Chapter 1: The Glass Shadows World
---
**Part 1: "The Shattered Glass"**
Raiko's hands trembled slightly as he picked up the strange piece of glass that had been hidden at the back of the store. It wasn't like the usual mirrors or vases he handled every day; this one felt different. When he first laid eyes on it, he had felt an odd pull, an inexplicable connection, as though the glass was calling to him. Its surface was polished to perfection, but as he held it up, it shimmered with an unnatural gleam that made his heart skip a beat.
He had no idea why it was hidden in the back of the shop. There were plenty of rare items in his father's collection, but this glass felt out of place. The moment his fingers brushed its edges, a strange sensation washed over him. His vision blurred, and the world around him seemed to distort. Raiko blinked, trying to steady himself, but the world around him didn't quite come back into focus.
Suddenly, the glass seemed to absorb the light around him, casting everything in an eerie, mirror-like reflection. Through its surface, Raiko saw the city, but it wasn't the city he knew. The streets were darker, the buildings twisted, and the shadows in the distance moved in unnatural ways. It was as if another world was lurking just behind his own, a world hidden within the reflection.
He gasped, dropping the glass as his body recoiled. It shattered on the floor, sending a few sharp fragments skittering across the room, but it wasn't the pieces that caught his attention—it was the sound that followed. It was faint, like the whispers of voices from far away. At first, he thought he was imagining it, but the voices grew louder, filling his ears with a cacophony of sounds.
Raiko's heart raced. He tried to shake off the dizziness, but his feet felt rooted to the ground. The walls around him seemed to fade, and the store turned into something unfamiliar, as if the boundaries of reality were starting to crack. The glass had shown him something—something terrifying and beautiful. But why? And what did it mean?
As his gaze shifted to the broken pieces on the floor, something glimmered among the shards. It was a small, translucent object that seemed to pulse with a faint light. Raiko reached down, his hand trembling as he picked it up. It was another fragment of the glass, but this piece felt alive, almost like it had a presence of its own. As he held it, the whispers grew stronger, and the air around him seemed to thicken.
"You're not supposed to see," a voice murmured from the shadows. It was faint, almost like an echo, but it was unmistakable.
Raiko froze. He wasn't alone. He spun around, but there was no one there. The voice came from the glass itself.
Before he could react, a cold wind blew through the room, extinguishing the lights. The shadows around him grew longer, darker, and for the briefest moment, he could see figures moving within them—figures that didn't belong to this world.
Raiko stumbled back, the fragment still in his hand, his mind racing. What was happening? What had he uncovered? The glass had shown him something he couldn't explain, and now, the line between reality and the unknown had blurred beyond recognition.
"Raiko…" The whisper came again, closer this time. The voice was clear and filled with a kind of eerie authority. "You have seen the truth. The glass reveals what is hidden, and you are the only one who can see."
He swallowed hard, the fear creeping up his spine. He wanted to run, to escape from whatever this was, but the whispers held him in place. They weren't just in his mind; they were real.
Suddenly, the door to the shop swung open, and a figure stepped inside. It was a tall, cloaked person, their face obscured by the hood. But the moment they entered, the shadows seemed to retreat, as if afraid of them.
"Raiko," the figure said, their voice calm but urgent. "You must come with me. You've been chosen."
Raiko didn't have time to ask questions. The figure's presence seemed to command the air around him, and before he knew it, he was being led out of the store into the dark streets of the city. The night was eerily quiet, the usual hum of the city gone. It was as though the entire world had fallen into a strange, unnatural silence.
"Who are you?" Raiko asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"I am someone who knows what the glass truly is," the figure replied. "It is a gateway, Raiko. A bridge between two worlds—the world you know, and the one you've just glimpsed. A world of shadows."
Raiko's mind raced. "But I don't understand. What do you mean? What's happening to me?"
The figure turned to face him, their eyes glowing faintly in the darkness. "You've seen the truth. The barrier between the worlds is weakening, and only you can decide what happens next. You are the one who can either seal the gap or open the path for the shadows to invade. It is your choice, but be warned—whatever you choose, the consequences will be far-reaching."
Raiko stared at the figure, his heart pounding. He had no idea what was going on, but one thing was certain: his life was no longer ordinary. He had just stepped into a world that existed on the edge of his own, and the choices he made from here on out would shape the future of both.
As they walked through the night, the city around them seemed to shift, as if it too was caught between the two realms. In that moment, Raiko knew that his journey had only just begun.
