Chapter 3: The Mystery Begins
After the test, the Master stood before the group with a stern look on his face. "Congratulations to those who passed the test. The rest will be sent home," he announced. Your second course will begin tomorrow."
A boy, still catching his breath, raised his hand. "Master, what are the names of the second course and the others?"
The Master nodded. "The courses are as follows:
Basic Weapon Course (which you've completed)
Basic Parkour Course
Basic Combat Course
Basic Stealth Course
Advanced Weapon Course
Advanced Parkour Course
Advanced Combat Course
Advanced Stealth Course."
"Thank you, sir," the boy said, turning to his friends, eager to move on to the next phase.
The following day, after training and lunch, Ryu, Tony, Kai, and Jin made their way to the playground. They had been hoping to meet Wei, who had promised to share more about the strange rumors surrounding the cave.
"I wonder if Wei's found anything new," Jin said, looking around. "Maybe he knows more about the cave."
"I think he's on to something," Ryu said. "Remember, he seemed pretty sure of the rumors he heard. We just need to find him."
"Maybe we'll find him in his den," Kai said with a smirk.
"His what?" Tony asked, confused.
"His den," Kai repeated, with a teasing tone. "You should be asking, 'Where is his den?'"
Tony gave him a puzzled look. "Okay, where is this den?"
"The library," Kai said, pointing in the direction.
Ryu nodded. "Let's go."
When they reached the library, they found Wei seated at a table, reading a book. He looked up as they entered, a grin spreading across his face.
"See? Told you I'd be here," Kai said with a smug smile.
Wei smiled and waved them over. "Ah, you guys finally made it. Ready for some more information on the cave and the rumors?"
"We're ready," Jin said, leaning forward in anticipation.
Wei's expression turned serious. "Alright, here's the deal. There's a rumor about a secret weapon or power hidden deep within the cave. It's said that this power is so strong, it could destroy fifty stars at once."
The group exchanged confused glances. "Destroy fifty stars?" Kai asked. "What do you mean by that?"
"I mean vanishing," Wei replied solemnly. "The weapon could make stars disappear in an instant."
Ryu felt a shiver run down his spine. "A power like that could change everything. But what's the catch?"
Wei's voice dropped even lower. "That's the thing. It's just a rumor for now. But I've heard that workers are being sent to the cave at midnight to either find the weapon or guard it. Whoever holds this power could either destroy the world or rule it."
"Do you think we should go there tonight?" Tony asked nervously, feeling a chill at the thought of such a dangerous weapon.
Wei shook his head. "Not yet. We need more information first. It's risky going without knowing what we're up against."
The group agreed to wait, and two days later, Wei called them together in the library, his voice filled with urgency.
"What's going on?" Ryu asked, frowning. "Why the rush?"
Wei looked around to make sure no one else was nearby. "You know the kids who were expelled and sent home, right?"
"Yeah," Ryu replied. "What about them?"
Wei's expression darkened. "They never made it home. I've been looking for clues, and last night, I found something strange. I found three student cards—expelled students' cards—near the cave."
"How many kids were expelled?" Tony asked, his voice tense.
"At least twelve," Wei answered. "And I think something's going on. These kids are missing."
"I think we need to check out the cave," Jin said, a sense of urgency in his voice.
"I agree," Ryu said. "But we need to be careful. We don't know what's waiting for us."
Wei nodded. "I'll go with you, but we'll need to stick together. Something doesn't feel right about this whole situation."
That night, they met at 9 pm, ready to venture back into the jungle toward the cave.
As they neared the cave, Tony asked, his voice quiet, "Are there any wild animals in this jungle?"
Wei nodded. "The jungle is mostly safe, and the cave is under the control of Ex Agency. But be cautious. There are wild animals on the other side, so stay close."
The group made their way through the dense jungle, arriving at the entrance to the cave. Guards stood watch near the main entrance.
"What now?" Tony asked, his voice low.
"We'll take a different path," Wei said. "Stay close and follow me."
They moved quietly through the darkness, entering the cave through a hidden entrance. The air was cold and damp, the sound of dripping water echoing in the distance.
"We'll split up," Wei said. "I'll keep an eye on the guards. You guys look for clues."
Ryu, Jin, Tony, and Kai each ventured onto the cave, cautiously, searching for anything that might lead them to answers.
As Ryu walked deeper into the cave, he noticed a large stone that seemed strangely out of place. The surface was cracked, as though something had disturbed it recently.
"This stone looks broken," Ryu muttered to himself, reaching out to touch it.
The moment his fingers made contact, a blinding flash of light erupted from the stone, engulfing the group. For a moment, everything went white, and they all felt disoriented. Then, as suddenly as it came, the light faded, and everything returned to normal.
"What the hell was that?" Kai gasped, rubbing his eyes.
Everyone was confused.
"We need to go, now," Wei said urgently. "The guards are coming."
The group quickly gathered their bearings and moved back toward the hidden exit. They managed to leave the cave unnoticed, but the sense of confusion and unease was palpable among them.
Outside, as they regrouped, Kai spoke up. "That was strange. We didn't find anything, except for that light. What was that all about?"
"I don't know," Ryu said, his mind still reeling from the sudden flash. "It felt like something activated when I touched that stone. But what? What was that light?"
"I didn't find anything either," Jin said. "It's like the cave is hiding something from us."
Tony, who had been quiet until now, spoke up, his voice shaky. "I… I saw something. Something bad."
The others turned to him, confused. "What do you mean, Tony?" Ryu asked, his voice concerned.
Tony swallowed hard, his face pale. "I had a vision. I saw the Ex Agency being attacked. I saw everything going up in flames, and you guys—" He stopped, his voice breaking. "I saw you all dying."
The group fell silent, shocked by Tony's words. Ryu stepped forward, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Tony, listen to me. We're going to stop this from happening. We won't let that vision come true."
"I don't want to lose you guys," Tony said, his voice trembling. "But it was so real… The agency was attacked. It was on fire. And you were all…" His voice faltered as tears welled up in his eyes. "I don't know what to do."
Jin stepped forward, trying to reassure him. "We'll stick together. We won't let this happen."
Ryu nodded. "Tony, we need to know what's really going on here. If those kids are still alive, we have to save them. And we have to figure out what that vision meant."
Wei's voice cut through the tension. "We need to go back. I've got a bad feeling about all of this. But we have to be careful. There's more to this than we understand."
Tony wiped his tears, nodding. "I'm with you. If we can stop this from happening, I'll do whatever it takes."
The group exchanged determined looks. They knew the road ahead would be dangerous, but they couldn't ignore the vision Tony had seen. They couldn't let their agency fall or let the power in the cave fall into the wrong hands.
"We'll meet here tomorrow night," Wei said. "And we'll figure out what's going on. We're not backing down."
