The Eight Empresses Betrayed Me, Only to Deeply Regret It After Being Reborn

Chapter 2

Chapter 002: Rebirth:

Countless beams of light converged into two streams and entered someone’s eyes.

Lu Ye’s body trembled slightly, and the world before him transformed into its true appearance.

“Young master, young master, your clothes have been washed…”

A girl in a mint-green dress, her appearance mischievous yet undeniably beautiful, entered carrying a basin of laundry. Her cheerful voice faltered mid-sentence.

In that moment, countless lights merged into her eyes as well, and her memories returned in full.

They had been reborn!

Reborn to a time many years ago, back when they were still on the first layer of the heavens.

Looking at the scene before them now, it was clear this was shortly after they had just entered the Grand Dao Sect.

“Bang!”

The laundry basin fell to the ground.

“Why? Why? How could this happen?” Chu Ling stared at Lu Ye in disbelief, her gaze fixed on him.

They had actually been reborn!

Lu Ye couldn’t help but laugh, a deep and hearty sound. So, that old friend still had some conscience left. Thank you!

Before his transmigration, he had been an orphan who had never known love.

After transmigration, he had yearned desperately for love, and he thought he had found it.

He did, but then, without question, he lost it again.

From nothing to having everything, and then to losing it all—love, as it turned out, was anything but eternal.

Now, that betrayal seemed like little more than a passing storm.

“You had nine lives. Why did you choose to self-destruct without losing even one?” Chu Ling’s sharp gaze glinted with a hint of sword energy, befitting her title as the Sword Maiden of the Nine Heavens.

Lu Ye didn’t explain.

“It’s none of your damn business. Why should I explain anything to you?” he said casually.

He reached into his storage bag and pulled out a piece of paper.

A slave contract.

Chu Ling’s expression shifted.

It was nothing more than a simple mortal document, devoid of any power from the Great Dao. Even if violated, it carried no real consequences.

Yet, to Chu Ling, it was a source of immense humiliation.

She hated it deeply but had no choice but to abide by it.

A flame ignited.

Chu Ling’s eyes widened in shock.

Without hesitation, Lu Ye burned the contract to ash, the blackened fragments scattering in the air.

“It’s done. You’re free now.”

Chu Ling bit her lip, her stunningly beautiful face growing cold.

“Why? You still haven’t answered me. Why did you self-destruct when you still had nine lives?”

“I told you—it’s none of your damn business. Now, get lost!”

Chu Ling’s body trembled slightly, her eyes reddening.

With the contract destroyed, an inexplicable emptiness filled her heart.

This was what she had always dreamed of, wasn’t it?

“Reborn or not, you’ll die a miserable death!” she spat before turning and leaving.

Lu Ye chuckled to himself. He could have killed Chu Ling right then and there.

But sometimes, death wasn’t the harshest punishment.

Letting her live, consumed by her anger and resentment, was far more satisfying.

Even if he killed her now, it wouldn’t truly hurt her.

But living? That would.

After leaving Lu Ye, Chu Ling stood in the familiar yet unfamiliar courtyard.

This was where she had spent a long time with Lu Ye. He often teased her until she blushed, then laughed heartily at her reactions.

He would sometimes gaze at her with affection. There were evenings when she massaged his shoulders under the setting sun, moments when she, too, felt at peace.

But now, none of it would ever happen again.

She let out a self-deprecating laugh.

She had truly been foolish, once finding joy in serving someone.

Lu Ye had taken her from the Chu Sword Manor, kept her under his control, and never allowed her to return. By the time he finally let her go, her home had already been destroyed.

She could no longer remain at the Grand Dao Sect.

She had never truly been a disciple of the sect, only a maid allowed to stay because of her master.

She would return home!

Thinking of her parents, Chu Ling’s heart yearned to reunite with them.

She quickly descended the mountain, heading toward Chu Sword Manor.

Yet, her doubts remained unresolved.

She hadn’t truly intended to kill Lu Ye. Everyone knew he had nine lives. The eight of them had agreed to leave him with one, turning him into a powerless wreck, forced to atone for his so-called sins.

But on his first life, he chose to self-destruct.

Well, it didn’t matter now. She had to go home.

Meanwhile, Lu Ye knew Chu Ling would inevitably head home.

Chu Sword Manor—what a pit of darkness.

Chu Ling was born with an innate sword physique. Had the manor cultivated her properly, she would have become a powerful protector of their legacy.

But the Chu Sword Manor had other plans.

They already had a young master with a Primal Sword Embryo. They didn’t need another talent to rise.

Moreover, the manor’s ancestor had forged a demonic sword that required someone with a sword physique as a sacrifice. Chu Ling was the obvious choice.

He had saved her and forced her to stay by his side, withholding the truth to spare her the pain of knowing her family’s so-called love was a lie.

Even an illusory love, he knew, was still love. Many had never known even that.

When the demonic sword was nearly complete, it lacked Chu Ling.

In the end, the manor sacrificed their young master instead, completing the sword.

The day the sword was forged was the day Chu Sword Manor was destroyed.

Now, as Chu Ling returned, the entire manor would surely be overjoyed.

They would never expect someone who had escaped death to return willingly.

How utterly foolish.

“BANG!”

Before Lu Ye could begin cultivating, his door was kicked open, splinters flying.

A fiery figure dressed in a red battle outfit stormed in—his junior sister, Yue Hongling, her face full of anger.

My door…

Lu Ye seethed.

‘Why the hell would you kick my door open? If you wanted to come in, just come in!’

;Now the door’s broken—how am I supposed to feel safe while cultivating or sleeping?’

Lu Ye’s figure vanished.

In the next instant, his hand was around Yue Hongling’s neck.

She snorted coldly and raised her palm to strike, but in just one move, he had her by the throat.

Lifting her into the air, Lu Ye’s voice turned icy: “Fix my door today, or I’ll strangle you!”

He was livid.

Throughout all his years of cultivation, few had dared break his door. Without it, he felt completely exposed.

Yue Hongling’s stubborn face turned red as she struggled, her gaze locked on Lu Ye with unyielding defiance.

But Lu Ye showed no signs of letting go.

Kill her!

Strangle her to death!

The suffocating sensation grew stronger. Her neck was about to snap under Lu Ye’s grip.

Seeing the coldness in his eyes, the specter of death loomed over her like a nightmare.

‘He really wants to kill me?’

‘He really intends to kill me!’

!!!

Yue Hongling couldn’t believe it.

Was this still the senior brother who always spoiled her and tolerated her tantrums?

No!

She couldn’t die yet.

She hadn’t reunited with Feng Wuxie. She had been reborn to live as his soulmate, envying neither gods nor immortals.

“I’ll… fix… your door…” she croaked, her voice weak and hoarse.

Only then did Lu Ye release her, tossing her aside like a rag doll.

“When I return, if the door isn’t fixed, you’re dead. Mark my words!” he said coldly.
