The Sevpons

Chapter 5: Weapons Of Power

That night, Kai ventured to the cave, determined to investigate further. The entrance was blocked by a massive rock, but he quickly found an alternate way in. The air inside the cave was damp and cool, and Kai's eyes scanned the shadows, searching for clues about the Legendary Weapon. After a few minutes of exploring, he didn't find anything related to the weapon, but he did stumble upon some unexpected items: a Chinese fan, a pair of nunchaku, a chained blade, and two knives. Curiously, when he picked up one of the knives, it suddenly vanished. Confused, he packed the other items into his bag and left the cave, heading back to his room.

"Why did the knife disappear?" Kai muttered to himself as he entered his room.

Suddenly, Jin appeared at the door.

"What's in your bag?" Jin asked, his curiosity piqued.

"You're here?" Kai said, surprised to see him.

"It's my room too," Jin replied with a grin. "Forget that. What's in your bag?"

"I thought you were with Wei in the library," Kai said, still holding his bag.

"He's a nice guy, but no, I wasn't with him," Jin replied.

Kai, eager to drop the topic, announced, "I'm going to sleep."

"You didn't answer me," Jin persisted. "What's in that bag?"

"It's just comics you've already read," Kai said, lying.

"Okay, then. Let's sleep," Jin said, not pressing further.

The next day, after lunch, Kai headed for the library. As he walked, a paper airplane suddenly flew toward him. Reacting quickly, he raised his hand and a shield appeared, blocking the plane. He hurried back to his room, holding the shield. As soon as he placed it on the bed, the shield disappeared.

"What was that? The shield just appeared and then vanished..." Kai said, piecing things together. "It was the knife that disappeared earlier."

Kai attempted to create a shield again, but it didn't work at first. He took a deep breath, trying again, and this time it worked. As he concentrated, he also managed to create a knife, but when he tried to remove it, the door suddenly knocked.

Startled, Kai cut his hand as he fumbled with the weapon. The wound immediately healed and left no trace of the injury. He opened the door to find someone handing him a form to fill out. He pulled a pen from the air and began filling out the form. Jin entered just as he was finishing.

"Hey, you got the form too? Which style did you pick?" Jin asked.

"Aikido," Kai replied, glancing up. "What about you?"

"Jeet Kune Do," Jin answered.

"Do you know what everyone else picked?" Kai asked.

"Ryu chose Shotokan Karate, Tony picked Baji Quan, and Wei went with Taekwondo," Jin said.

"Where are they now?" Kai asked.

"Oh, I forgot. Wei and Ryu told me to meet them in the library," Jin replied.

"Then you should go meet them," Kai said, turning back to his work.

Jin headed off to the library. Kai opened his bag again to check the weapons and see if any of them had abilities. He pulled out the nunchaku first and tried a few moves, but nothing happened.

"So, the nunchaku is for Ryu," he muttered, setting them aside. "What about this chained blade? This seems like something Tony would use."

After trying the chained blade and finding it didn't possess any special abilities, he moved on to the Chinese fan. Again, no power. Finally, he checked the knife. It, too, lacked any noticeable ability.

Just then, Jin entered the room.

"You're here. Did you know Wei donated two million dollars to the Agency? He also bought the cave area for our training," Jin said with excitement.

"Nice," Kai replied, hiding the knife quickly.

Jin raised an eyebrow. "What's in your hand?"

"Nothing," Kai said, quickly closing his hand around the knife.

"There's something there. Show me," Jin insisted.

"Okay, here it is," Kai said, reluctantly showing Jin the knife.

"Will you give it to me?" Jin asked, his eyes lighting up.

"No," Kai replied firmly.

"You're my best friend, right?" Jin said, making a cute face.

"Alright, take it," Kai said, handing the knife over.

Jin eagerly accepted the knife but immediately cut his finger on it. "Ouch!" he exclaimed.

"Be careful, it's a real knife," Kai warned, shaking his head.

Jin quickly bandaged his finger. The next day, after training, they went to lunch together.

"Where's Wei?" Jin asked.

"He's in his room," Tony replied.

"Actually, Wei's probably in the library," Ryu said. "By the way, what's in that bag?" Ryu added, eyeing Kai's bag.

"We have a gift for you," Kai said, grinning.

"A gift for both of us?" Ryu asked, intrigued.

"Also for Wei," Kai replied, continuing the mystery.

"You're making us wait. What's in the bag?" Tony pressed.

Kai rolled his eyes. "Okay, okay. There are three things in the bag, one for each of you."

"And what's the bag for?" Tony asked.

"Stop creating suspense," Ryu said impatiently. "Just give us the gifts already."

"First me, first me please!" Tony begged.

"Alright," Kai said, handing Tony the chained blade.

"And now me!" Ryu said eagerly.

"Here you go," Kai said, passing him the nunchaku.

Ryu stared at them, disappointed. "It's a nunchaku. I wanted a sword."

"It's the only thing I have for you," Kai said with a shrug.

"What about Wei?" Ryu asked.

"A Chinese fan," Jin said.

"Give it to me," Wei suddenly appeared at the door, surprising everyone.

"Ah!" Everyone jumped, startled by his sudden appearance.

"Where did you come from?" Jin asked, trying to recover.

"You scared us!" Tony added.

"My fan?" Wei asked, reaching for it.

"Take it," Kai said, handing over the fan.

Wei examined it, pleased. "Nice design."

"Where did you get these?" Ryu asked, looking at Kai.

"I bought them for all of us," Kai said. "It's a gift for solving the first mystery."

"Thank you, Kai," Tony said, nodding.

Later that night, when Ryu was asleep, Tony took out his new weapon and began practicing. He accidentally cut his leg with the blade, but he bandaged it and went back to sleep. A short while later, Ryu woke up and practiced with his new nunchaku. He, too, injured himself but bandaged it and went back to sleep.

The next day at training, they met for lunch.

"Where did you get that wound, Ryu?" Kai asked, noticing the bandage.

"It's nothing," Ryu said casually. "Just practicing with my new weapon last night."

"I was practicing too," Tony added. "I got a wound on my leg."

"When you went to sleep, I started practicing," Ryu explained.

"Where's Wei?" Kai asked, looking around.

"Who knows?" Tony said. "He always seems to scare us."

"I didn't see him in the library," Jin added.

"That's impossible," Tony said. "Where is he?"

Three hours later...

"It's 6:19 pm. We should go check on him," Ryu said.

"Where do we start?" Kai asked.

"First, the library. Then his room," Jin suggested.

"We don't need to worry about him," Ryu said with a smile. "He's 16, after all."

They checked the library first, then Wei's room, but he wasn't there either.

"Where is he? We've searched everywhere," Ryu said, frustrated.

"Why are you all standing at my door?" Wei suddenly appeared, startling them.

"Why do you always scare us?" Tony asked, his voice filled with annoyance.

"Where have you been?" Jin asked.

"I was in the cave practicing," Wei said, nonchalantly.

"I thought you didn't need to practice," Jin said, confused.

"Practice makes perfect," Wei said with a grin.

"Well, now it's getting dark. You should head to your room," Ryu said. "We'll see you tomorrow."

Back in their rooms, Ryu noticed something strange about his nunchaku. Its color had changed.

"Tony, look. My nunchaku changed color—it was blue, now it's cyan!" Ryu said.

"My blade changed color too," Tony said. "It was silver, now it's cyan too."

"That's weird," Ryu said. "Should we ask Wei about it?"

The next day at lunch...

"Where's Kai?" Tony asked.

"He's practicing in the cave," Jin said.

"Hey, Wei, I want to ask you something," Ryu began.

"Did I miss lunch?" Kai suddenly walked in.

"No, we were just waiting for you," Jin said.

"Which weapon were you training with in the cave?" Tony asked.

"The katana," Kai replied.

"I was thinking we should all practice in the cave together," Ryu said.

"That's why I bought the cave area," Wei said proudly.

"Yes, but we should do it at separate times," Jin said.

"Alright. In the morning, Tony's turn. After class, Jin's turn. After lunch, Kai, then Ryu, and finally me. Everyone gets an hour," Wei said, organizing the schedule.

"I agree," Tony said.

"Me too," Kai, Jin, and Ryu all agreed.
