The Demon's plaything

Chapter 3: Rain of torment.

~Emily

I fell to the ground and I cried. I crawled to her and held her hand.

I knew I had to run away. I had to leave. I can't continue like this.

No! I can't!

I let go of Ava's hand. With my breath shaking and my soul almost leaving my body, I stood up and I walked to the wardrobe.

I opened it and I stood there, I broke down in tears and I leaned on the wardrobe door.

Ava and I do not deserve this kind of life.

No, we don't.

I can't even tell anyone about it because no one is going to believe me. How was I going to explain that I made a deal with a demon?

I have not seen Tharros after that night. All that was left was the scars of what he did to me, and this wound I have grown to live with.

I looked back at Ava….we just cannot continue like this.

I ran to the living room and I picked my phone. My hands were shivering. I took a break every minute to catch my breath.

I knew I needed help, and remaining silent wasn't the answer. I scrolled through my contact list and just as I was about to click on "the priest" my phone slipped and fell.

"Ahhhh!" I screamed.

I pulled my hair with my hands.

I was too angry and I forgot I wasn't supposed to raise the hand like that. I sat on the ground, sobbing as I lowered my hand. I looked down at myself and the magots dropped all over me.

My hands were shaking.

My breath was heavy.

With my bare hands, I picked them and dropped them on the ground.

"Ahhh!" I cried out.

"You demon! Why are you doing this to me! I haven't even done anything wrong! I was on my own when you came to me! You offered to help! Now you are ruining my life!" I screamed at the top of my voice.

I went to the fridge, and I grabbed a bottle of liquor.

I opened it and I sucked in my lower lips. I poured it over my shoulder and it stings!

I felt a wave of pain going through my whole body.

"Ah!" I cried.

I sat on the ground, shaking. I felt dizzy.

My legs couldn't hold my body weight any longer.

I looked down at the wound, and I could see it burning up. "You devil!" I cried.

I ripped my clothes apart, including my underwear. I stood up, completely naked.

I know that it sounds stupid, but my instinct tells me that I can run from Tharros. I was willing to run without taking anything that reminded me of him. I went to Available, and even though her whole arm hurt, I took off her clothes.

I stripped her naked like myself, and I managed to carry her in my car. I picked my keys and went out of the house, carrying my daughter on my back.

I dropped her in the back seat and when I shut the door, I felt a drop of liquid on my skin. I looked at my shoulder and it….it burned.

I looked up at the sky and it looked strange. The stars were missing. It was pitch black and it just didn't feel right. If it was rain, then it wasn't supposed to burn my skin.

One drop of rain turned into two, and two into four. It hurts!

It felt like boiling water was dropping on my skin.

"Ahhh!" I cried out.

My whole body was shaking. I opened the car door and it wasn't going to open. My skin was shedding off.

I could see my own body peeling off.

This isn't rain!

No, it isn't!

"Ahh!" I cried.

The pain was endless.

The torment was unending.

I pushed the door open, but I wouldn't open. I kept pushing, but It would not. I fell on the ground, the torment of a rain kept beating me. It washed down the road with my blood. I looked up into the sky and it fell into my eyes.

My eyes melted!

My whole body looked like I was being skinned alive.

Pain

Agony

Was what I felt.

Black out.

*****

"Emily, Emily," I heard a voice calling out faintly to me.

I felt a sharp headache…

I am dead.

I am sure.

But then, I opened my eyes and my eyes opened.

I could remember my eyes being burnt. I could remember the horrifying sight of my body being burnt.

I sat up and I looked at the whole place.

My neighbor, Steven, was standing in front of me. The morning sun was out and the ground was dry.

"Mom, why are you sleeping outside?" Ava asked me.I looked down at myself and I was still in my night dress.

I can remember tearing it off last night.

"Emily, is everything okay? Are you sure that you are fine? Do I need to call the ambulance? Are you okay?" Steven asked.

I nodded.

"I'm fine," I answered and I stood up.

I walked up to Ava and she was just fine.

"Mom, what's wrong?" Ava asked, staring at me like I was a weirdo.

I myself was confused.

I am sure that it all happened last night.

"Emily, are you sure that you're fine?" Steven asked again.

"Steven, I just told you that I am fine! What else do you want! I am perfectly fine and there is nothing wrong with me! Can you just leave my daughter and I alone!" I screamed.

Steven flinched.

"I am sorry. I was only trying to help," Steven said, calmly.

"Well, I don't need your help," I sneered, held Ava's hand and walked into the house.

I had a lot more to worry about than a neighbor trying to force himself on me.

"Mom, why did you have to tell at him like that? I have always told you to stop being so aggressive. He's only trying to help. Who wouldn't worry, finding his neighbor sleeping on the ground?" Ava yelled at me.

I sighed and sat on the couch.

I'm running mad.

"Did you sleep well?" I asked, ignoring everything she said.

I had enough of Steven.

"Someone came this morning and he dropped a letter for you," Ava said. She dropped the note and she walked away.

Sincerely, I am tired of Ava being rude to me because of that man. She isn't even saying anything about what happened last night.

Back to the letter.

I opened it, and it read "You think you can run?"

My heart raced, and immediately the writing faded away.

"Tharros," I mouthed shakily.
