The Fallen Prince: Zephyr Elrond

Chapter 21: Heartbreaking Statements

To say Zephyr was shocked would be an understatement.

He couldn't fathom the woman he considered as his mother would turn out to be a deceiver.

"What…?"

His body shivered, stuck in a state of daze upon hearing such terrifying news. Mind turned blank momentarily.

"What the hell are you saying, Yor?!"

Instead, he yelled at Yor, not accepting that she would be Aldina.

Especially she brought him up and his mother's last words were her name too.

'Then.. Did that mean… she? No, no, she loved me,'

"Look at her calf, she is number 2," Yor growled, pointing at the front towards the woman in the cape.

"It- It has to be a deception. I just caught someone and it became nothing. It must be-"

"She was Aldina all this time, Young Lord!" Yor yelled furiously.

The disturbance of fathoming about it was immense. His lips parted, emitting rapid breaths, everything distressed him too much.

He narrowed his eyes, becoming hopeless.

"What… Do you mean?"

"It was you, the one who killed Queen's parents and came to the castle so you could live normally and keep the book to yourself,"

His body shivered as gradually she removed her hood, revealing her long red hair and blue eyes accompanied by a deadly smirk.

"Greeting, Young Lord,"

"This can't be possible!" Zephyr refused to accept it.

She was just like a mother, how could she possibly be the cause of his ravage!?

"He would have recognized her if she was her. Yor, watch your words,"

So he attempted to make foolish excuses to convince himself.

"I don't know how she managed to get into your Aunt but the woman you spent your whole childhood with was never Lady Red," Yor declared, narrowing his eyes, getting in a fighting stance.

"She took over her at the age of 15 when she killed Queen's parents,"

Yor continued in a growl, mentally cursing for being unable to witness it before.

"You- you have got to be kidding me,"

"Lady Red, say something,"

He was not that strong to confront such a ruse from the person he trusted blindly and loved dearly.

Coming forward, towards the edge of the house, her hand elegantly rested on her waist, declaring her true identity.

"Dearest Nephew, Yor is right,"

When she accepted it herself, he lost himself.

Zephyr looked down, tightening his grip on his sword with tears blurring his vision.

'Mama… called her name,' He thought furiously.

His body trembled, a dark aura emerged from him. The ache of being betrayed her numbed him for a scant moment.

"But, the fact I had brought you as my child is undeniable. I agree-"

And he lost himself.

"So you killed my mother, huh?"

He threw her across many houses until she hit a wall and broke it along with her bones.

'What monstrous strength,' She thought fretfully, not expecting him to be this strong.

Her eyes widened, she thought her care could compensate for Queen Genevieve's love but was wrong.

And for her, he had absolutely lost his mind.

"No, it- it was not me,"

She whispered hurriedly when his sword flung but stopped right between her eyes.

"I.. I did not kill her,"

She shivered, almost witnessing his true powers for a moment.

But fortunately for her, he stopped when she blurted out it was not her.

Else he would fight fiercely with her.

"Then who if it was not you!?" Zephyr yelled, pulling his sword back.

Composure, breaths, everything was slipping out of his grasps.

He couldn't take a moment to comprehend or listen.

She knew he would unleash his true powers if provoked, which were strictly forbidden for her by Zirkos.

They weren't permitted to do so.

"I don't know. You were right, we scattered. I was only entrusted with the book and summoning," She whispered hurriedly.

Moving her hand in the air as she stood up slowly.

'Master Zirkos was right about him,' She thought.

And in a spur of rage, Zephyr revealed what he was supposed to bury in his chest for eternity.

"And you fucking used me to summon him. You lied to me!"

"You were using me!" He continued yelling, uncaring if anyone was listening or not.

"I used you!? You were the one who agreed on it, I did not force you, Prince," She growled, reminding him of the reality.

And there was no denial of it. She did not force him into the summoning.

"Still you have served as his commander, you are a woman of darkness," Zephyr refused to listen.

"And if I told anyone it was you who summoned him then you shall also become a part of darkness too!" She continued.

Evoking the abrupt realization of her words, stiffening his whole being when her voice echoed in the air, declaring openly.

"You brought Zirkos into this world, not me, Prince!"

He still opened his mouth to argue but all his wrath died when Yor's voice came from behind vaguely.

"What…?"

His whole being stiff in horror, jaw dropped when his secret was brought into the open.

Now he realized what he ended up yelling.

"Y-Yor?"

"Zephyr?"

"Delvin, you too?"

His heart skipped a beat, a strong, unbearable surge of horror traveled to his core.

He glanced only to find his close people who heard everything.

'Please don't hate me, please don't hate me,'

He prayed intensely, panting at this point, fearing their reaction.

"I merely carried out my orders in order to release my master and you just happened to work as an asset,"

Aldina continued, brushing the dust off from her dress while regaining her posture and reflecting that malevolent smirk of hers.

No matter how her connection was with Zephyr, she was the commander in the end after all.

Her powers were overwhelming without a doubt.

"You trusted me so much, would have done anything for me and why not?"

She chuckled darkly, revealing her devilish nature that broke his heart.

"I gave you the love your mother couldn't after all. Plus your arrogance,"

"What…?"

And those words shattered his heart.

Suddenly, he felt his energy being deprived of him, all of his wrath disappeared and all that remained in him…

 Was a scar.

"Ah, how easy it was to make you do the summoning,"

To her mocking laugh echoing in the air, Zephyr no longer knew how to react as Yor narrowed his eyes out of compassion.

"I can't believe it, Young Lord,"

Sniffling, he suppressed the tears which formed a screen in his eyes and used a barely audible yet shaky resonance.

"I... have one last question for you, Lady- Aldina,"

"What?"

"Was it all an act? Everything?"

She paused, arching an eyebrow seductively but soon smirked, throwing her cape away and summoning her staff.

"What else could it be?"

"We, the commanders of the Abyss, had been alive for a devilishly long time, centuries to be exact."

"And you expect me to hold attachments towards a mere prince? How gauche!" She taunted, having on concerns about his state.

And he lost another one dearest to him…

"R-Really, Lady Red?"

"Ah, is it hurting you?"

Abruptly, he found himself so weak that his steps stumbled and he fell on the ground. His body shivered, hands turned cold.

'Someone please tell me that it is a deception,' He thought sorrowfully.

She shattered his trust and that laugh of hers agonized him to the point tears blurred his vision.

"My, my, look at you, how pathetic,"

"How- how could you…?"

The woman to whom he gave the position of his beloved mother turned out to be an infidel and it shattered his heart.

"You. Mean. Nothing. To. Me."

Unwillingly tears rolled down too, he didn't realize it would hurt that much when she took a step forth and declared openly.

"And now you shall die,"

He didn't react, remained on the ground when she raised her staff to attack him.

He found himself too weak and heartbroken to react.

"Young Lord!"

"Zephyr!"

But, the ones who were near him came to help as he remembered the unfortunate event where he summoned Zirkos.
