chapter 7
< 3. Enter the Dungeon (3) >
When he first started the 11th stage of the ordeal, Jung-hyeon was embarrassed to see that the physical attacks did not work on the slime. The first floor has no equipment or cards that can deal magic damage, so how the heck did they make it so they could break it…
Even after restarting, the result was the same. No matter how much I swung the stick, there was no damage. Jeong-hyeon thought it was a bug and seriously considered whether he should contact the developer.
It was around 30 or so times that I noticed that the slime’s movements were strange. At first, I thought it was moving randomly, but the slimes always reached the same location after half a turn. On either side of the wall, under a hanging torch.
Jung-hyeon belatedly realized that he could use objects in the room to defeat monsters.
It wasn’t something I didn’t know. But since the slime always cleverly kept under the torch, I never had a chance to interact with it. So, subconsciously, I didn’t even think about using a torch.
‘If I can drop the torch, it’s easy to catch it.’
Slime is both highly acidic and flammable. Even if you do not take any action, if you complain about it, it will ride on its own.
Andrea’s feet were very slow, but they were still faster than slimes. Reaching the wall first, Andrea swung her stick and tried to hit the torch hanging above it.
Slime didn’t look at it. A swollen slime body. It was a sign of mucus.
Andrea quickly threw herself aside. Sticky slime gushed out through a hole in the slime’s crown.
Steam rose from the mucus that covered the floor. If I was late to avoid it, all of my skin would have melted away. Andrea braced herself not to be caught off guard.
Andrea then swung the stick at the slime. It could not deal damage with physical attacks, but it was possible to arrange a push.
squash!
Thanks to the use of the hit card, the slime was pushed back by 3 or 4 meters. I probably wouldn’t have been able to push more than a meter because of the frustrating muscle strength if I hadn’t played the strike card. If it was a barbarian character with a starting strength of over 10, he would probably have blown the wall on the other side.
‘There’s no time to complain.’
Anyway, time wasted. Andrea knocked the torch off the wall by pushing it with a stick as the slime crawled back. As the torch hit the floor, the slime trembled briefly before leaping low toward Andrea.
“It’s too late, you liquid monster bastard.”
Andrea took the torch leisurely. Then, he burned the slime that was about to attack him.
‘Kureuk, kureuk.’
As the fire spread, the slime made a popping sound and backed away. The fire, which had been the size of a candle, quickly spread across the surface. After that, all I had to do was watch the sizzling slime.
‘It’s already turn 2.’
The time was not displayed, but because he had been playing the game for so long, Jung-hyeon could feel the turn passing by itself. Hyun Jung drew another card from his deck.
defense, strike, defense. Cards that are no different than before. Jung Hyun used defense this time. Now that we have the means to attack, it is better to prepare for possible damage. I could feel a thin layer covering my skin and hardening it.
However, there was something strange about the burning slime in front of him. Normally, when a slime is set on fire, it burns and the body shrinks, but this slime, on the contrary, swells like when it spits out slime.
In addition, even the slime that was approaching Andrea suddenly turned around and hurriedly crawled toward the corner. Andrea looked at it and realized it suddenly.
‘Oh, f*ck. It was an explosive slime.’
My body was faster than I thought I would avoid it.
pop!!
As soon as I threw myself into a corner, I heard a roar. Slime splattered everywhere as if a rice cooker had exploded. A piece of slime the size of a palm stuck to Andrea’s back as well.
A burning pain, Andrea hurriedly brushed off the mucus with her hand. Fortunately, thanks to the use of defense, the slime did not stick to the skin.
Explosive slimes look just like regular slimes, so you can’t tell them apart until you set them on fire. When I met a slime in the past, it wasn’t once or twice that I lighted it without thinking and stayed still, and then I was embarrassed.
Still, I was glad I did. If I hadn’t been late to dodge it, I would have been covered with all the acidic slime without any fuss. It’s not uncommon for explosive slimes to come out on the first floor, but it must have been a bit unlucky.
The room was devastated with debris from the explosion. Slime splattered here and there, clinging to the walls and floor, burning at will. It didn’t look good on the outside, but it turned out to be good for Andrea. The slimes stuck in the corner did not move, fearing that the fire might catch on.
Andrea took the torch and walked toward the slime that appeared to be normal slime. The slime threatened by squirting slime through the hole on the top of its head, but Andrea easily avoided it by moving one step to the side.
It was not difficult to light the fire and Andrea quickly stepped back. In this damn dungeon, there was no way I wouldn’t go through something like what I’ve already experienced.
Fortunately, the regular slime worked this time. The slime burned helplessly and slowly burned away.
All that was left was one in the corner, a spiny slime. Spiny slime has a habit of spewing out the spines on its surface when it feels life-threatening. As with exploding slimes, it was good to use ranged attacks if you didn’t want to die together.
Andrea intentionally left the spiny slime to catch at the end. To hunt just like this.
Andrea threw the torch at the spiny slime.
The direction wasn’t bad. But it lacked strength.
The torch did not reach the thorny slime by only a few inches. Andrea felt a tinge of wonder at this amazing muscle strength that could not throw a torch far.
Still, since the distance was close, I wondered how it would move, but it was in vain. The thorny slime did not stand still. Gathering the thorns to one side, he made them into fingers and lifted the tiles from the floor. Then he hit the tile on the torch to put out the fire.
‘What did I just see?’
Intelligent behavior that makes it hard to believe there is no brain. It was something I hadn’t seen in countless games.
It’s turn 3. Andrea was nervous. Around turn 4, even normal monsters show a new pattern. I had to subdue it as quickly as possible.
Andrea struck the remaining torch hanging on the wall with a stick. The thorny slime staggered out of the corner. I picked up a torch, but I couldn’t get close to it because it could spit out thorns if I got close to it.
Andrea, who was worried, drew a card. The cards that came out are Marco Summon, Defense, Strike. As I pondered the cards, I came up with a good way to send the torches away. I used a blow and threw the rest to the floor.
Andrea took only the tip of the torch and threw it into the air. Then, like a baseball player hitting a ball, he hit the head of the torch with a stick.
The feeling of hitting that feels right. The torch stretched out and hit the thorny slime.
‘Kureuk, kureuk.’
The thorny slime tried to split apart the unlit parts, but it was too late. The flames that spread in an instant had already spread all over the surface.
As a last resort, he spewed thorns all over the place, but it was not enough to reach Andrea. The thorny slime, which was burning with trembling slime, was completely burned leaving only burnt marks on the floor.
‘finished.’
Andrea sat down on the floor with her back against the wall. As the tension faded, the strength in his legs loosened. As expected, the battle experienced over the monitor and the battle experienced while fighting were different in the pressure.
It was so hard even when I knew the pattern and strategy, but I was dizzy what would have happened if I had come here without knowing anything. And as expected, I also learned that Andrea’s physical condition is a huge stumbling block when fighting.
‘I have to make this body strong quickly.’
Andrea opened her deck and took out a status card. In normal mode, you wouldn’t level up just because you broke through the 1st floor, but if you had enough experience for the 25th level of the ordeal, it would be enough. As expected, the level item on the status card had changed to ‘2’.
[Name: Andrea]
[Class: None]
[Level: 2]
[Max Mana: 1]
[Strength: 2]
[mana: 3]
[Resistance: 2 + 3]
[Luck: 2 + 3]
[quirk: none]
It would be nice to be able to increase the ability you want by distributing stat points like a normal RPG, but ‘Dungeon of Infinity’ is a system in which the ability increases by itself according to the level.
Because of this, Andrea had to raise her level by about 6 to have abilities similar to the initial stats of other characters. Andrea couldn’t help but sigh at the new realization.
‘Let’s stop thinking about what can’t be helped. I have to start with what I can do right now.’
The door to the next floor opened with a creaking sound. Beyond that door, there should be a chest containing the rewards from the battles on this floor. Since it was on the first floor, there was a high probability that there would be nothing different, but there was a ‘beginner’s luck’ buff, so I didn’t know.
Andrea got up. It was time to leave this room.
However, Andrea’s feet did not go to the door to the next floor. He stood facing the wall in the corner to the right of the door he had entered.
“Is this… can I do it this way?”
Andrea leaned back against the wall, then stood up again. And after jumping once, I sat down again. After that, get up again, jump, sit down, and repeat endlessly.
It looks like a bear rubbing its back against a tree. The behavior that others would call crazy continued. In fact, it was an act that made me feel as if I was doing something crazy myself.
As you can see from the lack of stamina stats, this place was not exactly the same as the game. What I am doing now can only be done in a game, but it was questionable whether it would be applied in real life.
But it was a futile worry. Andrea’s suspicion soon turned to surprise.
‘Wow, this works?’
The hard walls were getting softer and softer. The body gradually sinks toward the wall. Eventually, Andrea, who was completely sucked into the wall, swam for a long time in the pitch-black space where nothing could be seen.
It was a glitch.
It was quite a historical glitch. It’s been around since the game’s graphics were changed to 3D.
It was Jung-hyeon who first discovered this glitch. I found it by chance while rubbing my body all over the dungeon in case there was a secret passage.
There really was a secret passage. Although it may not be what the developers intended.
If you repeat jumping and sitting back to back in the right corner of the first floor of the dungeon, the texture of the character and the wall overlap at some point. If you continue to repeat that action, you will be completely sucked into the wall…
“Hello, Arpan? Didn’t I say see you later?”
You will be returned to the waiting room.
Arpan frowned and opened his mouth wide. The challenger who had just left was bursting through the wall.
“What is it, what the hell?”
