Chapter 6: Chapter 6 Homecoming_1
"Oh, our little Baby laughed," Old Master Situ hurried over when he heard that his dear granddaughter had smiled at his grandson, a sweet feeling stirring in his heart. He had not been graced with a smile yet himself. Old Master Situ picked up Situ Xin. "Baby, I am your grandpa, come on, smile for grandpa too." Situ Xin was speechless, how did everyone think of her as a clown for hire? She looked up at the old man who was usually so stern, and now he was gazing at her with such indulgence. Situ Xin also felt that her grandfather must have been practicing martial arts all his life, he was a completely different person from her maternal grandfather. Although Situ Xin was not comfortable with being treated as a source of entertainment, she still obliged and gave Old Master Situ a big smile. His usually stern face softened slightly at the sight of Situ Xin's smile, the corners of his mouth lifting visibly. "Very good, grandpa's lovely granddaughter." Old Master Situ tried to hide his joy but couldn't, "Baby, grandpa has chosen a name for you. From now on, you will be called Situ Xin. Do you like it?" Situ Xin didn't expect her name in this life to be the same as in her previous life. Hearing this name stirred complex emotions in her, she didn't know what connection there could be between her past and current life, "Grandpa, put sister down on the bed, I can't see her when you're holding her like that," Situ Jin complained as he couldn't see his sister while Old Master Situ was holding her. "You little rascal, what's wrong with grandpa holding my precious granddaughter for a while?" Old Master Situ scolded Situ Jin sternly but immediately softened his expression when he turned back to Situ Xin. Situ Xin was at a loss for words with her grandfather's quick change in demeanour, which was clearly favoritism. However, Situ Jin was used to such reprimands and wasn't scared, persistently clamoring to see his sister. Thankfully, Old Madam Situ arrived just in time to mediate, saving Situ Jin from a spanking and ensuring he got to see his sister contentedly. Old Master Situ, watching Situ Jin hovering around his precious granddaughter, swore under his breath, "You little brat, when we get back, I'm going to intensify your training." Situ Jin had no idea that his actions would make his future years very difficult.
Situ Xin was incredibly well-behaved as a baby, only crying when hungry or needing a diaper change, and otherwise she remained quiet, either sleeping or observing her surroundings with open eyes. Her docile nature endeared her even more to both the Situ and Loo families, especially the elders, who visited the hospital like clockwork every day. Old Master Situ and Old Master Lu even came close to quarreling over who got to hold Situ Xin, but fortunately, both family matriarchs were present. In the end, the two old tigers were outmatched by our little friend, Situ Jin, who was the final victor by getting to play with their treasured granddaughter while the grandfathers could only watch.
Situ Xin had been born nearly a week ago and still couldn't figure out where she was or what era she was living in. Her suspicion arose from seeing the clothes that Haotian and others wore, which were not from Situ Jin's era. The clothes seemed quite old-fashioned, loose-fitting, and utterly devoid of aesthetic appeal. Although Situ Xin was perplexed, as a baby, she could only stay in the hospital's nursery and was completely unaware of the outside world.
However, today Situ Xin was thrilled; she was finally leaving the nursery and the hospital to go home. There she was, dressed by her mother, whom she had only seen during feeding times over the past few days, "Baby, we're going home today. Are you happy?" Yaxin teased while dressing Situ Xin. Suddenly excited, Situ Xin tried to respond but could only let out an "Oh, oh," which delighted Yaxin, "Baby, are you trying to talk to mommy? Hehe,"
When Haotian returned from completing the discharge procedures, he found his wife holding their daughter, both beaming with joy. This warmed Haotian's heart, "It's wonderful, having a wife and son and daughter makes life truly blissful."
Since Yaxin was still in her confinement period, Haotian didn't let his wife carry any luggage or even the children, opting to hold the baby himself. Situ Xin, though swaddled snugly in her father's arms, could still glimpse the scenery as they traveled home.
But the more Situ Xin saw, the more alarmed she became, "In which era am I exactly? The hospital facilities look so outdated. It's nothing like the era I was reborn into. Moreover, everyone's attire looks, how should I say, old-fashioned?" Situ Xin wondered if it felt like she had landed in the 1990s.
While Situ Xin was still pondering the era, the loud "bang" of a car door snapped her back to reality, "Haotian, why did you slam the door so hard? Don't frighten the baby," Yaxin exclaimed with discontent, "Yaxin, I didn't mean to, I'm just used to using my strength," Haotian quickly apologized to his wife then turned to Situ Xin in his arms, "Baby, daddy didn't do that on purpose, please don't be mad at daddy, okay?"
Situ Xin, still just an infant, fell asleep in her father's arms soon after getting in the car, and when she woke up, she was already in her crib at home. Situ Xin was frustrated with herself for missing the opportunity to view the outside world by falling asleep.
"Sister is awake," Situ Jin announced readily, pulling Situ Xin from her regrets with his familiar voice.
