Chapter 167: Chapter 165: A Hero Saves the Beauty (Part II)

"You're here, big brother?" Monkey greeted Xiang Ri with an expression of surprise and delight, ushering him into the bar. Noticing the figure trailing behind him, he curiously inquired, "And this big brother is...?"

"Oh, just a new friend I've made. Monkey, meet Big Brother An!" Xiang Ri introduced her with a straight face, showing no concern for the clenched fists of a certain young lady beside him.

It wasn't entirely surprising that she was mistaken for a man. Dressed in a black men's suit, complete with sunglasses, she looked every bit like a gangster boss straight out of a movie. Her height, noticeably taller than the average woman, made her appear anything but petite standing next to Xiang Ri. Coupled with the dim lighting in the bar, it was no wonder she was taken for a man.

"Greetings, Big Brother An!" Monkey immediately bent over in a deep bow. To him, anyone who could become friends with Boss Xiang must be an extraordinary figure, deserving of utmost respect.

"Get lost!" An Xin snapped, her tone sharp and unyielding. She was already in a foul mood, and hearing this title only fanned the flames of her irritation. Besides, she never had much patience for men. Normally, she'd have kicked him by now, but today, out of grudging respect for a certain jerk, she decided to let it slide.

"Yes, yes," Monkey stammered, retreating quickly. He hadn't anticipated such a fiery temper from someone who looked so cool. His attempt to cozy up had been swiftly shot down. However, far from feeling offended, he found himself oddly accepting of it—after all, wasn't it typical for powerful figures to be mercurial? It only made sense.

He comforted himself with this thought but couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. That voice… it was oddly pleasant. Yes, that was it—pleasant.

"Men are all despicable!" An Xin remarked with disdain, casting a sidelong glance at the groveling Monkey as though he were a servant.

Xiang Ri, meanwhile, was preoccupied with plotting how to get rid of her. Hearing her remark, he acted as though he hadn't, his steps unfaltering as he moved toward the seat Monkey had reserved for him. After all, this "androgynous annoyance" would soon be out of his hair; there was no need to waste breath on pointless arguments.

Monkey, however, gleaned a critical piece of information from her words: so this "big brother" was actually a woman! That explained the incongruity of her voice. Yet far from relaxing, Monkey grew even more cautious. Who knew? She might be the boss's girlfriend, or worse, his wife. If he inadvertently offended her, he could end up in a world of trouble.

"Big Brother, what can I get you to drink?" Monkey asked obsequiously after leading them to a secluded corner. Of course, he didn't forget to address the possible "Big Sister." "And for you, ma'am, what would you like?"

"No need, he'll decide," An Xin interjected before Xiang Ri could respond.

Truth be told, she despised this place. Not only was it crowded with men, but there wasn't a single decent woman in sight. She had assumed Xiang Ri would take her to a fine dining restaurant. Who would have thought he'd bring her to this dump? If she'd known, she wouldn't have come. What a waste of her time!

"Big Brother, what do you think..." Monkey's gaze shifted to Xiang Ri, who seemed to be resting with his eyes closed.

"No alcohol tonight. Just bring us something to fill our stomachs," Xiang Ri instructed casually, opening his eyes slightly.

"Huh?" Monkey froze, thinking he must have misheard.

"Just do it! No whining. Remember, food—whatever's filling will do. And hurry!" Xiang Ri repeated, his patience wearing thin.

"Yes, right away!" Monkey finally caught on and hurried off, though he couldn't help but wonder why his boss had made such an unusual request.

"Xiang, what's the meaning of this? You're treating me to a meal here?" An Xin demanded angrily once Monkey was out of earshot.

"Where else did you think?" Xiang Ri replied nonchalantly, then smirked. "Don't think I don't know what you're up to. Hoping to use this meal to bleed me dry, are you? Dream on! Tricks like that stopped working on me ten years ago."

"Did you just call me stupid?" An Xin trembled with rage, her entire body shaking as if ready to pounce.

It wasn't just the insult of being called "stupid"; it was the humiliation of having her scheme exposed. After all, her original plan had indeed been to bleed him dry. In certain upscale establishments, a single extravagant meal could easily cost millions.

What truly infuriated Miss An, however, was not merely the failure of her plan but the fact that he had brought her to such a shabby, disreputable place instead of a high-end restaurant. Even if he intended to spend money, a meal here would likely cost only a few thousand at most—nowhere near her envisioned extravagance. Realizing that her ploy was now entirely futile, how could she not feel enraged?

"With Miss An's intelligence and resourcefulness, how could anyone ever call you stupid?" Xiang Ri offered her a slight compliment, his words tinged with irony. Then, seamlessly shifting his tone, he added, "But I think you also understand, Miss An, that I'm quite poor and rarely treat anyone to a meal. I hope you'll bear with it this time."

Though flattered for a brief moment, An Xin still felt indignant. "Even so, does that justify bringing a woman to a place like this?" To her, the notion that Xiang Ri was "poor" was laughable. In her eyes, he was merely toying with her.

"Oh?" Xiang Ri feigned exaggerated surprise, his voice laced with mock incredulity. "You're a woman?"

"Xiang Ri—" An Xin slammed the table and stood up, her voice seething with rage as if it could burn him to ashes. "That's enough! Don't think you can bully me just because you're strong. If you push me any further, I'll fight you to the death!"

"Hey, hey, no need to get so worked up," Xiang Ri said with deliberate nonchalance, waving a hand to placate her. Once she reluctantly sat down, he adopted a more serious demeanor. "In truth, I think you already know I wouldn't invite you to dinner without a reason."

"Just say what you want!" An Xin snapped, but the sudden solemnity in his expression sent an inexplicable unease rippling through her heart.

"Well then, I'll get straight to the point. I want you to move out—just like Chu Chu and the others." Xiang Ri habitually rubbed his nose as he spoke.

"You want to drive me away? Over my dead body!" An Xin immediately rejected the notion, instinctively jumping to conclusions about his motives. It was obvious to her—he wanted to bring another woman home and found her presence inconvenient. First, he had chased away Chu Chu, and now he was trying to get rid of her too. Utterly delusional!

"Don't be so quick to refuse. I'm saying this for your own good. Being around me is dangerous!" Xiang Ri deliberately emphasized the word "dangerous."

But Miss An had already made up her mind. "Let me tell you this: no matter what, I'm not moving out!" She had briefly considered leaving after Chu Chu and the others had gone, but now that she understood his intentions, she felt it was all the more necessary to stay. Even if she couldn't deal with whatever "vixen" he brought home, she could at least make her presence an eyesore for him.

"Heh, you might want to think this through. With Chu Chu and Xiao Qing gone, it's just the two of us alone in the house now." Xiang Ri didn't finish his sentence but let a sly smile convey the rest. Anyone with a shred of wit could grasp his implication.

"You wouldn't dare!" Sure enough, An Xin's furious voice rang out, her eyes blazing. She knew exactly what he was insinuating. "If you so much as lay a finger on me, I'll castrate you!"
