The mother in law gifts me a mountain for a new beginning

Chapter 5 - Explore the territory! Discover the magic crop!

By this time, the wolves were scared away by Lynn. In response, he got up from the grass while Buno and the other villagers stared at Lynn in shock. Right now, Lynn was standing next to five of the three meter beast warriors. A moment later, Buno kneeled.

”The Holy Emperor blesses you, my Lord,” he says respectfully.

The rest of the entourage quickly followed suit and repeated his words. Of course, Lynn felt it was reasonable that the group did not know where the werewolf warriors came from.  All they needed to do was be loyal and obedient, and to never ask questions.  That is, unless Lynn told them to do so.

“Uncle Buno, help me get my armor,” demands Lynn.

The heavy armor that he was wearing was very bulky and uncomfortable. So now that he had the five warriors, the armor was no longer needed.  Once the it was off, Lynn took a comfortable breath.

”Now. Let us patrol,” orders Lynn.

Everyone looked at each other in shock. Usually it was deadly to be in the Maple Mountains, but Lynn wanted to look around like it was no problem. As they moved, Buno and everybody else were on guard to protect Lynn. They had no trust in the half-warriors. Buno especially did not, as he stood next to Lynn to be his shield in case the warriors attacked. Inversely, Lynn was relaxed as he knew that the half-wolves were absolutely loyal.

“Pick some of the fruits on that tree,” Lynn commands. “These berries are sweet and grab them. Buno, remember the location of these wild grapes. I have a lot of uses for them.”

“Half-wolf corps, go and collect the chickens in front of you.”

It was getting late, so Lynn finally chose to go down the hill. Everyone had their hands so full that they could barely carry everything, except for Lynn whose hands were empty.  When they got down the hill, the group noticed that some of the villagers had lit torches at the village entrance as they waited for Lynn. Once they met up with him, they were happy until they saw a few of the half-wolf warriors behind him.  They visibly flinched away out of fear of them.

”These are my soldiers, do not be afraid,” Lynn assures. “Go and prepare a few cages for them.”

”At once, my lord.”

The villagers prepared the necessary cages in a panic, while Lynn commanded the wolves to be at ease. Once the system points are replenished, I will have nine more warriors! Lynn thought.  This is when Lucy, who was followed by her servants, came over.  She was a little afraid when she saw the half wolves, but Lynn quickly put her mind at ease with a command.

”Down on your knees! She is your mistress!”

Slowly, the warriors kneeled before Lucy, as Lynn’s command was absolute.  Some of the villagers gasped in shock at the display. Someone just ordered a half-wolf! Lucy’s face blushed and her eyes became full of pride, as Lynn’s achievements were also hers.

“Well, Uncle Buno. Take the warriors to eat something, and prepare ten pounds of meat, two pounds of noodles, some berries, and some wild fruit for each one of them.”

”Your will is my command.”

Lynn gave the best berries and fruits to Lucy to eat her fill, and from what was left he ate.  Since he was not able to eat the large amount of food he gave the rest to his entourage, where the leftovers finally reached the other villagers.

Lynn was already accustomed to the gap between nobles and villagers, so he knew the amount of food was egregious in size compared to what they usually had. So much so that the villagers were in a panic. Lynn never had any extra kindness.  As a lord, even without knighthood, he was still a nobleman who took the best.  His close followers were next, and finally the rest of the civilians took the scraps.

If you gave the best there was, the villagers would grow fearful and probably kneel on the spot. In order to avoid that, the hierarchy was established. After he finished arranging things, Lynn went back to the castle with Lucy to eat the roasted mountain chickens for dinner.  The chickens, that were in the mountains all year long, had little grease and were very fragrant. Lucy was very gluttonous and ate many fruits and berries.  She also devoured half a chicken.

“Lynn, about those half-werewolves…” Lucy starts nervously.

“I summoned them.”

“Sure enough, Lynn, this secret cannot be known. Lest someone will come for you,” Lucy said with worry in her eyes. Lynn smiled at her and ate some chicken.

“Rest assured, we are now in a stable development, but no progress has been made… We need grain and grass first, then the army and materials need to be prepared,” Lynn half said to himself and half to Lucy.  Although Lucy did not understand and was pondering his words , she smiled instead as she came up with an answer.

”Lynn, you are right,” she says.

”Do you understand?”

”No, but you are right.”

Lynn laughed at her words. After dinner, he went to the study and researched some information.

”The Maple mountains are richer than I thought.  There is food, ore veins, and future soldiers.  All of which are almost inexhaustible, and with the Werewolf Corps, I can slowly explore everything. Yet, we cannot just hunt.  Ah, the nearby land is rich in resources but the labor force is too small. If there are enough people, Fenglin VIllage’s grain and grass will soon flourish. The grapes have also been found, so we need to change patterns and go up the hill to obtain the grapes, start making wine, make money, and hire people.”

With that, Lynn completed his plan. Within a year, he wanted to make an army and have plenty of grain. With that sorted out, he looked out of the window and used another skill the system had granted him.

”Territory exploration,” he activated.

In front of him, there was a map with two red dots. One represented Lynn while the other was for the location of a treasure. There were not many forks around the area, and it was estimated that there were beasts or monsters around.

“System, what is the treasure this time?”

“Answer to host: a weak magic wheat that cannot be used as a magic potion. However, the yield is very high, with about 1500 kg1 of it. It has two seasons a year where it can be planted, and it is adverse to changing climates.”

Lynn stood up excitedly! The most critical crop showed up! And so soon! The yield was enormous, with 1500 kg. The world that Lynn knew did not amount to much, but in a world that does not know about fertilizer, this was amazing. It was perfectly possible for Lynn to surpass the vast majority of nobles’ grain productions with just this seed! As soon as dawn approached, Lynn had to hurry and get the wheat seed!
