chapter 95
94 – The Saint and the Magician in One Room.
Creak-.
In the late night, the sound of friction was unusually loud in the silence.
It was Justia who entered the room as the door opened.
She was wearing a pure white slip dress with a thin cardigan draped over her shoulders.
Judging by her attire, it seemed she had come just before going to bed.
The late hour and the pajamas were enough to make any man pay attention for any reason.
But Franz did not.
He just thought she had come because she had something to do.
The years they had spent together were too long for him to feel any excitement.
She felt more like a colleague or friend than a woman.
“What were you doing?”
“I was just about to sleep.”
“Were you?”
Eustia showed a look of embarrassment.
She must be sorry for disturbing his sleep.
Franz shook his head.
“It’s fine. It’s not like I’ll die from sleeping a bit late.”
“Are you sure that’s okay?”
Eustia showed a genuinely worried expression.
The joke he added to mean not to feel sorry seemed to have been a bit shocking.
Her old-fashioned personality remains unchanged.
Franz thought so and let out a small laugh.
“Yeah, it’s really fine.”
“Then, excuse me for a moment.”
Franz shrugged his shoulders and snapped his fingers. Then, the chair that was with the desk flew through the air and landed in an appropriate spot.
Eustia, who had flinched for a moment, sat down on the chair and said,
“Every time I see it, it’s such a convenient ability.”
“Well, it is.”
Magic had already become a huge part of daily life, so if he were to go back to the time when he couldn’t use magic, it would be incredibly inconvenient. For instance, if he were to return to the reality he originally lived in.
‘Actually, I’ve been having a lot of worries lately.’
At first, his goal was simply to end all this and return to the original world.
Maybe that’s why he was a bit sharper.
It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that everything depended on the subjugation of the Demon King.
Anyway, now his original goal had become quite blurry.
Even if he went back, he would just live as an ordinary office worker.
Now that he had gotten used to this world, living as the Tower Master, though busy, didn’t seem so bad.
Well, the stupid status window still bothered him, though.
Franz slowly shook his head to clear his thoughts.
They were all unnecessary thoughts.
First, he had to deal with the task at hand.
“So, what’s the matter?”
“I came to continue the conversation we were having this afternoon.”
Come to think of it, they hadn’t been able to finish their conversation because Yuna and Arian suddenly appeared in the afternoon.
Was it because the village tour had been somewhat enjoyable? Franz had completely forgotten.
“Where did we leave off?”
“I’m sure you mentioned finding the place where the sealed weapon is.”
“Ah, from there. A cultist told me the location. He said it would be when a single ray of light shines on the lake in the west of the continent.”
“When a single ray of light shines on the lake in the west of the continent?”
Eustia’s brow furrowed.
Seeing her look as if she were deep in thought, Franz asked with a small sense of expectation.
“Do you know?”
“No. I’m just annoyed. They always have to use some kind of code instead of just telling us plainly.”
“I agree. It’s really a pain.”
Going to the area, asking about the code, verifying it, it’s all incredibly bothersome.
This time, thanks to Arian’s grandfather, the code was quickly deciphered, otherwise, it would have taken a considerable amount of time.
“By the way, about that sealed weapon. Do you have it with you now?”
“Yes, I have it.”
“Then, can I see it? It might be helpful.”
She was right.
In matters like this, the saintess would likely be more helpful than a mere wizard like himself.
Franz immediately took out the sealed weapon from a small bag.
The blade that emerged from the bag shone brilliantly with a holy light.
And Eustia, gazing at it, murmured in a low voice as if entranced.
“This is definitely…”
“Do you know something?”
“At least I can tell it’s an incredible item. It’s beyond the relics stored in the cathedral.”
To think it was such an extraordinary item.
Come to think of it, there might be several more of these in the future.
And it was none other than himself who had to find them.
‘This doesn’t seem like an ordinary task…’
Well, if a god appeared and asked for it personally, it must be important.
Franz was realizing the gravity of the situation anew.
“Franz, what do you plan to do with it?”
“Well, wouldn’t it be better if I kept it for now? It might help us find other artifacts.”
“I see. Alright.”
“Huh? You’re not asking for it back?”
As Justia had mentioned, the item held great power.
From the perspective of someone serving the goddess, it would be a highly coveted item.
So, I naturally expected her to ask for it back, but her calm response caught me off guard.
Justia’s eyes widened as if she felt wronged by Franz’s reaction.
“I’m not that shameless, you know?! And all the relics stored in the cathedral were either donated by believers or bought at a fair price…!”
Surprisingly, the cathedral in this world operates cleanly.
Why did I assume it would be bad in the first place?
That was what Franz was thinking.
Justia added in a very low voice.
“…And if it’s you, I can trust you with it….”
“What did you say?”
Unfortunately, Franz didn’t hear her words.
It might have been a critical hit.
“Oh, it’s nothing! Just put that away quickly.”
Justia raised her voice and turned her head sharply.
She was embarrassed by the fact that she had said such things.
Why am I acting like this?
Normally, I wouldn’t say such things without thinking.
‘It’s all because of the goddess and that foolish secretary….’
Justia resented the two of them.
One kept talking about making a child, and the other kept provoking her competitive spirit.
Of course, Franz had no way of knowing Justia’s feelings.
He just put the blade back in the bag with a puzzled expression.
In the meantime, Justia, who had calmed down, spoke.
“So, are we heading west next?”
“Well, I guess so. I don’t know how far west we need to go, though.”
“Hey, if it’s too hard to handle alone….”
“Call me anytime.”
…were the words that almost slipped out of Justia’s mouth.
Thud-!
Suddenly, the door burst open, and something tumbled in from outside.
* * * * *
“I can’t sleep.”
Arian couldn’t fall asleep as usual.
Tossing and turning on the bed, she finally sat up.
Looking out the window, the moon was shining unusually bright.
It felt like it would be nice to quietly fall asleep beside the Tower Master after having a conversation.
Soon, Arian quietly slipped out of the room.
She wore pretty underwear just in case, and lightly put on makeup.
Who knows? A miracle of the night might happen.
What if someone saw her, or heard her?
She moved very cautiously down the hallway, just before reaching Franz’s room.
As she turned the corner, she immediately saw someone.
Standing in front of Franz’s room, it was surely a guest.
Arian held her breath and hid herself.
Then she peeked out to see the situation.
“Why is the Saint here…?”
The person standing in front of Franz’s room was none other than Justia.
At that moment, a scene flashed through Arian’s mind, a scene from the day when Franz and Justia had a secret meeting in the corner of the mansion.
Yuna had said something about making a child.
“That, that, slut…!”
Could it really be true?
Even though her personality was a bit bad, wasn’t she a Saint?
She thought there was no way she would have such a relationship with a man, let alone have a child.
But now it seemed all those thoughts were just illusions.
The Saint seemed to genuinely want to have Franz’s child.
While Arian was in shock, Justia opened the door and went inside.
Arian cautiously approached Franz’s room, carefully observing his surroundings.
He wanted to know what was happening inside.
If something really was happening, it would be sad, but on the other hand, there was also the possibility that nothing was happening.
‘Yes, if it’s the Tower Master, he would definitely refuse.’
Just as Arian thought this and was about to press his ear to the door.
“Arian, what are you doing…?”
A voice, half-asleep, as if just waking up, came from behind.
Turning towards the source of the voice, he saw Yuna rubbing her eyes.
Arian held back a scream and put a finger to his lips.
It meant to be quiet.
Yuna tilted her head in confusion at his reaction.
Fortunately, she was good at following instructions despite her lack of awareness.
Soon, Arian took Yuna around the corner and quite a distance away.
“Yuna, the Saintess went into the Tower Master’s room.”
“Huh? Why?”
“You know, we heard them talking during the day?”
“Baby, making a baby?!”
Understanding the situation, Yuna headed towards Franz’s room with Arian.
And just as they were about to press their ears to the door.
“Huh? What are you two…?”
Shh-!
Soon after, Hera joined in with a similar feeling, and an eavesdropping party was formed.
It was truly a chaotic party.
