The Destiny's Path after My Reincarnation

After rest time was over, the expedition group continues their way, following Carfeld's lead, they were able to find more of the mentioned checkpoints in the map, after 30 minutes of walking they found stone pillars that is adjacent to each other, and then after moving past the pillars and into the south-west direction, they found the last checkpoint that is in the map.

It was a field of blue flowers that had a faint glow in their leaves, because of the thousands of flowers in the field, that glow became even more noticeable.

"Is this the last one?" Carfeld said.

Suddenly one of the knight behind him talked.

"Captain!, the sun is going down pretty quickly, at this rate we're gonna be surrounded with darkness in less than 15 minutes."

He is indeed correct, although it is still relatively bright, the light that came from the sun is noticeably getting dimmer and dimmer by the minutes, if the expedition group don't find a resting place soon, they're going to have a hard time in the dark while many dangerous creature were lurking around at every corner.

Carfeld's face had a drop of sweat coming down from his forehead, he seems worried with the group, all of them have been too engrossed with the search that they forgot the night is approaching, the correct thing to do should be searching for a hidden area to rest, but then again, they are so close to the mithril cave, they've reached the last checkpoint that is marked on the map, just a few more minutes of walking and they will surely arrive at the location.

'What should i choose now, it's definitely dangerous to continue walking since many monsters that are usually not seen at day, came out at night to hunt for food, not to mention the spirit type monsters.. They're a pain in the ass since you can't defeat them with physical attacks, only aura and magic spells were able to damage them.' He thought.

'However, we're already so close to our destination, and there's no dense bushes or plants that could cover everyone, there are also no caves or cliffs, we're stuck— Resting in an open place is just another way of saying suicide, no matter what i chose, in the end we'll still need to continue our journey..'

Carfeld turned around to see the rest of the group, they're all looking towards him, some of the knights can be heard whispering something to other knights beside them, they must have realized that even if we rest, there is no place for us to hide, so we will have to walk a bit more in order to find a good spot to rest.

"Attention, i know all of you are worried, im sorry for not finding a safe place sooner, but you must also know that we can't rest here, right?— So, taking that into measure, i chose we continue our way towards the mithril cave, while we're at it we will also search our surrounding for a place to hide, if any of you found that said place, immediately report it to me."

At first, many people seems to be reluctant, they murmured something to the person beside them, expressing their concern about possible attack from the monsters in here, normal knights are said to be equal with B-Rank adventurer, usually it means they're fairly strong, but B-Ranks aren't the highest rank, there is still A and S-ranks.

'This part of the forest is widely known as an SS-Rank area, although weaker monster may appear occassionally, that doesn't mean most of them are like that, infact i think we are extremely lucky to have not encountered a single SS-Rank monsters after everything we've been through at this place, we almost had a few encounter with them, but thankfully we quickly fleed from the area.' Carfeld thought as he and the expedition group continue their path to the cave.

'I don't know if i can protect all of them if any of the SS-Rank monsters appeared infront of us..'

15 minutes later...

Carfeld and the others went into the east direction, they purposefully stick onto the trees on that place, because of its massive size, it can be used as a temporary hiding spot.

Everyone's eyes was slowly getting used to the darkness of the night, they can see most things around them, the only problem they could face right now is probably a monster that is hiding in the dark with black color.

Rrrrgghhh..

Behind the trees that Carfeld and the rest of the group are sticking on, they saw two wraiths flying around aimlessly, they seem to have no definite destination or purpose of being there, but that was completely reasonable, since Wraith is a spirit monster that is born from the suffering of the dead, those who died in agony and have lingering malice or hatred will fuel the condition for a Wraith to exist, their soul will be reborn as a Wraith, they won't remember a thing, but their suffering would still continue, they can't form a thought or decision other than killing every human in sight.

'Shit, of course they would be here, Wraith only appeared in places that lacks a light source, and forests is the perfect place for them to thrive, i pray for those poor souls to be freed from their misery..' Carfeld thought.

'Is there no other way around us where we won't be seen by the wraiths?..'

'Those wraiths aren't just a normal one, they've evolved, and from their looks, it must be a Pure Wraiths, we can't defeat them with Aura..'

Carfeld took a quick peek to see everything behind the tree infront of him, but realized that the wraiths are in an area somewhat simular to a circle with trees surrounding them from all sides, the tree that Carfeld and the rest used for hiding are also one of them.

Pure Wraith are born when a normal wraith manages to kill more than 10 humans in their lifetime, when they kill a human, their soul would be used as a source of power for their evolution, after a wraith evolved into a Pure Wraith, Aura will no longer work on them, only magic spells can damage them, and even that is only true for spells that are above 3 stars.

'The gap between each trees is too wide, we're gonna get seen with our number or people..'

"...You, uhh what's your name again?" Carfeld pointed at the fire mage in the mercenary's group.

"Huh? O- oh, im Moseth sir!" Said the fire mage.

"You have a 4-Star Spell right? on my count to three, cast that spell towards those wraiths."

"Huh? But that would create a loud explosion.."

"Tch— It's fine, when you casts the spell, we will all run together towards the location alright? be quick, everyone got it?"

"Yes!"

BOOOMMRRRHHHHHHH...

A big ball of red fire was launched from behind one of the trees not far away from those two wraiths, they saw the fire coming towards them but is too late to dodge it, Carfeld had been waiting for the correct timing when the two wraiths aligned together and is close enough for the fire to spread around them.

With an agonizing and loud shriek scream, the wraith was pulverized and their ashes went up to the sky before disappearing into nothingness.

"Quick! We need to make a run for it! Don't waste any time! or else something else will show up!"

Carfeld urges everyone to run immediately, his face filled with anxiety for seemingly unknown reason, but everyone in here know why he acted like that, they really know.

HIISSSS!!!

ROAAARRRR!!!

The loud shriek that came from the Wraiths attracted two of the most unwanted monsters to meet on Carfeld's list, at this exact moment, he regretted ordering Moseth to kill those wraiths, there is almost nothing that they can do except run, this time, it won't be a fight, but instead, a survival game.

A two-headed giant snake quickly slithered its way to the wraith's location, not long after, a chimera showed up, and almost instantly, the chimera could smell the expedition group's scent, its leg burrowing deep into the ground before dashing towards the group with a loud boom, the giant snake, seeing its nemesis, the chimera, also began to chase after the group, however its main priority is still the chimera.

ROAARR!!

HISSS!!

"USE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE TO RUN!"

"AAGGHHHH!!"

The mercenaries were able to speed up their movement thanks to Aura, since they have lived a pretty harsh life, a situation like this is not something they couldn't handle, although they may not be able to defeat the two monsters, they seem to be capable to run from it, with Deter's robust body, his speed almost matches with Carfeld and the special knights, Moseth and Lyra with their magic made them able to run from the monsters quite easily, Moseth uses his magic to create a burst of fire at the monster's direction, the spell was meant to be used for escaping as it has great recoil, so when he jumped, Moseth was launched into the front, falling just beside Deter.

Lyra is pretty simple, she used water that is dense enough for her to stand on and then controls it to move way faster than everybody else, even the two monsters.

Although the three of them managed to escape, the other two mercenaries weren't so lucky, they are the one that is skilled in stealth arts, the two robed assassin didn't have anything that could help them get away from the monster, they can erase their presence but even then, they wouldn't be able to dodge the oncoming attacks from the chimera, only them and the normal knights are left behind, those who couldn't use aura or magic and is only relying on their skill, have no way of outrunning the chimera and giant snake, the chimera slammed its claw to the ground, throwing multiple knights upwards before slashing them with its sharp claws.

"NO! ARTHAAAAA!!!!!" Deter screamed seeing two of his comrade died at the hand of that chimera.

Blood began to pour out, bodies were cut in half, organs flying everywhere, for the helpless knights, they could only pray that someone would save them.

"SHIT!"
