Chapter 2: The First Step
The late afternoon sun cast a golden glow over Elarion's cobblestone streets as Aria and her friends walked away from the ceremonial hall. The faint hum of magic still buzzed in the air, lingering from the ritual that had sealed Aria's choice as a Seeker.
"Seeker," Lyric repeated for the third time, her pale blue eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "You do realize you've just signed up for the most dangerous and unpredictable path possible, right?"
Aria shrugged, clutching the glowing opal pendant around her neck. "It's not like I had much of a choice. I've felt this calling my whole life."
Kael walked beside her, his brow furrowed in concern. "A calling doesn't mean you have to answer it," he muttered, gripping the hilt of his sword. "Seekers don't exactly have the best survival rate."
"Wow, way to be supportive," Finn said, flashing his usual playful grin. He nudged Kael with his elbow. "Besides, she's got us. What could go wrong?"
"A lot," Lyric interjected, adjusting her satchel filled with books and scrolls. "The history of Seekers is basically a long list of tragedies."
Aria stopped abruptly, turning to face them. "I get it, okay? It's dangerous. But I didn't choose this just for myself. I want to find out what happened to my mom. I want answers."
Her voice wavered slightly, and for a moment, the group fell silent. Kael's expression softened, though he remained quiet.
"Then we'll help you," Lyric said finally, her tone firm. "Even if it means dragging Finn out of trouble every other step."
"Hey!" Finn protested, though his grin didn't waver.

The Mysterious Encounter
As they approached the edge of town, Aria suddenly stopped, her heart skipping a beat. The air felt different—charged, as if the world was holding its breath.
"Do you feel that?" she asked, glancing over her shoulder.
Kael's hand immediately went to his sword. "Feel what?"
Before Aria could answer, a shadow darted across their path, fast and silent. The group froze.
"Okay, that's not ominous at all," Finn muttered, stepping closer to Aria.
The shadow coalesced into a figure cloaked in darkness. A voice, smooth and chilling, echoed through the air. "Aria Evercrest, the Seeker. You've chosen a path that will cost you dearly."
Kael stepped forward, sword drawn, but the figure raised a hand, and the blade began to shimmer with unnatural light. "I'm not here to harm you—yet," the figure said, a hint of amusement in his tone.
Aria's breath caught. There was something hauntingly familiar about the voice, though she couldn't place it. "Who are you?" she demanded.
The figure tilted his head. "Someone who knows the price of seeking the truth. You'll find out soon enough."
With that, the figure dissolved into shadows, leaving behind an eerie silence.
"Okay," Finn said, breaking the tension. "I'm officially creeped out."
Aria's hand tightened around her pendant. Whoever that was, he wasn't just a random stranger. And she had a sinking feeling this was only the beginning.

The Discovery of the Map
Later that evening, the group returned to the ceremonial grounds, where Aria felt drawn to a forgotten corner of the Seeker's Hall. The faint glow of her pendant intensified, guiding her to an ancient pedestal.
"What's that?" Lyric asked, leaning in as magical symbols began to light up across the pedestal.
"I think it's…a map," Aria whispered, tracing her fingers over the glowing lines.
The map wasn't ordinary. It shifted and changed, revealing locations that seemed to pulse with energy. One, in particular, caught their attention—a ruined temple in the far reaches of Elarion.
"This is it," Aria said, her voice trembling with excitement. "This is where we start."
Kael frowned. "Are you sure about this? That shadowy guy wasn't exactly giving us a warm welcome."
"I'm sure," Aria said firmly. She turned to her friends, determination blazing in her eyes. "Are you with me?"
Lyric smirked. "Like I'd let you do this without me."
Finn grinned. "Adventure and danger? Count me in."
Kael sighed but nodded. "Always."
And with that, the group took their first step toward destiny.
