doesn’t matter. The fact that I have to be first doesn’t change.’
Jung Minwoo burned with determination and showed a sly smile.
