Chapter 30 - 11,500 System Points!
Chapter 30 11,500 System Points! Time For the Fifth Evolution!
Lucy listened to Lynn’s plan on the next big events. The attendants were also called in for the discussion.
”Did any of you succeed?” Lynn asked his attendants.
While he was taking part in the test, he had arranged for the attendants to look for a capable blacksmith to hire, or to directly buy some weapons.
”We found sixteen blacksmiths, but unfortunately none of them wanted to leave this city. We also asked a few apprentices, but they gave the same reply,” reported the attendants.
”Alright. Let us go,” said Lynn.
He was not disappointed as he actually knew how to forge. The most simple hammering method did not have a high difficulty, but Lynn was not good at building and making durable weapons. It was better to have a blacksmith who had mastered the craft.
However, it did not matter if there were no blacksmiths willing to move to his land because he had a plethora of iron mines back in his territory. With sufficient resources, he was not worried about being able to raise a skilled blacksmith. It was only a matter of time. Lynn did not want to delay further, and he departed that evening after replenishing his supplies.
With the title of a magician, Lynn was able to move around more freely than before. No one wanted to embarrass a magician. Even after all of this time away from his land, Lynn was not worried. He had received System points everyday. This told him that his territory was safe even without any information reaching him. So, there was no need to rush.
Lynn would go to the marketplace first in order to look for a magic book. Gaining control of your mana was only the first step in becoming a magician. To go to war, you also needed a collection of spells.
Magic was a very expensive knowledge and as the Kyls family had never managed to raise a magician before, there were no books for Lynn to read. He needed to read some on flame magic before he would be able to master high level spells. Yet, magic books were hard to come by.
Lynn went to a total of twenty one stores before leaving the Central Aristocracy. Unfortunately, the vendors did not have the necessary books or they wanted to sell them for a thousand gold coins. Magic books were valuable, but their prices were determined on the level of magic inside them.
First order magic books where the mana consumption for a spell was within 10,000 points cost between 30 and 500 gold coins. Magic power was also recorded in such a book. Several of the magic books Lynn encountered were all of average power, but cost no less than 800 gold coins. The sellers were leechers. There was no way Lynn would buy from them.
Lynn could only write to the Magician’s Association to ask for help in acquiring one. It would save him a lot of effort, but he would have to pay dozens more gold coins that way. Lynn was not a stingy person, and when he failed to find one he figured that he should pay someone else to get it for him. He could not put a delay on obtaining power. After nine days, Lynn went to Frost Maple city where Theresa gave a warm welcome to him.
”You are my pride, Lynn! You are also the pride of Frost Maple City!” she said with red tinged cheeks.
”It is just a small matter, nowhere near enough for such a big compliment,” Lynn said, to which Theresa shook her head.
”The Frost Maples have never had a magician. For a Northern noble, magicians are very rare. We lack good teachers, but the Central and Southern nobles restrict us by not providing relevant knowledge. Yet, you did it. And you did it marvelously! Lucy has a good eye, and of course so do I.”
Theresa looked into Lynn’s eyes, and moments later she broke away from Lynn’s gaze.
”Well, today I will have all of the nobles come to celebrate your success! From today onwards, no one will be able to point fingers at you because of your status!”
After dinner, Theresa announced Lynn’s successful promotion to Baron. All of the Frost Maple City nobles looked at Lynn in shock, and one man was a little uneasy. The man was about thirty years old with short hair and eyes full of gloom. It was a look full of thought and despondency. He was Ino Sla.
Lynn looked at him a few times but did not say much. At the end of dinner, Lynn set off into the night to his territory. Two days later, he arrived. When he reached his land, Lynn was instantly excited as it had been a twenty five day trip away from his home. In that time, the area had changed into a large swath of yellow waves. The wheat had matured, and seemed to be of high quality.
The construction of the territory was also progressing well as the barracks were built with a total of twenty five cabins of good quality that could withstand a storm. It was not warm though. The average person may freeze, but the semi beast warriors had no problem in the slightest.
The flame mushrooms seemed like they had matured, and the green houses looked like they were connected. A total of a thousand fire mushrooms seemed to have ripened at the same time. That was five hundred gold coins! Lynn could feel that he would profit a lot from all the different goods he was producing.
Buno welcomed Lynn with warmth along with all of the villagers and the Half Beast Corps. Even though they worked in Lynn’s absence they felt that they were missing the backbone then held them up, but now that Lynn was back with a nobleman and magician title the whole territory was elated.
Lynn met the villagers and praised their work before going back to the castle. Lucy went to take a bath. Having already bathed in Frost Maple City combined with the cold weather at Fenglin Village, she was not actually very dirty. However, she was very demanding of her hygiene. Lynn took Buno to the study and heard his report on the territory.
What surprised Lynn the most was that the territory had an additional fifty people, consisting of men, women, and children. The territory had given them temporary houses, sufficient rations, and some simple clothing. They would need to work in order to pay for their personal belongings. Many lords treated civilians as slaves, but Lynn was different. If he made his people feel like they were working for themselves, they would be more motivated to work hard for the payoff.
”Pick ten men who are strong and have good minds,” Lynn told Buno. “I am going to train them to be blacksmiths.”
Buno hurriedly wrote down Lynn’s orders. He got up and let Buno rest while Lynn went to the barracks. With a total of twenty five days, Lynn’s points have also increased with every passing day. Moreover, with the increase in population, the amount acquired also increased causing him to gain a total of 11,500 System points. Lynn had yet to use the System points and they had accumulated during his time away. So, the half beast legion was about to get a great promotion. Lynn looked for the two generals first as they would require a thousand points for a further evolution since they were already rank four. Lynn used the points directly on them, and gained a fifth evolution warrior!
