The Flash Marriage Partner is the Dominant President

Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Dad, I Got Married_1

"No."

Fang Zhi answered and stopped talking, filled out the paperwork quickly. Since Lin Shu was willing, he didn't feel the need to persuade her further.

It's just a matter of trouble, at most it requires a bit more effort, but it's not something that can't be handled.

The two, working with the staffer, submitted their ID cards, got photographed, signed and stamped - all in one go.

Less than half an hour later, Lin Shu had transformed from a young girl into someone's wife.

There was no wedding gown or diamond ring, no blessings from friends and family, and her husband was still a stranger to her.

Thinking about it all felt rather surreal.

"Miss Lin."

Fang Zhi's voice pulled Lin Shu back, "Here's my salary card, the new house keys, and the access card. I have something else to attend to later. Can you drive?"

Lin Shu took what Fang Zhi offered her, "I'm not very skilled at driving, I'll just take a cab later."

"Alright, I don't really need you to look after my daily life. As long as you look after yourself, it's fine. The salary card's PIN is your birthday."

"You know my birthday?"

Lin Shu was surprised.

"Grandfather's demand."

Fang Zhi replied, "If there's anything you need, just use the card."

"I have my own salary, I don't need it."

Lin Shu declined.

"Legally speaking, after we're married, every single penny you and I earn will become our shared wealth. As a man, I also have an obligation to provide for the family. So, whether you spend it or not, it's the same."

"Alright then, I'll handle the housework and cooking, and I'll also share half of the living expenses."

"Suit yourself."

Fang Zhi explained everything in detail and was very polite in his tone, but he exuded a sense of aloofness, as if Lin Shu wasn't his newly wedded wife but rather a business partner.

But Lin Shu didn't mind, she was even a bit happy.

It showed that Fang Zhi was the type of person who preferred to speak the unpleasant truth upfront. After all, they had to live under the same roof from now on; it was better to communicate clearly than to beat around the bush.

"Let's add each other as friends then. Will be convenient for contact later."

"Okay."

After adding each other as friends, they walked out one after another. Fang Zhi in front and Lin Shu behind. He suddenly stopped after walking a few steps forward, she quickly retreated two steps to avoid bumping into him.

"By the way, are you okay with a secret marriage?"

"Yes."

Lin Shu agreed without asking for any explanation.

She had her own reasons for choosing to marry in a hurry.

On one hand, she didn't want to put her father in a difficult position and also didn't want to be fully drained of resources. Since Fang Zhi didn't ask her for her reasons, she naturally wouldn't ask him either.

"Alright, then I'll head back to the law firm first."

Fang Zhi said goodbye to Lin Shu and left. Not long after he got into his car, he received a call from Mr. Fang.

"You naughty kid, have you done what I asked you to do?"

Fang Zhi answered while driving, "Everything's been taken care of."

"That's more like it!"

Mr. Fang nodded with satisfaction and then asked, "When will you bring Xiao Shu home for dinner?"

"We'll see. I'm busy and she..." Fang Zhi glanced in the rearview mirror at Lin Shu, who was hailing a taxi, he pursed his lips, "She might be busy, too."

"Whether she's busy or not isn't up to you! I tell you! You bring her home for dinner tomorrow evening! Don't make Xiao Shu anxious!"

Mr. Fang was very adamant, Fang Zhi frowned, "Alright, I get it."

"That's more like it! I'll be waiting for you guys at the old house! Don't be late!"

...

Meanwhile, Lin Shu took a taxi back to her father's house.

Her father was watering plants on the balcony when she walked in, her stepmother was wiping a table nearby, neither of them acknowledged her return.

Surprisingly, Lin's father put down the pot in his hand and asked, "Why are you back? Don't you have class today?"

"Uh-huh, I took the day off."

Lin Shu walked over, picked up another empty pot, mixed the insecticide according to the ratio, and helped her dad get rid of pests.

"Dad, I'm moving out today. You and Auntie don't need to wait for me for dinner."

Lin's father was taken aback, realizing that perhaps his daughter had overheard the argument in the morning.

"Xiao Xiao, about this morning... your aunt didn't mean to target you, it's just that your brother is about to graduate from college and she is under some pressure..."

Lin's father seemed a bit embarrassed, trying to defend his wife, yet felt somewhat powerless.

Lin Shu didn't argue, she just kept her head down, diligently applying insecticide to the plants, well aware that her stepmother has wanted her to leave for a long time. If she could even bring money back when leaving, that would be even better.

For all these years, what the stepmother complained about the most was either Lin Shu's lack of ambition or her father's lack of talent. She lamented that she had wasted all these years with him and had not lived a good life.

However, it seemed like the stepmother had forgotten that before marrying her father, she was just a rural girl. Over the years, however compliant her father had been to her, she was never satisfied.

"Dad, I got married."

Lin Shu took out her red marriage certificate.

Lin's father was stunned, it took him quite a while to regain his senses, "When did you start dating? Why haven't you mentioned it to the family?"

"We've been together for a while now. He's a lawyer."

"Why did you suddenly get married? Didn't you discuss it with us?"

He knew his daughter had always made her own decisions, but he didn't expect that even on such a major event as marriage, she wouldn't discuss it with them.

"Dad, do you remember when I was a child, grandpa and grandma arranged a childhood betrothal for me? It's that boy."

Reminded by Lin Shu, Lin's father recalled, "The boy from the Fang family back then?"

Lin Shu nodded.

A sense of loss crossed Lin's father's face.

He really didn't want his daughter to get married so early.

A daughter is said to be a 'little cotton-padded jacket' close to one's heart. Lin Shu had always been raised in the old house, and she's only been here for a few years, right?

He hadn't even enjoyed her company enough, and she was getting married already.

But that boy from the Fang family seemed alright.

He remembered that although the boy spoke little, he was a reliable child. Although the betrothal between the two families was initially made as a joke, he didn't expect that many years later, it actually came true.

"Then, when you have time, bring him home, will you?"

"He has a case that requires him to travel out of town. Once he's back, I'll find the time to bring him over."

Lin Shu wasn't sure when Fang Zhi would be free, and even less sure whether he would agree if she suggested going home with her.

So she could only leave it alone for now. If Fang Zhi didn't want to go, she could find another excuse.

"Okay, so if you're moving out now, are you living at..."

"It's a house Fang Zhi bought. It's conveniently close to the school, too. I can easily get to work after I move there."

Lin's father nodded his head and was about to speak when the stepmother interrupted, "Didn't he say how much he would give for the dowry, or whether he would add your name to the house?"

At the time of the wedding, Lin Shu was only thinking about escaping her current situation, she had not had time to think about other matters, and had not considered asking for a dowry at all.

"I didn't ask for a dowry, and the house is his pre-marital property, so I didn't request for my name to be added."

"Are you out of your mind!" The stepmother became anxious as soon as she heard this, "Isn't this a losing proposition for you?"

"No, it's not..."

"If you don't ask for a dowry, and also don't add your name to the property, what assurance do you have for the future? Your brother is still studying, Xiao Shu, you can't be too selfish. You have to consider your brother's needs. You should at least ask for a little something."

Without mincing any words, the stepmother laid into her. Lin Shu was actually used to it. She turned to look at her father, but Lin's father only helplessly averted his gaze.

Her heart welled up with an unspeakable sense of grievance.

She thought her father and stepmother were different.

Yet it seemed that, in reality, her father too tacitly agreed that her marriage was just a stepping stone to relieve pressure and pave the way for her brother's future.

Lin Shu put down the spray bottle in her hand, "I'll go pack up my things."

As she walked towards her room, Lin's father realized his wife was wrong, he quickly tried to explain, "Xiao Shu, that's not what your aunt meant!"
