Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Killer Bee’s Rampage
"What's happening?" Motoi, patrolling on Giant Turtle Island, suddenly felt the ground tremble beneath his feet.
"Motoi-sama! The giant turtle seems to be acting up all of a sudden," reported a patrol ninja, hurrying over.
Despite the title of "guards," most didn't take this job too seriously. Giant Turtle Island, discovered by the First Raikage by sheer luck, had remained hidden for decades. Not even those outside Kumogakure knew of its existence.
Thankfully, the Fourth Raikage deeply cared for his younger brother. He ensured that the guards stationed here were seasoned elite ninjas. Though the unexpected disturbance caused some confusion, it was far from chaos.
"Send out the sensory team to investigate!" barked Motoi, his wild, frizzy hair bouncing as he rubbed the oil paint on his nose for focus.
"Yes!" The patrol ninja vanished with a Body Flicker Technique.
At the coast, two sensory ninja from Kumogakure stood tensely, focusing their chakra as far out as possible over the tumultuous sea. They strained to pinpoint the source of the turtle's agitation and the sudden, violent waves crashing against the island.
"What's going on?" Motoi, impatient as ever, arrived at the scene himself.
"There was a massive explosion in the western sea," reported one guard, visibly shaken.
Motoi followed the direction the ninja pointed. Though the sea had begun to calm, the countless dead fish floating on the surface were a grim reminder of the earlier chaos. The blood spilling from their bodies turned the nearby waters a vivid crimson, spreading ominously toward the island like a plague.
What kind of explosion could cause such devastation? A cold chill ran down Motoi's spine.
"That... that's!" One of the sensory ninja gasped, his body trembling as if he had just glimpsed a nightmare.
"What did you see, Damoi?" Motoi asked urgently.
"Chakra! Such immense chakra!"
"Is it an enemy? Just one? Or several?" Motoi pressed.
The trembling sensory ninja hesitated before replying, "Three of them!"
"And the strongest one... their chakra is only slightly weaker than Raikage-sama's, Bee-sama's, and Yugito-sama's."
Motoi's heart sank. Someone with chakra just shy of Raikage-level, comparable to Bee and Yugito—both jinchūriki—was no ordinary foe.
"The other two are weaker," Damoi continued. "One seems on par with Darui-sama, and the other matches an elite jōnin."
The weight of the situation hit Motoi hard. Even Darui, the Fourth Raikage's right-hand man, was among Kumogakure's strongest. To face opponents with such power...
"Should we notify Bee-sama immediately?" suggested a ninja.
"Wait! We can't confirm they're enemies yet. They haven't attacked us directly," argued another, calmer ninja.
"And what if they strike first? At that level, we'd be dead before we could react!" the first ninja shouted, grabbing his comrade by the collar.
"But Bee-sama is at a critical point in his training, struggling against the hatred and power of the Eight-Tails. If we call him now, he'll lose control and attack indiscriminately!"
Motoi hesitated. Both sides had valid points, but as the leader, it was his responsibility to make the call.
Before he could decide, a massive wave of malicious chakra erupted from the island's center, blanketing everything in its oppressive aura.
"Bee!" Motoi turned toward the island's heart, where the dark sky seemed to frame the grotesque silhouette of an eight-tailed, horned behemoth. Its tentacles lashed out wildly, and its roar carried an insatiable hunger.
"Yo! Who dares interrupt the great Killer Bee's training? Fool! Ya fool!"
The familiar sound of rap echoed as Killer Bee leapt into view. Cloaked in a crimson chakra shroud, eight tails swaying behind him, and horns sprouting from his head, he hovered on the brink of full bijū transformation.
"He's already at partial transformation?" Motoi muttered, sweat dripping down his face. "At least he still seems to have some control."
Quickly, Motoi bit his thumb and formed hand signs. "Summoning Jutsu!"
A massive owl appeared in a puff of smoke. Motoi scribbled a brief report on a small scroll, tying it securely to the bird's leg.
"Fly back to the village with this intel, quickly. I'm counting on you!"
The owl flapped its wings, struggling under the oppressive chakra but managing to take flight.
Meanwhile, Bee crouched atop a giant tree, his mouth wide open as he began forming a dense black chakra orb.
"A Tailed Beast Bomb already!?"
"Damn it! Everyone, fall back! This is beyond us now—don't throw your lives away!" Motoi ordered, his voice sharp.
All he could do now was hope those three outsiders could survive the Eight-Tails' wrath.
"Feeling nostalgic, eh, Sasori-senpai?" Deidara stood on the water's surface, hands in his pockets as the mouths on his palms licked eagerly. The thrill of facing a powerful enemy always excited him.
"It's the Eight-Tails," Sasori said dryly. "Why do we always end up dealing with rampaging jinchūriki?"
"Incoming!" Sasori warned.
A massive black Tailed Beast Bomb hurtled toward them, parting the sea below it with a deafening roar.
"Magnet Release: Iron Sand Wall!"
A sturdy black barrier of iron sand rose before them. Sasori, not wanting to be outdone after Deidara stole the spotlight with the Seven-Tails, had brought out his prized Third Kazekage puppet.
