The rise of the King cobra

Chapter 15: An odd encounter

As I arrived at the location to where the scavengers parked, I made sure to park a few blocks away.

Now that it was night, I had the advantage on stealth. The only problem, I didn't have time to plan on what I could do.

Yet I didn't care, I had a job to do. I adjusted the two rings on my fingers, sliding them off and placing them on my arms.

The snakes soon grew in size and widened their mouths to have their fangs exposed, once I saw them finish, I had them close their mouths so I wouldn't poison myself.

The building they hid in was a four-story building, each side has five windows, meaning that it was an apartment or a motel.

But with how the scavengers work, they would have to tear down the walls in order to make space for the equipment to remove any cyberwear.

As for guards, they rarely have them and are mostly relaxed, since they operate in public areas. This would make things much easier for me to take them out one by one.

Finally, they hide their identities with holographic masks, luckily, they were just resources for me to scavenge. The irony was truly heavy in this situation.

Once everything was ready, I began to walk to the building with a different set of clothes. Blending in with the crowed, across from the building, I saw a small restaurant that had the perfect view of the building.

Making my way towards it, I entered and sat in a booth that faced the building. After finding a nice seat, the waiter arrived and approached me, giving me a kind smile.

"Welcome, I'll be your waitress for this evening, can I get you anything?" She asked me while twirling the pen in her hand.

"Just some black coffee, with three spoonful of sugar." She jotted down my order and soon left me alone, letting me observe the building more.

I noticed some people would walk around the entrance, keeping an eye on the people walking by.

While on the top, I could see some men walking on the roof, inhaling cigarettes and playing cards.

They were too lax on the their patrols, arrogant to the point that they expected no one to try to invade their base. However, that changed tonight.

After having myself some coffee.

After I had enjoyed the coffee, which surprisingly tasted great, I stood up and paid the bill and made my way down an ally.

Where I placed my suit with snakes covering it, after all, it's best to look nice when you are on the job.

After changing into the clothes, I smoothed my hair back and placed the mask. I then heard the cough of someone and saw a guard staring at me with wide eyes.

"I-it's for an event!" I blurted out, trying to convince the guard as much as I could. Hearing me say that it's for an event, he opened his mouth and nodded.

"Ohhh, rich shit, guess that makes sense on why your changing here." He replied and soon began to walk away.

"Don't worry, I'm not a pervert." He said and waved while leaving me alone. I could only stand there, flabbergasted what what just happened.

"I-is this city full of idiots?" I asked myself, only for the man to return with an offended look.

"Hey now, I may not be smart, but I try to get by, some of us have a life too you know." He said before leaving.

'He gets to live.' I thought while finally dawning my suit, once I finished, I had my snakes switch from poison to anesthesia, because I didn't want to kill a man who is too stupid.

After knocking him out, I entered through the back door, but then pulled back once I saw the camera.

Seeing this, I began to think on what to do. I could send the snakes to hold it in place, only to release it when I get underneath it.

Or, I have the snakes surround me and use their clocking abilities to hide my location. I chose the later since time is off the essence, having the snakes cover my entire body.

Once passing by, I was about to head into the upper floors, only to see a gate blocking my path, it looked more like a iron gate, since with the implants of today, some could just pry it open if it was a normal one.

I had the snakes coil onto the bars, sinking their teeth into the stone, and pulling the bars to the side.

Giving me enough space to slip past the bars and make my way onto the second floor. As I made my way up, I could already hear some small talk from a few guards.

"So, how much do you think we'll get?" Asked one of the guards.

"Probably not a lot with the new batch arriving, did you see that tan woman? She's got a nice body." Replied another, some began to murmur and agree.

"But not enough implants. Still, there's another use for her." The other guards were confused at first.

"We should use her before she is sold off to some corpos, you know, have an early taste." I could tell they were smiling at the idea, since this city is corrupted to the core.

However, I wasn't going to let that happen. So, I decided to add myself to the conversation.

"How rude. It's not a gentlemen thing to do to a woman." I spoke up, causing the guards to whip their heads in my direction.

However, instead of reacting fast enough, I extended my hand at the first guard. Gripping him by the throat.

The snake that stuck to my arm took the chance to appear, biting him on any open area, injecting the poison.

With the first victim bitten, I quickly moved onto the next one. They tried to raise their gun to shoot at me, but I gripped the barrel and pointed it away from me, thrusting my hand onto their chest.

Where the snake widened its jaws, stabbing its fangs into the chest. While the last one was close to pulling the trigger, I had the snake in my other arm change into a knife, throwing it at the last guard.

The guard stepped to the side and turned to grin at me, only to see a snake in front of him, biting into one of his eyes.

The man was about to scream, but the snake that flew by quickly jumped off the wall and bit him on the throat, cutting off the vocal cords.

"Sorry, can't have you exposing me just yet." I spoke while pulling the two snakes out. The one that was on his face pulled out the eye, while the one on the throat tore a piece off.

Letting the blood spew out and landing on the floor around him, while a bit of it landed on my suit.

"And this is why I wear a black suit, no blood can be seen." I spoke in annoyance, but then continued to walk to the next flight of stairs.

Before I could arrive, I saw a bat heading straight towards my face. I lifted my arms just in time to block it, but the impact still travels through the snakes and into my arms.

The pain I felt was too strong, but luckily I had the implants. If not, I would have broken arms, stepping around the corner was another guard, only this one had the bad.

"So, we got a gonk who thinks he can be a hero." She said while blowing some gum, as she chewed, I began to observe her appearance.

She wasn't as heavy or as muscular as the leader. But she had some odd implants, her knuckles had some metal showing, while some lines appeared on her arm.

They were either like my mantis blades, or an arm canon, but with the settings we are in, it had to be the blades.

I didn't respond and only extended my arms, letting the two blades pop out. Seeing the two blade appear from my arms, she only grinned and tossed the bat to the side, letting it clatter onto the floor.

Two blades also popped from her arms, the only difference, it had a blue hue, with electricity flowing through the edges.

'So, she's using an electric mod, better for those with more implants than organic.' The two of us stood facing one another, sizing each other up.

However, she did something that caught me off guard. As she went to take the first step, she instantly blurred towards me, my eyes couldn't register fast enough.

However, I didn't let it last for too long. I had the two snakes jump up to block the incoming strikes, however, I didn't expect them to blur like my opponent.

Since the two of them were able to block it, I tried to strike her when she was caught off guard, only to receive a kick from her.

The speed of the kick felt heavy, like I was being hit by a car, only smaller and lighter. The second her foot connected on my chest, I felt something crack inside.

I could only groan in pain and bite my lip, drawing blood as I bit down. Once I steadied myself up, I could only breath slowly, since every breath I drew felt like I was about to poke something.

Seeing my weakened state, she blurred once again. Aiming towards my head, for a second, I thought it was it, I was going to die here in some weird run down building.

Failing the kid who I promised to help, I felt guilty when I imagined him crying for his mother, he was lucky to have one.

The blade was just a few inches away from me, but soon stopped. I was confused at first, but I soon saw sparks flying out of her implants.

"F-f-f-fuck, you got a r-runner!" She cursed, only to feel a barrel on the side of her head.

"Sorry, but you lose." Said a cheerful voice, and the sound of a gun going off was heard. The only difference on this gun, was a blue light passing through her head.

As the corps fell in front of me, I turned to look at the girl who saved me. Which was surprising, she wore a black skin tight suit that clung to her body, and a pink jacket on top.

Her hair was black and was in a bob cut style, her eyes have blue irises. And she had this smile that was somewhat disturbing, as if she was hiding something.

"So, your the cobra." She hummed, placing both her hands behind her back, leaning down to face me.

She tilted her head to the side and began to observe my mask, soon a few more footsteps were heard.

"Ay, Sasha, you can't just run off like that!" Shouted a man, only to stop when I turned to face them.

"Oh shit, Cobra." Seeing the source of the voice, I had my guard raised at max. Since he was bigger than me.

"Sorry for my unsightly look, but I have a woman to rescue." I had the snakes rushed in between me and the group, blocking off the hallway completely.

While some of the snakes slithered under me, creating a clone to help me up. With the extra support, I had the clone help me reach the next floor.

Where the rest of the guards laid on the floor, with their heads blown apart. Small bits of wires and brain matter were seen, and some people were peeling through the door.

As I was about to arrived at the third floor, the ground behind me broke. Where the man that I saw from before climbed out of.

"Hey now, that's not nice of you to do. Shouldn't we do introductions?" He asked while aiming a cannon at me.

"The same could be said when aiming a weapon." I countered, he could only sighed and have it collapse back into his arm.

"Maine, that's all your getting." He said while crossing his arms.

"Cobra, I would say it would be a pleasure, but I would be lying." I groaned while holding my side.

"Well, seems I'm talking to the real one." He said, he was about to grab me by my collar, only for the clone to grip his wrist, spinning it and forcing him on his knees.

"Oh fuck no!" Shouted a female, who had a barrel at my head, looking at her odd green skin, and pink tattoos, I had a feeling to insult her height.

"Hello there."

"Alright, what the fuck is going on here?!" Shouted a familiar voice, all of us turned to look, only to see Gloria with a gun in hand.

And her hair let down, which I had to admit, she was looking more attractive than before.

"A meet and greet." Was all I could say.
