The Eight Empresses Betrayed Me, Only to Deeply Regret It After Being Reborn

Chapter 10

Chapter 010: I Don’t Know Her:

The mountain wind swept the clouds away.

Master Li Jian grew increasingly anxious.

He felt like the woman he had been pursuing was completely deranged.

He had always known that the Chu Sword Manor was forging a demonic sword. That sword was extremely important to him.

On the day the sword was to be completed, he had been delayed by other matters for a short while. However, given his cultivation level, he didn’t think it would matter. To him, everyone in Chu Sword Manor was as insignificant as ants.

But when he arrived, he was met with a massacre. Corpses lay scattered everywhere.

On the roof stood a woman, holding the demonic sword, laughing and crying like a lunatic. She kept muttering, “I was wrong… I was wrong…”

What else could she be but utterly insane?

So, he struck her with his sword.

She didn’t dodge.

He struck again.

She still didn’t avoid it.

Was this scarred ghost actively seeking death?

Master Li Jian grew bored and prepared to kill her and take the demonic sword.

But something about the sword wasn’t quite right. It seemed to be in a special state—not fully complete, nor like what the Chu Sword Manor’s records described.

Still, it didn’t matter. A demonic sword was a demonic sword.

What he hadn’t expected was that this woman, who seemed ready to die, suddenly fought back with terrifying ferocity.

Her sword intent and swordsmanship were chillingly powerful.

Despite just forming her Core, she managed to fight him—an expert at the Infant Rupture Realm.

Master Li Jian was shocked and ecstatic.

By the heavens, this was an unexpected boon!

This woman, merely at the Core Formation Realm, possessed such extraordinary swordsmanship. Surely, she harbored immense secrets.

But then she ran—babbling about atonement as she fled.

She was fast.

Chasing her all the way to the gates of the Great Dao Sect, he now found himself at an impasse.

“Fellow cultivators,” he began, addressing the sect’s disciples. “This woman slaughtered all 193 members of a mortal household—the Chu Sword Manor—to forge her demonic sword. Not even chickens or dogs were spared. Her crimes are monstrous.”

“The Great Dao Sect is renowned for its righteousness and is the pinnacle of cultivation sects. Surely, none of its disciples could be associated with such a demon. If so, may I take her and rid the world of this evil?” he asked with a forced smile.

The gatekeepers, both Core Formation disciples, responded coolly.

“There’s no need to flatter us. Whether the Great Dao Sect is righteous or not isn’t for an Infant Rupture Realm cultivator like you to judge.”

“Wait here. If no one inside recognizes her, you may take her. If someone does, then you’ll leave empty-handed.”

This was the confidence of the Great Dao Sect.

Despite being Core Formation cultivators, they could reprimand an Infant Rupture cultivator with impunity.

Master Li Jian didn’t dare show displeasure, forcing a smile and silently praying that no one within recognized the crazed woman.

Before long, word reached Bai Lan Peak.

Knock, knock, knock.

“Junior Brother Lu Ye, a heavily injured woman being pursued has collapsed outside the gates. She claims her name is Chu Ling. Do you know her?”

“If you do, we’ll save her. If not, we’ll let her be taken.”

Hearing this, Lu Ye chuckled.

Chu Ling? Still alive, huh?

“I don’t know her,” he said calmly.

“Understood, Junior Brother. Farewell.”

The messenger left swiftly.

Nearby, Bai Qiulan’s eyes widened in disbelief.

He’s leaving her to die?

Chu Ling? That Chu Ling?

No. Even if she was a rival in love, Bai Qiulan couldn’t let her die—not after everything they had shared.

In an instant, Bai Qiulan disappeared.

The messenger, using a communication stone, quickly relayed Lu Ye’s response.

“Senior Brother, Lu Ye confirmed he doesn’t know her.”

The gatekeeper acknowledged this.

“Understood.”

If she wasn’t recognized, she held no value to the sect.

The gatekeeper turned to Master Li Jian.

“You may take her. We won’t sully the Great Dao Sect with her presence.”

Master Li Jian was overjoyed and repeatedly bowed.

“Thank you. I’ll leave immediately.”

As he reached for Chu Ling, blue frost burst forth, slamming into him with immense force.

Master Li Jian quickly defended himself but froze mid-action.

Bai Qiulan had arrived.

With her Void Refinement cultivation, bolstered by her Yin energy and rebirth, she could easily dispatch someone of his level—or even higher.

“Greetings, Elder Bai,” the gatekeepers said, bowing respectfully.

Bai Qiulan nodded lightly.

“Leave the body for you to handle. I’ll bring her back into the sect.”

The disciples wouldn’t dare object.

Bai Qiulan took one look at Chu Ling’s battered body and gasped.

What happened to her?

She fed Chu Ling a pill but refrained from using her own Yin energy to heal her, as it was too cold.

Instead, she brought Chu Ling to her senior sister, Sun Ruowei.

“Her injuries are this severe?” Sun Ruowei exclaimed, shocked as she began her examination.

“What kind of willpower must she have to survive this?”

“But as long as she’s alive, I can save her.”

Sun Ruowei used a combination of pills, charms, and her own green healing light to stabilize Chu Ling.

Gradually, Chu Ling’s charred skin shed, revealing scarred but healing flesh.

After hours of effort, Chu Ling groaned and finally opened her eyes.

Her dazed expression quickly gave way to joy.

“Master!”

She tried to sit up, wincing in pain.

“Ling’er, you’re awake,” Bai Qiulan said, relieved.

Chu Ling frantically looked around for Lu Ye, but he was nowhere to be seen.

“Where is Master? Sister Bai, where is he?”

Sun Ruowei froze, her eyes widening in disbelief.

Did she just call Bai Qiulan “Sister Bai”?

And Bai Qiulan acted like it was completely normal!

“Lu Ye is still in seclusion. He hasn’t come out yet,” Bai Qiulan replied.

“Oh… so it was Master who sent Sister Bai to save me? Thank you, Sister Bai. I’ll go find him now,” Chu Ling said, attempting to get up again.

Bai Qiulan stopped her.

“I already said, he’s in seclusion. Your priority is to recover. Once you’re healed, you can see him. He may even be out by then.”

Chu Ling bit her lip.

“Then, Sister Bai, can you apologize to Master on my behalf? I… I just realized I misunderstood him all this time. He wasn’t trying to control me but was protecting me all along. Perhaps… we all misunderstood him. He isn’t that kind of person.”

Sun Ruowei staggered, her jaw dropping.

What did I just hear?

What does she mean by “we all”?

Who else is included in “we”?
