The Price of Divinity

Chapter 7: Meeting

In the carriage, there is a large table with expensive drinks. Nala is looking through the window, seeing how beautiful everything is. Everyone is in their mansion; the grass and people are lively. This is how Nala has always seen the world to be. An hour in the carriage, Nala saw the barrier outside the gates where there are always guards to keep anyone from leaving.

When Nala was a child, they told children stories to prevent them from leaving the gates by accident. The story is about a little girl called Hana who, on a day disobeying the orders of her parents, sneaked out of the barrier. The first thing the girls saw was a large monster with a giant horn on their head. Hana tried to run inside, but they didn't let her in. The beast kills any kid that goes outside the barrier, and any child that misbehaves will be fed to the monster.

Nala, now an adult, knew that was a lie, but no one ever told her why she couldn't see the outside. Before crossing the barrier, they closed the window covers as a 'preventive' method for them to be safe. It has always been the norm for everyone younger than fifty to not see the outside unless you are strong enough to defend yourself from the monsters.

The journey to another district was long. Not being able to do anything but smile like a fool irritated her, but she had to bear the pain.

There were many bumps across the journey, but it didn't raise suspicions for Nala. When they felt the last bump, they stopped and entered the Loro district. The guards opened the window covers, and nothing changed from her district to this one. Everything looked lovely, yet something in Note made him feel suspicious as he had not been indoctrinated into the beliefs, but he decided to continue to see anything that can change history.

The mansions made a pathway to the central palace of the Loro family. Where the meeting is set to start. Nala was surprised by how large the palace was, almost twice the size of her mansion. The palace edges were covered in gold. The doors are made of a translucent material, and only the people with a key can even see and use it to enter.

After arriving and seeing hundreds of statues in the front yard, Nala was ready for anything to go wrong. Having only given one step on the stairs to get out of the carriage, Nala felt the gaze of everyone as she continued to get down.

Nala was happy that she was finally at the meeting to find any information on why Note was here and to try and prevent a tragedy. The gazes only amplified the more she walked towards the main entrance. The red carpet made Nala look like a celebrity. More and more people were coming out of their mansion to appreciate Nala's beauty.

People started to get closer to the palace and started clapping to pay homage to her beauty. Nala, feeling extremely overwhelmed, could only smile and wave at the people clapping. Birds started to land on her shoulder.

What should I do? Damn, it's scary the power of beautiful women in the world. With my amount of beauty, I can arm an army and rule the world. I am so happy that I am Nala, but yet what can I do?

Nala's mind started to think of countless scenarios that made this suffering end. The doors opened, and Nala speed walked towards the inside. Only to find it difficult to enter. She, with a little bit of struggle, managed to get inside.

Inside the palace, Nala was shocked at how magnificent everything was. The architecture was out of this world. Art pieces are so beautiful that they stand out by themselves. Precious metals everywhere, and a massive entrance all made Nala realize how rich everyone is.

The maids and butlers all directed their attention to Nala; no one inside that palace could take their eyes off Nala. The sensation is a lot more bearable for Nala due to the lesser magnitude of people looking at her.

Nala and her father made their way to the meeting located on the third floor. The door of the meeting was that of a safe with a passcode and everything. The guard outside opened the door and let them inside the meeting room.

Everyone immediately stared at Nala but regained composure, as this was one of the most important meetings of their lives.

There is a massive table. Nala counted and saw fifteen people in the meeting. Nala made her way to the top left side of the table, and her father sat across from her.

"Finally everyone is here! Now let's begin the meeting. Before anything, I would like to congratulate everyone present on their safe journey. You know how those nasty monsters are toward us." Loro stood up with a glass of wine, staring directly at Nala.

"Hahaha, how can those monsters do something against us? But Miss Nala might be in a little danger; I mean, look at her; her beauty is unmatched; those monsters would love to have her as dinner. Like me. A man next to her father stood and started licking his lips at the thought of being with Nala.

Nala felt an unparalleled disgust at how she felt touched by the man's gaze. Nala decided to stand up and talk on behalf of her father.

Nala looked at the name tag and proclaimed, "Haha, you are a jokester, Sir Franc, but today we aren't talking about me; please don't flatter me. Today, my father and I are here to discuss how we can take land from the monsters and continue expanding."

"Correct, Miss Nala, those monsters have been ravaging for a while. It's time to take back what's ours."

Long live the Astros! Long live the Astros! Long live the Astros!!!

The whole meeting started to cheer; Nala, not feeling embarrassed, repeated it but with a softer tone.

The meeting started fine with them coming to an agreement; however, at the later stages, it was interrupted by a breaking of the barrier.
