Chapter 17: Part 17
Camilla was seated at her desk, her fingers tapping away on the keyboard, when the office door opened.
She glanced up to see Regina stepping inside, her heels clicking softly against the tiled floor.
"Regina?" Camilla asked, a mix of surprise and curiosity. "What are you doing here?"
Regina offered a sly smile as she looked around the spacious office. "I just thought I'd come by and see what Andersons Group looks like from the inside. You always talk about how grand it is, so I figured, why not?"
Camilla raised an eyebrow, leaning back in her chair. "You came all the way here just to look around?"
"Of course," Regina said casually, though her eyes were scanning every corner of the room.
"It's not every day I get to step into a company like this. Besides, I was curious about your workspace."
Camilla smirked, sensing there was more to Regina's visit than she was letting on. "Well, now you've seen it. Impressive, isn't it?"
Regina nodded, folding her arms. "It is. You're lucky to be here. Who knows? Maybe one day, I'll find a reason to stick around, too."
Camilla gave her a knowing look but didn't press further.
"Well, I hope you enjoy the view while you're here.
Camilla raised an eyebrow at Regina, who continued to glance around the office with feigned admiration.
"Well, I've seen your space. It's nice," Regina said casually, stepping back toward the door.
"But I think I'll take a little tour and see more of the company."
Camilla gave her a skeptical look. "A tour? What are you up to, Regina?"
"Nothing," Regina replied with a smirk. "I'm just curious, that's all. Don't worry—I won't bother anyone important."
Without waiting for Camilla's response, Regina waved and walked out.
Once in the hallway, she stopped a passing assistant and inquired about the CEO's office.
A few minutes later, she arrived at the grand office door. She took a moment to adjust her posture, smooth her hair, and then confidently knocked. When the faint sound of "Come in" reached her ears, Regina pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Canary looked up from his desk, surprised to see her. "Regina?"
She looked as beautiful as always. Even though Camilla was the most beautiful girl in the Company, Regina was another level.
She was only two years older than Camilla but she was more beautiful than Camilla. No wonder Canary had once fallen hard for her.
Regina smiled brightly, closing the door behind her. "I thought I'd drop by and say hello. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
Canary leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable. "What are you doing here?"
"I was just touring the company," she replied with a playful tone. "And, of course, I couldn't leave without seeing the CEO himself."
Canary chuckled at Regina's words, shaking his head.
"Touring the company, huh? How did you even manage to get in here?"
Regina smirked, stepping closer to his desk. "I have my ways," she replied smoothly. "Let's just say… I've got connections."
Canary's eyes narrowed slightly, curiosity flickering in his gaze. "Connections, huh? You've always been full of surprises, Regina. Still, I didn't expect to see you here of all places."
Regina shrugged, keeping her tone light. "What can I say? I like to explore."
Canary leaned back, studying her for a moment. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to her visit than she let on, but he decided to let it slide—for now.
"Well, I hope you're enjoying the tour. Anything else I can do for you while you're here?"
Regina smiled brightly, evading his question. "No, this was more than enough. It's good to see you Canary." She said.
Canary ignored her and focused back on work.
Regina couldn't believe that he was ignoring her again. She put a fake smile and the .
" Well, Seems you are busy, I will leave you for now." She says and walked away.
——
Lisa was in their office with her colleagues as usual when she had to deliver the work to Canary.
She got the files in her hands and headed to his office.
Lisa knocked softly on the door to Canary's office before stepping inside.
She carried a folder, her professional demeanor intact.
"Good morning, Mr. Andersons. I came to update you on the projects."
Canary looked up from his desk, his expression softening when he saw her. He gestured for her to sit.
"Lisa, thanks for coming. And… I owe you an apology."
Lisa tilted her head, slightly surprised. "An apology?"
He sighed, leaning forward. "I know I've been distant these past few days. With everything happening, I haven't been as present as I should be. I'm sorry for that."
Lisa smiled gently. "You don't need to apologize. I understand what you've been going through. Loosing your dad, It wasn't easy ..."
Her calm response brought a hint of relief to Canary's face.
"Thank you, Lisa. That means a lot."
She nodded, placing the folder on his desk.
" I heard about the declaration of you as the New biggest shareholder. And the disagreement about making you the president " Lisa mattered.
Canary was surprised that rumor had spread already.
" Yeah..But it's all okay. I am okay working as the CEO…it's enough for me..
Lisa nodded. "It's understandable. Change can be hard for some people. But you deserve it, Canary. No one is more suited to lead Andersons Group."
Her words brought a flicker of gratitude to his face. "Thanks, Lisa. That means a lot, especially coming from you."
Her confidence brought a flicker of gratitude to Canary's face.
Without thinking, he stood and walked around the desk to where she sat. He pulled her into a gentle hug, surprising her.
"Thank you, Lisa," he murmured. "Thank you for believing in me and supporting me when I need it the most."
Lisa hesitated for a moment, then relaxed into the hug. "You've got this, Canary. Don't let anyone make you doubt that."
After a moment, they stepped apart, a quiet understanding lingering between them.
Lisa placed the folder on his desk. "Here are the project updates. Let me know if you need anything."
Canary nodded. "I will. And, Lisa… take care of yourself too."
She gave him a small smile before leaving the office, leaving him feeling just a little lighter amid the storm.
"
