The Grim Fate of Those Who Arouse the Wrath of the Most Dreaded Marquis

Chapter 47

Episode 47: Stepping on the Tiger’s Tail (Part 2)

A week had passed since Demitul and his group arrived at the Zafing Residence.

During that time, their demands had gradually escalated. Giorg watched the situation coldly. However, since he didn’t reprimand them, they grew more and more audacious.

“Hmph… They’re dancing so amusingly.”

“Indeed. At this point, it’s almost suspicious how bold they’re being.”

Roy shrugged in response to Giorg’s sneer. His voice was filled with exasperation, showing no respect for Demitul and his group.

“Still, if it were just Demitul, I could understand his arrogance. But why are his four followers acting so high and mighty? Azein is still somewhat tolerable, but the other three seem to think they’re nobles or something.”

“They probably think they’ll get titles if Demitul regains his power. They’re conveniently interpreting my silence as approval.”

“Sigh… So they think you’re not saying anything because you can’t? That’s a whole new level of stupidity.”

Roy shrugged again.

“I’m deliberately letting them grow bolder. Let them dance beautifully—or rather, comically. They’ll just become objects of ridicule.”

“That makes sense.”

“By the way, how’s Azein?”

“To cut to the chase, he’s suspicious.”

“Oh?”

“He’s trying to communicate using a hand mirror.”

“Light reflection, huh? Any analysis?”

“It’s the same method the Zabeiru Military uses. The message is ‘I’m at the Zafing Marquess’s Residence.'”

Giorg smirked at Roy’s report. Azein was unaware that the servants around him were part of the Darkness Demon Group. On Giorg’s orders, they had slightly loosened their surveillance on Azein. Given the circumstances, it was only natural for him to try contacting the outside.

“Now, what about the other three? Any coordination?”

“None.”

“So, those three are purely betting their lives on Demitul’s restoration, huh?”

Giorg concluded that Azein and the other three weren’t working together, meaning they were genuinely siding with Demitul.

“I think so too. Azein isn’t sharing information with the others. He probably thinks he’ll benefit from Demitul’s restoration.”

“That’s karma for you.”

Giorg couldn’t help but chuckle at Roy’s words. Despite his sharp tongue, Roy’s lack of malice made his comments hard to dislike.

“Demitul is pitiful… no, pathetic. One of the people who saved him from execution is King Jilvol’s agent, and the others are only following him for their own gain, not out of loyalty.”

“What do you think will happen when he finds out the truth?”

“If he had any sense of shame, he wouldn’t be able to live with himself after being toyed with by King Jilvol like this.”

“Then he’ll be fine. I doubt Demitul has such noble feelings.”

Giorg laughed at Roy’s remark. Based on Demitul’s actions so far, it was clear he was incapable of leading anyone.

“However, it’s true that they’re starting to make demands that are pushing the limits.”

Roy’s expression tightened as he spoke.

“Indeed… They’re starting to make demands that trample on the dignity of my precious subordinates.”

“Demitul seems to have his eyes on Aisha.”

“…He’s getting way too carried away.”

Giorg’s voice dropped, and for a brief moment, a murderous aura emanated from him.

(Oh… Good for you, Aisha. Your love life isn’t completely hopeless after all.)

“What was that?”

“N-nothing! It’s nothing!”

Roy straightened his back and hastily replied. Giorg always responded firmly to such teasing. Of course, he wouldn’t physically punish his subordinates, but they knew they’d face grueling training sessions.

“Well, whatever. I have no intention of letting my subordinates perform any kind of sexual service for them. If they try anything like that, I’ll deal with them on the spot.”

“Understood.”

“The same goes for you all. If they do anything life-threatening, I’ll handle them the same way.”

Roy bowed his head, a look of joy on his face. He couldn’t help but feel grateful that their master cared so much for their well-being.

“Now, Roy.”

“Yes?”

“I want to talk to Azein. Bring him here.”

“But… are you sure?”

Roy was concerned that bringing Azein might make Demitul and his group suspicious.

“Yes, I’ve made up my mind. There’s something I want Azein to do for me.”

“A task?”

“Yes, an important one. Something only Azein can do at this point.”

“Understood. Please wait a moment.”

Roy bowed and left the room.

Soon, he returned with Azein in tow.

“Duke Zafing, what is it you need from me?”

Azein seemed slightly wary of being summoned alone. Giorg smiled warmly at his reaction, but when Azein saw that smile, he shivered involuntarily.

(Wh-why do I feel a chill? What is this pressure?)

Azein was shocked by his own reaction. Giorg’s voice and expression were calm, so there was no reason for him to shiver, yet he did.

Tap, tap, taptaptaptap… taptap, taptap

Giorg tapped the desk with his fingers a few times.

(N-no way… Why…?)

The rhythm of Giorg’s tapping sent a whirlwind of incomprehensible emotions—surprise, fear—through Azein’s mind.

“Oh? Did you miss it? How careless of you.”

Tap, tap, taptaptaptap… taptap, taptap

Giorg repeated the tapping, clearly not by accident but with intent. It was undeniable proof that he knew exactly what he was doing.

“Wh-why… Duke Zafing…”

Azein’s voice trembled as he asked.

“And your response?”

Giorg smirked as he spoke.
