The Help Club President is a Demon Lord

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Unexpected Opposition

As lunchbreak was almost over, the student council vice president said that he would like to talk to the Help club after classes instead. He then bid them farewell.

"Wow, so that was the vice president, huh? He was quite… something else."

Kiba remarked as he watched the vice president walk away.

"I know, right?"

Sanaka eagerly agreed with Kiba.

"I guess he has something he needs help with. By the way, how are we to decide if we will accept a help request? Do we just accept everything that is presented to us?"

Mimi posed the query to everyone, but she was looking at Angelie instead of Akuma, who was the president of the club.

"Of course, we will accept every request we get! Our goal is to help as many people as possible!"

Angelie pumped her fist in the air in excitement.

"Sorry to burst your bubble, but that is not my goal!"

Akuma pointed at Angelie and then stood up.

"And help everyone that comes knocking on our door? Are you crazy? Even if I want to do that, that won't be possible. We are a club of only five people. We need to prioritize requests that help me raise my popularity the fastest—"

"How about a vote? We are five, anyway. So, we can get a majority vote."

Kiba calmly interrupts Akuma during his speech.

"I believe that is a fair approach."

Mimi nodded her head.

"I see. In this way, we can also hear everyone's thoughts on a request. Let's go with a majority vote."

Angelie clapped her hands and smiled at everyone.

"Stop ignoring me! I get to decide which ones we will take on! I am the President of the club!"

Akuma stomped his feet and shouted at them. Everyone else stood up quietly and started to walk towards the stairs to go back to their classrooms.

"I wonder what the vice president of the student council needed help with."

Sanaka looked up at the sky and spoke out load.

"Hey! This insurgency will not be tolerated!"

Akuma ran after them when they didn't turn around to even look at him.

After classes, the Help club members went to their designated clubroom. It was a vacant room at the third floor of the school. The third floor was where most of the indoor clubrooms were located. Angelie decided beforehand that they would only go inside the clubroom once all of them were together. All five of them stood in front of the door of their clubroom. Akuma was in front of everybody, standing still, while everyone was waiting behind him.

"This is the next step to my conquest of this world. This time I will not fail—"

He got shoved sideways and fell to the floor, while everyone else went inside the room.

"Hey, this is nice. It already has a table and chairs for all of us and for our guests."

Angelie continued to look around inside the room after she put her bag on one of the chairs. The table had its short sides facing the entrance door and the window on the other side of the room.

"I guess we can just wait for the vice president to arrive."

Kiba sat down on the chair near the corner of the table close to the window. Opposite him was where Angelie placed her bag. Mimi sat beside where Angelie's bag was. Sanaka put her bag down beside Kiba and looked around the room some more.

"Good afternoon. Is the Help club open now?"

The red-haired student stood in front of the open door.

"By the way, who is this student lying outside—"

"Hi, welcome to the Help club."

Akuma instantly stood up and got beside the student council vice president. He held his hand out for a handshake.

"I'm the club president, Jizen Akuma. I'm pleased to meet you, Mr. Student Council Vice President."

He shook Akuma's hand while staring directly at the club president.

"Um, is there something wrong?"

"Now that I look carefully, I remember you were the one shouting inside a classroom on the first day of school."

"Yeah, we established that already earlier."

"And is that girl inside the one who was also shouting with you?"

"Yes, but as I remember correctly, she was screaming much loader than me—"

His grip on Akuma's hand became tighter. After a while, he let go.

"I see that this club's application may be required to be reviewed. But that is for another time. I do require your assistance, after all."

He went inside the room. He sat on the chair near the door. Akuma followed inside and saw the available chair was the one nearest the window, so he went directly there and sat down.

"I apologize for not introducing myself earlier. I'm Byoudou Teki of class 2-A, and as you may already know, the student council vice president. My request is simple. I would like your help on conducting a survey with all the clubs. It's about how many members they have, the equipment and materials they will be needing for their activities and what not. Basic questions. It's just that doing it by myself will take time, and the student council will need the information by the end of the week."

"Oh, it is indeed simple. We can do—"

"We'll decide and inform you later if we can do this for you. Club policy, as it were."

Before Angelie could finish her answer, she was interrupted by Akuma.

"I understand, but please don't take too long to decide. I'll be going, then. You can find me in the student council room."

Teki left the room and closed the door.

"You don't think he was angry, do you?"

Sanaka clutched at her bag, which was now on top of the table, and rested her head on it. She faced towards the door as it closed.

"It really seems like he needs our help. He approached us earlier during lunch and now asked for our help officially. We should really do it."

Angelie looked at Sanaka as if to answer her question, without being really sure herself.

Mimi, who was seated beside Angelie, pulled out a notebook and pen from her bag. She opened the notebook and started to scribble something.

"I agree with Angelie-san, which means we have two votes for agreeing to help."

Mimi continued to write on the notebook and it included a tally of votes. Under 'Help', there were two lines, while 'Don't Help' still have no votes.

"How about you, Ketsueki-kun? Sanaka-san?"

Angelie looked at the both of them, waiting for their answers.

"I have a suggestion to make, first. May I?"

Kiba raised his hand while smiling.

"Can you call me with my first name? I'd like to call you guys with your first names, as well. That is if you don't mind."

"Oh, we don't mind. Right, Mimi-san?"

Angelie faced Mimi and they both smiled at each other. Mimi then nodded silently.

"I don't mind, as well. But it's not like we're close friends or anything after this…"

Sanaka was hiding her blushing face by burying it on her bag. Angelie giggled lightly at the sight.

Suddenly, Akuma slammed the table with his right hand, his fist closed.

"Hey damn Saint! Why aren't you asking for my opinion? I'm the president of this club, you know?"

"We don't need your vote in order to accept this request. Only one more and we have majority."

Angelie didn't even look at Akuma as she answered.

"We both know you'll oppose our vote to help anyway—"

"Oh, that is where you are wrong, you damn Saint. In order to further my agenda of increasing my popularity before running for student council president next year, I agree—"

"Come to think of it, the vice president is very popular with everyone and is said to be a lock to be the student council president next year."

Sanaka raised her head from her bag.

"Eh, what… did you say?"
