chapter 2
2 – Lecture (1)
I momentarily lost myself in the author’s message.
‘So, do they have memories like I do right now?’
The moment this thought crossed my mind, I trembled with an uncanny chill that surged up from my spine.
I looked around to see if they were around just in case.
“Phew·····.”
Thankfully, they weren’t near me yet.
‘Well. They must be quite flustered by now, crazy as they are.’
I know the cause of my regression, but they don’t, do they?
Without a doubt, they must be perplexed by the current situation.
Anyhow.
‘Damn you, author! Why did you make them regress too?!’
As I called the author and cursed, he kept an unexpected silence.
I swear, it’s clearly ignoring me on purpose.
“Sigh·····.”
As much as I want to slug the author right now, thinking about future matters is a priority.
I slowly closed my eyes.
Then I inspected the magic dwelling within my body.
‘Tch. Just as expected.’
Unsurprisingly, all of the magic I’d grown had disappeared.
After all, hadn’t my body already become weaker than before?
So, expecting the magic to disappear was predictable.
‘It’s a little disappointing, but that’s fine as long I regain my strength. Besides, this is the most important thing.’
After all, it’s easy for me, who already possesses the information, to restore both magic and physical abilities.
More importantly, the legendary holy sword.
Also known as the Death Spear.
“This guy is the most important one. Even if I become weaker, as long as I have this guy, I can beat up most bastards. ‘It would be impossible to make this again.’ How much effort did I put into making this? The world tree branches and dew that I gained not through threats but cooperation with elves. An elixir and huge amounts of mithril and adamantium. Countless magical spheres containing both curses and blessings. Didn’t I have these ingredients commissioned to dwarves to barely complete it? As I remember, they said something like this:
‘This is a masterpiece among dwarves, sire!’
A spear, even the dwarves were amazed at. To the extent that there might even be a soul dwelling in this? Although, of course, the tricky part is that there’s a screw loose in this guy, just like other heroines. ‘Hmm, should I call him first?’ I’m connected with the spear by contract, we share the same spirit. In the previous round, it was possible to call it even when it was dropped, but there’s a high chance that it disappeared due to regression. However, ‘You never know.’ Even the writer is not omnipotent. Therefore, the spear might have also regressed. ‘Come on, spear!’ Shouting so internally, I call the spear.”
-Ugh!
Suddenly, a green spear appeared in my sight.
Upon seeing it, I involuntarily widened my eyes.
“What?! It’s just the same!”
The spear was exactly the same as before.
At that moment of my shock,
-Master! Why has my body suddenly become so weak?!
The spear started to throw facts at me out of the blue.
I lightly ignored such a factual spear and asked,
‘No, besides that, are your memories the same?’
-What, what are you talking about? Master?
‘Um, so… What happened before?’
-I remember up to when the master hit the sensitive demon king and was about to get caught by these weird women.
Looking at how it speaks, it must have also regressed with memories, like me.
‘What? Why did this spear regress?’
The author definitely did not mention such a thing.
He said that the heroines regressed with their memories intact.
‘Ah… precisely, it was your heroines, right?’
Meaning, it wasn’t the heroines in the novel who regressed.
‘So, wait. Are you saying this spear is my heroine
As I was making my vow to myself, Jukchang threw out a question.
– Master. What on Earth are you thinking about?
‘Well, there’s that.’
– Anyways, Master! Why are you so weak? And why did you come here all of a sudden?! You were about to be abducted by those… what are they called…Yan…
‘Yandere.’
– That’s right! You were on the verge of being kidnapped by yanderes, weren’t you?
Hmm. How should I explain this? She hasn’t regressed either, after all. So, it wouldn’t be bad to tell her everything honestly.
So, I explained my entire truth to Jukchang.
Then,
– Master. Are you sure those yanderes didn’t manipulate your memory?
Jukchang, who doesn’t believe a word I say.
Well, if I were him, I’d probably react the same way, but I wouldn’t thought he’d retort with such a miserable tone.
‘Well, that sounds more plausible than the truth I told.’
Anyway, he must believe some part of my story.
Otherwise, this situation won’t make any sense at all. I ignored Jukchang’s reaction and continued.
‘Don’t believe me if you don’t want to. Anyway, turn into a ring for now.’
– Huh? Why? I like this form the best? And when you do ‘that’, this form’s the most comfortable, isn’t it?
“I’d prefer that too. The problem is that I might be discovered by those ‘yandere’ and end up being imprisoned. Then I wouldn’t be able to do that anymore.”
– Tch. Nothing can be done.
He transformed into a tiny ring as he said so.
I didn’t put the ring on my finger, but placed it in my pocket.
The heroines might notice that I’ve returned if I make a mistake.
“They know habits I’m not even aware of.”
That was my thought while checking my body.
– Young master, may I come in?
My exclusive maid.
Jane asked cautiously, knocking on the door.
I instructed her to come in.
“Yes, come in.”
– Eek!
She opened the door without hesitation.
I took a moment to appraise her.
Black hair that reached down to her waist.
Striking features that put celebrities to shame, matching her aloof image.
Lastly, where the eye naturally goes, her generous chest.
In the past, I would have lost myself just looking at her.
“But now that can’t happen.”
No less than her, she was one of the heroines who chased all the way to the devil’s star. Of course, there is no guarantee that she has definitely returned, but from my perspective, she is one of the strong candidates. When she chased all the way to the devil’s star, she was no different from the heroine. The moment I briefly observed her with caution.
“Young master?”
Slightly tilting her head, she made a face as if questioning if something was on her own face. Feeling bad, I scratched my cheek and replied.
“Hm. Sorry. Anyway, why did you come in?”
“Oh, about that. It’s time for class.”
“Hmm. Okay, I understand. I will get ready and go out. Wait outside.”
“Yes. Understood. Young master.”
With that, Jane gracefully exited through the room door. I finished my preparations as always and headed towards the academy.
Inside the carriage was an awkward silence. I sporadically glanced at her, but her face was as expressionless as usual.
‘Hm. What is it? Did she not reincarnate?’
-Master. Do not let your guard down. Considering all that she has shown so far.
Indeed, recalling what Jane has shown according to Spear, I should not let my guard down. Wasn’t she no less than a professional assassin raised from a noble family? For Jane, managing her facial expressions is like eating rice cake while lying down.
‘But shouldn’t a normal incarnation be confounded, causing a change in facial expression?’
-Are you not pretending to act that way too, master?
‘That’s different.’
Even so, I have some understanding, does she not?
No matter how much of a professional assassin she is, her origin is human.
As humans, wouldn’t anyone show a change in facial expression when met with unexpected events?
‘Hmm. But let’s not let our guard down just yet.’
– Master. That’s a very good attitude.
In between, I was having a conversation with my spear in my mind.
“Master. We have arrived.”
Somehow, we arrived at our destination.
At her words, I stepped out of the carriage.
Soon after, I shifted my gaze.
‘It’s been a while.’
A daunting Western-style building stretched out in front of us.
It could pass for a castle considering its size.
I moved my steps toward the university reflected in my field of view.
The next moment.
-Pa-pa.
I caught sight of people whispering and peeking glances at me.
‘It’s been a while since I’ve had this sort of reception. Of course, I didn’t want it.’
I can’t hear their conversation, but I roughly guess what they are saying under their breaths.
Undoubtedly.
-That’s Professor Elec.
-I heard he’s a senior professor?
-Hey. Hey. From my perspective, that’s rubbish. I attended a lecture and it seemed like he entered through connections.
-Wow. Are those rumors true?
-Yeah. In my opinion, definitely. Among the lectures I’ve attended, his was the worst. I wasn’t the only one with this thought.
-By the way, how much of a mess will he make in the next ‘hands-on class’?
Such words are probably being shared.
Hasn’t such a rumor spread in the previous round, too?
So, it wasn’t difficult to guess the murmuring conversations around me. Just as I was having such thoughts, “Young Master,” Jane called me in an icy voice. As I turned my head, she suggested with a menacing tone, “Shall I deal with them right now?” “Ah, umm. No. It’s okay. By the way, are you angry?” “No. It’s just that insulting you, Young Master, is the same as insulting our family.” She was way too upfront with her menacing tone. Witnessing this, my spear warns me, ‘Master, it looks like that good-for-nothing woman hostile against you!’ ‘Ah, I, too, think the same.’ Of course, even before ‘that incident’, I might have been mistaken as nothing had changed, but still, it doesn’t hurt to be cautious. Ignoring the conversation around us, we headed toward the classroom. Not much later, ‘It’s been a long time here too.’ We eventually arrived at the classroom. Even though the door wasn’t opened, I heard the students’ chattering sounds from the classroom. As soon as I opened the door without any hesitation, “…..” “…..” The students closed their mouths as if they’d planned it. I ignored them and moved toward the podium. At the same time, I briefly glanced over the students. ‘Look at their eyes, really.’ The eyes ignoring me were exactly the same as the reactions I saw outside. Considering what the previously possessed Elrik showed them, it wouldn’t be unreasonable for them to have such reactions.
Just as rumored, this fellow had used his connections to get into this place.
‘Hmm, I see some yandere candidates as well.’
– Be careful. I assure you one of them is definitely amongst them.
‘I would know even if you didn’t tell me.’
With that, I slowly opened my mouth.
“Then, let’s start the lecture right away.”
So began the first lecture after the return.
