Chapter 18 - Defeat the Beast Tide! Amazing!
The breath of the second rank Archfiend was very powerful, and the fluctuation of magic was almost palpable. Lynn’s expression changed ever so slightly. The monster then glanced in his direction. Under the strong oppression, Lynn seemed to feel a powerful force emerge from his body. Magic! Lynn had almost touched the magic within his body. The feeling of being watched disappeared in an instant.
Lynn held his breath and spat. At this point, the wave of beasts had almost been defeated. A thousand beasts who looked powerful had been taken out in less than a few minutes by the half beast warriors. Lynn frowned. There were some deviations in the plan. The monsters were basically defeated, and victory seemed inevitable. Yet, the plan to kill Sla’s servant seemed impossible now.
Lynn thought for a moment, and decided to do it himself. When the battle was at its fiercest, he went out of the gate and tapped some of the nobility servants’ shoulders to attract their attention. Meanwhile, the second class monster had been battling against one of Lynn’s warriors. The monster itself was a flame rhinoceros with flames bursting out from its back. It was a difficult opponent, but at the moment the half wolf warrior was not the main opposition.
Some of the soldiers were wounded in battle, but the legion’s advantage was apparent in an instant. The beast tide had caused little damage to the Half Wolf Corps, so dozens of warriors surrounded the flame rhinoceros. The battle was spectacular.
Lynn also found the Sla family’s emblem. It was a bar scale, where one end had a gold coin and the other had a human head. The Sla family started out as a war family, taking control of the town Tongmall. When Lynn walked past, the Sla family’s attendants were a little puzzled.
”Who are you?” they asked.
”Lynn.”
”Lynn?! What are you doing here?! Do you want to provoke us? You know I am…”
The attendant had a lot to say. For example, he wanted to say that their family’s strength was far beyond Lynn’s imagination. Lynn did not care and moved against him, declaring war between the two territories. He did not give the servant any time to finish spouting his nonsense.
Lynn was strict with himself from an early age. He did not choose to learn martial arts, but he was still better than the average person. The Sla family’s servant was pierced in the heart by Lynn and fell to his death. For the first time in this world, Lynn had taken a life, but he was calm and collected.
The world was cruel. Either he would hold a blood stained weapon, or he would by lying on the ground as a corpse. Lynn was only aiming for the Sla family’s attendant and after achieving his goal he walked away. He ignored the aristocratic servants who were shocked speechless. Lynn did not think about concealing his identity. This was a grand invitation after all!
Once Lynn settled things here, the main battle was far from over. The second tier monster was very powerful. Ordinary human armies could not stop it as they needed to be warriors or wizards to kill it. This was a stark contrast compared to the Half Wolf Corps. While the rhino may have been powerful, the Legion had greater numbers and strength. The magical flames on top of the rhino were gradually weakened as the battle continued. The monster was ultimately ended by the army in a destructive and decadent way with Lynn emerging victorious.
”Lord Lynn! Glory shines on you!” the Half Wolf Corps shouted!
The villagers began to leave the village to pick up the bodies of the beasts. They could be made into dry meat and eaten. Due to the wave of beasts, the problem of winter’s meat was solved. Of course, they needed a massive amount of labor in order to collect all of the meat.
The demi-beasts brought back the giant flame rhino into the village. The servants began to process the corpse, obtaining the best meat for Lynn and Lucy. The next best would be given to Buno and the entourage, and the rest of the bones, flesh, and internal organs would be given to the warriors.
Lynn counted the number of soldiers in his regiment. One soldier was seriously injured, twelve were slightly injured, but the rest were perfectly healthy. Lynn ordered the best herbs to treat the injured and rewarded them with a big bucket of wine. After the grueling battle, the beasts were happy with their rewards and drank excitedly.
The whole territory was busy, but Lynn went back to the castle. Lucy pounced into Lynn’s arms, and he comforted her for a moment before going into the study. Sitting on a chair, Lynn held out his hands and began to meditate slowly. He felt a very light fire red magic looming inside of him. Although he could not manifest his magic, he had basically mastered his manal. With the harvest of beast meat, Lynn’s day as a magician would soon come.
While Lynn was meditating, all of the noble servants began to retreat. They have reported the matter back to their houses through carrier pigeons, but they had to hurry. The Sla family has begun to die at the hands of Lynn. The first dawn after the tide finally came. The various nobles of Frost Maple CIty had received the news from the pigeons.
”Let me see how badly Lynn died.”
”Well… What the?! He won? Half Beast Warriors?! The second class Archfiend was killed? Lynn also killed the Sla family servant?”
The nobles quickly gathered at the main hall of the city. They shared the news they received, but everyone got the same message. Lynn had won! A broken nobleman who was driven out by the Kyles! They had blocked the wave of incoming beasts with the amazing fighting power of a semi-orc army! It was incredible.
Even more incomprehensible to them was that Lynn had actually killed a member of the Sla family. The guts on this guy! Was this going to be war?! The nobles could not understand where Lynn’s overbearing self confidence came from, but they could feel that Lynn was definitely not the little child they thought was going to be eaten. Theresa quickly arrived, but although her face was cold she was unable to hide the joy in her eyes.
”Ike. I am going to see your gold today.”
Ike was bitter as five hundred gold coins was a lot of money to great nobles. Not everyone could master winemaking like Lynn, who earned a few gold coins in a couple days. These ordinary nobles generally relied on the civilians in their territory to work hard so that they could sell their crops and other things. They had to save little by little. Yet, he could not turn his back on the bet with Theresa.
”Yes, my Lord,” Ike said.
”Someone from the Sla family was also killed,” Theresa added. “And I remind you that Lynn was in big trouble because he could not get the equipment. I trust everyone here with a good relationship with the Sla family to inform them about this news on my behalf.”
”Please stop! Do not ask for trouble!” Many nobles were afraid to speak.
Lynn had a big win, and Theresa who supported him had a massive amount of prestige. Theresa wanted Pauline to go tell the Sla family to eat the loss. No one dared to object. After solving the nobles’ affairs, Theresa got the five hundred gold coins and ordered the housekeeper to send them to Lynn. She was going to give them as a reward.
”Lord Count,” the maid interrupted, “please allow me to interject. I am afraid Master Lynn will not want the money.”
