Chapter 144: Chapter 144
Ron hadn't expected Kyler to die so quickly.
Even though Nina had already severed her father-daughter relationship with Kyler, she couldn't help but feel conflicted. Deep down, she hadn't wanted him to die.
However, Nina knew that Ron wasn't to blame.
Kyler had sought reinforcements. If Ron hadn't been strong enough, who knew what Kyler might have done? The supposed gesture of giving Nina her mother's keepsakes had been nothing but a trap.
"Why did I end up with such a terrible father?" Nina sighed bitterly. "Thank goodness I met you, big brother. Otherwise, my entire life would have been nothing but monstrous."
Her thoughts drifted back to the painful experience of becoming a Chimera Ant hybrid—a period she wished she could forget.

### Arrival at Sky Arena
The elevator descended, bringing Ron and Sally to the base of the Sky Arena.
Not long after, a car stopped outside the entrance.
Ron and Sally stepped out, greeted by Nina waving enthusiastically. Next to her, Shizuku mimicked Nina's excitement, waving just as energetically.
"Big brother, Lisa!" Nina called out.
"Captain, Lisa!" Shizuku echoed.
Ron nodded at the two. Sally, seeing their warmth, became even more certain that Nina and Shizuku had been her friends before her amnesia. Her trust in Ron also deepened.
"Let's head upstairs," Ron suggested. "I brought some gifts for you from Yorknew City."
Sky Arena was located in a bustling, modern city, but Yorknew was just as impressive. Controlled by the Underworld Mafia, Yorknew openly sold items that were illegal elsewhere. Its markets and auctions boasted a variety unmatched by any other place.
Ron had not only acquired items from the auction but had also picked up many unique goods from the flea market.

### Familiar Faces in the Elevator
As they stepped into the elevator, a familiar figure came into view—Sadaso.
Sadaso noticed Ron as well. Standing next to Sadaso was another young man in a striking red outfit, smiling brightly.
Ron's mind raced. "Could this guy be Gido?"
Like Sadaso, Gido was a rookie killer introduced in the Sky Arena arc of the original storyline. He had been the first to target Gon, believing that his developed Nen abilities would make the battle a breeze. However, Gido underestimated Gon's innate talent, as Gon mastered the Zetsu technique during their fight.
In the original storyline, Gido was depicted as a sinister and calculating figure, willing to do anything to achieve his goals. The sunny demeanour he displayed now was entirely at odds with that image. Ron speculated that such a drastic personality shift might have been caused by the harsh "rookie baptism" ritual, which could profoundly affect a person.
"But it might not even be Gido," Ron thought. "Maybe he just likes red."
Ron turned his gaze away, choosing not to dwell on it.
Before the elevator reached the 100th floor, Sadaso and the young man had exited. Ron and his group continued to the 200th floor.

### Back at the Suite
As the suite door opened, White Bear greeted them with enthusiasm, wagging its tail and circling Ron. White Bear had seen Nina and Shizuku daily but hadn't seen Ron in a while, making its excitement palpable.
However, White Bear was wary of Sally, even showing signs of hostility.
Ron gestured toward Nina, who quickly gave White Bear a signal. Recognizing the command, White Bear trotted over to Sally, sniffing her curiously.
Sally hesitated but soon smiled, reaching out to pat its head.
The group entered the suite.
"This is Nina," Ron said, pointing to her. "And this is Shizuku."
He gestured around the luxurious apartment. "This is the suite Sky Arena assigned to me. You used to stay here for quite a while. Do you remember anything?"
Sally looked around carefully, trying hard to recall, but eventually shook her head, frustration evident in her voice. "I'm sorry. I can't remember anything."
"That's okay." Ron placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "It doesn't matter if you can't remember. Just know that we're your friends. From now on, let's start anew."
---
### Gifts and Preparations
Ron opened his suitcase.
"Nina, Shizuku, I brought these gifts for you," he said, presenting handmade crafts and various snacks.
"Thank you, big brother!" Nina beamed.
"Thanks, Captain!" Shizuku added cheerfully.
Ron turned to Sally. "Lisa, I got something for you too. Come and pick one."
"Thank you," Sally replied with a smile.
Afterwards, Ron pulled Nina aside into her and Shizuku's room. If Sally was going to live here, it had to look authentic—there should be clothes, personal items, and signs that Sally had stayed there before.
"We'll need a mix of new and used items," Ron said. "Nina, you'll handle this."
Nina nodded. "Got it."
---
### Planning for Departure
Ron's phone rang.
"Grandfather Zeno," he answered.
"Ron, your great-grandfather is done with his seclusion. If you're available, come back soon," Zeno said.
"Yes, Grandfather. I'll leave tomorrow."
Later, Ron visited the 200th-floor reception desk to register for a match the next day. If one was available, he would compete before heading to the Zoldyck estate. If not, he would still register and forfeit the match later—just as Hisoka had done in the original series.
Becoming a Floor Master wasn't a priority for Ron. For now, Sky Arena served as a convenient base for his team's early operations.
Sky Arena provided a perfect environment for training, offering both privacy in its luxurious suites and practical combat experience in its matches.
Nina, for instance, had undergone dozens of matches, greatly improving her mindset, experience, and technique. Shizuku could follow a similar path.
Sally's situation, however, was unique.
As a remnant of the Republic Gorteau, she carried the heavy burden of avenging her homeland against the Underworld Mafia—a goal that demanded exceptional strength.

Update on the bleach story
Hello everyone. I have some bad news. The Bleach fanfiction was taken down due to copyright issues. I reached out to customer support, but they require a notarized legal document that I am allowed to translate it. Unfortunately, I only have a chat from the original author and cannot provide any legal documents since I don't know the author personally. The chat is not sufficient proof. I will try contacting another customer support representative, as the one I spoke with failed to provide clear information on their terms of service regarding fanfiction. This is particularly strange because, before I began, I checked the rules and, from my understanding, there were no requirements regarding fanfiction as long as proper credit is given to the original author.
Hopefully I can get up the other story soon since they said they need to talk to their admin. Dont know how long it would take though.
