The Everyday Life of an Incompetent Crown Prince

chapter 48

48: Mimirila’s Tears

My younger brother has recovered, so let’s go home!

I couldn’t say that, so I ended up spending several days in the royal palace.

My father said that wounded soldiers need some rest after treatment, and that it would take time to prepare a reward, so I should stay a little longer.

It was a reasonable reason and I didn’t mind, but I’m sure it’s not my imagination that I can see my mother’s shadow behind my father.

That’s because my mother has been sleeping in the same bed as me for the past few days. I hadn’t seen her until now, so I can’t help but think that she asked my father to extend my stay.

I don’t hate my mother, and I rather like her, but I’m already fifteen years old, and since we’ve been apart until now, it’s embarrassing to touch each other.

On top of that, my mother doesn’t wear anything when she sleeps.

Literally, my naked mother is sleeping next to me. You should be able to guess what’s going on at this point. In addition, my mother looks like she’s in her teens and her figure is too beautiful to describe.

I want you to imagine how I feel when I’m sleeping with my mother holding my face tightly. I didn’t have any s*xual desire, but I felt a sense of ticklishness, frustration, and pleasure that I couldn’t express, and I spent the past few days in a night that felt like torture.

So, when my father told me that I could go home, I replied with a very good smile, “Yes, sir!” and he gave me a strange look.

When I said goodbye, my mother hugged me and cried so hard that I felt awkward, and I was finally able to start my journey home.

In a way, it was a homecoming where I learned that my father, mother, and younger brother hadn’t changed.

Now, the reward that my father gave me personally has increased without me knowing it.

The name was “Sending the Crown Prince, who was recuperating, to the battlefield.” It seems very forced, but it’s true that the reason I was confined was “recuperation,” and it’s usually impossible to send such a Crown Prince to the battlefield . So, it’s probably a reward in the form of an allowance using that. I still think it’s a bit of a stretch, though.

Now, the reward that my father gave me without me knowing it is as follows:

・10,000 gold coins

・The famous sword I used on the battlefield

・Twenty barrels of the finest wine

・Twenty barrels of the finest fruit wine

・Twenty barrels of the finest beer

・Twenty bottles of the finest mead

・Twenty live rabbits of the highest quality

・Ten live cattle of the highest quality

・Ten fish of the highest quality (preserved with magic)

・Numerous clothing and ornaments from the royal craftsmen

・The finest table set and teacups

It’s too much. That’s my honest opinion.

I did say I wanted some alcohol, but sixty barrels was unexpected, and the rest of it would stand out if I wasn’t careful.

Speaking of which, isn’t beer a drink that’s only available to royalty, nobles, high-class inns, and some restaurants? I’ve heard that it’s an improved version of ale, but I’ve never actually had it before. I ‘m looking forward to it.

Honey wine (mead) is something I normally like, so I have high expectations for the finest quality. It’s a small amount, so I guess this is for me personally.

The problem is the food. Food that the “king himself has given to the crown prince” as a reward cannot be eaten by servants such as butlers, maids, cooks, guards, or direct subordinates without permission.

I got the alcohol with that in mind, so that’s fine, but wait, do I have to eat all of this by myself? There are ten fish, but each one is a meter long!

I started to clutch my head as soon as I read the catalog in the carriage on the way home.

*

“Well, that’s why. I was thinking of giving you some as a souvenir, but the amount is just too much.’

‘Well, well, Your Majesty is quite bold.’

‘There must be some limits.’

‘That’s what it means to be a king. Our standards are different from yours.’

‘Well, that’s true.’

As soon as I got back to the mansion, I contacted my loyal subject, Jalnar.

I had already contacted him when I returned to the palace safely, and he was overjoyed at the time. He seemed to be thinking a little when I told him about the situation this time, but otherwise he simply congratulated me on my safety.

‘The rabbits and cows are alive, so we can just butcher them when we eat them, and the fish have been processed by the court magician, so they will last. But even so, there’s no telling when we’ll finish eating all this .’

‘If only we had permission from His Majesty the King, we could do anything, but alas.’

‘That’s the thing. I don’t know if Father did it on purpose or out of goodwill, but this is…’

Now I hesitate to write a letter saying, “Can we all eat it?”

In the first place, Father should have said so from his side. Those who receive the reward can only accept it honestly.

‘Well, okay. If you can show your face, come and see me once. No, wait, what happened to the guild house?’

‘In that case, it is already completed, and all that remains is for His Royal Highness the Crown Prince to have an audience and point out what is missing.’

‘Oh. You’ve worked hard.’

‘Thank you for your kind words.’

I suppress the urge to jump out of my seat as soon as I hear that. I still have things to do here, so I have to be patient.

‘I understand. Anyway, I won’t ask you to do anything unreasonable, but come and see me as soon as possible with a wagon to load the luggage. Oh, and I’ll give you some wine to take to the guild house , so be prepared for that.’

‘You are too kind.’

‘You’re welcome.’

We both laugh. He knows exactly what I want to do.

‘By the way, bring anything you have. I’ve also received some money directly from Father, so if you have anything left over, feel free to sell it.’

‘hahahaha, I will do as you say.’

‘Well, then. Let me know when you’re coming.’

‘I will do as you say.’

After hanging up, I lie down on my bed for the first time in a long time.

What am I going to do? I can’t eat only meat and fish every meal, but if I don’t eat it, it won’t go away.

It would be better to shift my thinking from “how can I eat it all myself” to “how can I get others to eat it” from the beginning.

“Hmm.”

I have an idea. I consider whether the idea is feasible. Then I realize something and decide that it is possible. From there, I think about the things I need to do and decide on the procedure.

“Okay.”

I act as soon as I think of it. I’ll take my cue from Jalnar, who took me to the brokerage house with such force.

Things won’t move forward if I just think about them. I’ll take it one step at a time.

And so, I contacted Jalnar, whom I had just contacted a short while ago.

‘Oh, Jalnar. I have a favor to ask.’

*

It’s big.

That was my first impression when I saw the guild house that Jalnar had prepared for me.

It was certainly in a relatively quiet location on the outskirts of town, and it wouldn’t bother anyone in the vicinity even if it was a little noisy.

But how do I put it? For example, the guild house is generally imagined as a multi-story tavern and dining hall, or a large hostel-like structure.

This is the mansion. It’s huge, with a mansion, a garden, and everything.

“It’s big.”

“It was originally used as a villa for the Earl of Turret. No one has touched it since it was put up for sale.”

“I could make a living as a merchant, even without being an adventurer.”

“If that happens, let me know. Let’s make some money together.”

This is a conversation between me, who looks like Jasper, and Jalnal.

We both know it’s a joke, but it’s really big. Even if all the guild members we plan to register at this stage use it comfortably, there will still be plenty left over. It will be even more so if we remodel the site.

Well, let’s think about that later.

“Neal, take a look around the guild base and see if there’s anything missing. For now, make sure you have kitchen utensils and bedding. Also, a place to put food and materials, and an armory.”

“Yes, I understand.”

“Understood.”

“Don’t worry about it.”

It’s the first unveiling of the guild base with me, my party, Neal’s party, and two other parties, for a total of sixteen people. I don’t have any complaints as long as the bedroom is clean, so I’ll leave the rest to you.

As I entered the mansion with Jalnal in the lead, I was greeted by an entrance hall with a depth that felt like a nobleman’s mansion. There were several round tables and chairs surrounding them, and it seemed that people usually chatted here. The interior has also been remodeled so that the extravagance is not excessive.

If you look, you can see tables and other things in the upper hallways and in the wider areas, so it may be to give it a guild-like feel. Or maybe it’s simply because there are so many people.

Well, it’s not surprising that this place would become a gathering place, given its size.

“What do you think?”

“Not bad. It must have cost a lot, including the mansion and the land.”

“It’s nothing. Besides, it will be paid back in soon profit anyway.”

“I’ll do my best.”

Basically, we sell all the materials we get to Jalnal. I can use [Colorless Jewels] to transport a lot of rare and other items, so it’s all profit for Jalnal.

But this is easily over ten thousand gold coins…

“Mimirila, is there anything?”

“No, there isn’t. It would be extravagant to complain about this.”

“I agree.”

The three of us laugh.

By the way, Mimirila, who is always sticking to me as a guard, has become the sub-master of our guild. She tried to refuse, but she was forced to take the position.

“Our guild, ‘Mimirila’s Cat Ears’, is going to have trouble with money right after its establishment.”

I said that we weren’t in trouble at all, and I patted Mimirila’s head. She said nothing and let me do as I pleased.

‘Mimirila’s Cat Ears’ was the name I decided on when we were about to write the guild name on the registration form. I looked at Mimirila’s face and ears and decided on the spot. It was a complete whim.

When I decided on it, Mimirila’s ears and tail stood up straight, her eyes darted around, and her face turned red. It was very cute. After that, I ignored her words asking me to change the name because she was embarrassed, and our guild was established.

Since then, Mimirila has been indifferent, whether she’s embarrassed or angry. What’s wrong with that? The other members of Sagara were very happy.

Well, it would be embarrassing to say “This is my cute cat ear guild” when greeting people. Even I would find it hard.

But everyone except Mimirila, including me, loves it, so the name will probably never change.

“So, that’s about it for the establishment of our guild. All that’s left is to prepare what we need for the mansion over there, and to ask Nail and Mash. I’ll leave the preparations to you, since it would be contradictory if there was a time difference, but after tomorrow’s meeting. I’ll take care of the requests.”

“Yes, I understand. I’ll make arrangements with the various parties.”

“Then I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Yes. Then.”

With that, Jalnal got into his carriage and left.

I watched him go, then looked around the mansion again. It’s nothing compared to the mansion I live in, but it’s more than enough, with that as an exception. This will definitely become the talk of the surrounding guilds, adventurers, and merchants.

As I thought about such things, I turned to face Mimirira, who was standing next to me, and for some reason, she was crying with a blank expression.

“What’s wrong?”

“Eh? Ah, no, well…”

As if she had just noticed her own tears when I spoke to her, Mimirira wiped them away with her finger. After staring at it for a while, she wiped away all the tears with her arm this time.

“When I think that this is our home, I just…”

“It’s a bit too big, though.”

I laughed, but Mimirira didn’t laugh at all. It seemed that she was really feeling sentimental.

“Well, size aside, we’ve fulfilled our promise for now. After this, as long as we all keep a low profile, there shouldn’t be a problem. But you’ll have to work.”

“Of course. I will obey every word.”

“Then shall we share a bed tonight?”

“Ah, gladly.”

I said it as a joke, but she answered immediately as if it were a matter of course. I swear, I didn’t use the command in the Colorless Core.

As I blinked, Mimirira tilted her head with a puzzled expression. Her ears were twitching. Cute.

“Well, not until everyone is here.”

“Understood.”

First, everyone who can meet in Sagara will gather at the guild headquarters. I had actually decided not to make a move until we met face to face.

With that in mind, I sat down on a seat in the entrance hall with Mimirira and waited for the others to finish checking in. In the meantime, I played with Mimirira’s tail, as planned.
