The Strongest Brain in the Interstellar

Chapter 45 - Mental Strength Levels

The original owner’s parents were both awakened beings with a final mental strength rating of A or above. Her mother was even an A+ level mecha soldier, making them both high-tier awakened individuals.

So what is A+? It’s certainly not just a little higher than A.

Currently, the mental strength levels recognized by the interstellar society are divided into seven main categories: D, C, B, A, S, double S, and triple S. These seven levels are the standard classifications.

The level currently certified for Jiang Hui is B. On the surface, this looks fairly good and should be considered an average level in the interstellar community. So why is her family dissatisfied with her rating?

While these seven major ratings are the most common in the interstellar society, in reality, people mostly come into contact with the first five levels. Levels like double S and triple S are reserved for top-tier awakened beings, with only a few emerging every ten or eight years. Whenever such individuals are identified, they are usually recruited by the military and placed in the military and political system for secret training, preparing them to be independent leaders.

Thus, the S level is widely recognized as the mark of a genius. Major military academies compete every year to enroll these exceptionally gifted students, who undergo extensive training before being integrated into the military system to become high-ranking reserve officers.

The next level down is A. Although this is just one rank lower than S, the qualifications for A are significantly inferior. However, this level remains a backbone among all awakened individuals. There aren’t many at this level, but the numbers are considerably higher than S, and with proper training, they also serve as reserve officers for high-ranking generals.

The original owner’s parents actually belonged to this category. In particular, Jiang Hui’s mother was only 65 years old at the time of her death and had already reached the rank of at least captain in her military career, while Jiang Hui’s father held the rank of captain. After their deaths, the military posthumously promoted them to major and lieutenant colonel to honor their contributions to the empire, and their children also enjoy corresponding benefits.

At their age, they had already achieved much within the military. Had they not sacrificed their lives on the battlefield at such a young age, they would likely have had even more opportunities in the future. But it is meaningless to discuss possibilities now; they are already gone.

Then there are the intermediate levels B and C, followed by level D. D is the lowest level within the mental strength ratings, but in fact, it is not strictly the lowest, as there are also levels E and F below it. However, these two levels are so low that they are unsuitable for most jobs and professions requiring mental strength. Therefore, they are generally overlooked and are summarized as mental strength D-.

Some may wonder what the additional X+ and X- ratings are all about. If we count them, there seem to be over a dozen levels. In fact, levels like A+, B+, C+, and even S+ are not considered official mental strength ratings; they are more accurately described as indicators of potential.

To clarify, Jiang Hui’s mother, Jiang Yilin, has a mental strength rating of A+, while her father, has a rating of A. Both are technically categorized as A-level mental strength ratings. However, the former, Jiang Yilin, is classified as an A+ awakened individual, which means she possesses combat capabilities exceeding the ordinary limits of A level and can enhance her strength beyond a certain threshold. By reaching a critical point or through the continuous nourishment of special potions, she could directly cross the A level range to achieve S level.

Such instances are not unheard of in the history of the empire; in fact, there are many. Many renowned generals have gone through this phase, transitioning from A+ to S level, ultimately becoming S-rated awakened individuals.

Therefore, although A+ is technically within the A category, it represents an awakened individual with S-level potential—essentially a transitional level that is just shy of fully crossing into S level. These awakened individuals are often valued by the military hierarchy because they embody potential and explosive power, and their personalities tend to be more resilient since they are not bound by innate conditions.

Jiang Hui’s father, falls into the more common category of mental strength levels. However, his mental strength is also relatively strong, and during his peak years from around 75 to 125, he could potentially advance to half a level higher, aiming for A+.

This shows that mental strength levels are not entirely fixed; with sufficient opportunities and resilience, individuals can achieve breakthroughs across minor to mid-levels through certain methods. However, for the military, which lacks significant generational change, there isn’t much time to wait for individuals to grow. Unless one is a true prodigy who can disregard various limitations, most will still rely on their innate talent.

Jiang Hui’s parents have relatively high mental strength ratings. According to the laws of biological evolution, Jiang Hui’s mental strength is expected to eventually reach at least A level, if not higher. The Jiang family initially hoped that Jiang Hui might achieve A+ or even S level. This has been the hope of many within the family for Jiang Hui.

Unfortunately, Jiang Hui experienced her second awakening too early, and the level of her second awakening turned out to be exactly the same as the first, remaining at her original mental strength level.

This was a significant blow for someone who had the potential to become a high-level awakened individual. It meant that she would almost certainly never become a high-level awakened individual in her lifetime.

Interstellar beings generally have three awakenings, regardless of their mental strength level, they all go through these three awakenings. Those who have not completely undergone all three are considered partially awakened. After the three awakenings, a person’s mental strength is generally regarded as fixed; even if there are fourth, fifth, or sixth awakenings later on, they are rare and not everyone has them. Therefore, most people are classified based on their mental strength after three awakenings.

The second awakening is usually the most critical and significant phase of all awakenings, with the strongest enhancement occurring during this period. Originally, Jiang Hui had a B-level mental strength after her first awakening. Given her genetic background and the trend of her awakenings, her second awakening should have reached at least B+ level, and with a bit of luck, it could have reached A level.

However, the original body stumbled at this critical point, remaining stagnant. Thus, even if she had a third awakening, it would likely not change much; the situation was essentially set, and at most, she would be a B+. This significant gap compared to her parents’ talents and the family’s expectations was a considerable blow to her.

Although her family was somewhat disappointed with her level, they did not treat her harshly. After all, she was a military child, and her level wasn’t actually that bad. Even if she could not join the military in the future, her prospects were still considered promising, and supporting her within the family would not require much effort.

However, the original body could not bear it. It wasn’t the disparity in treatment but rather the strange looks from some family members. She had once been a promising child within the clan. Even though she lived a low-key life and never boasted or mocked others, she couldn’t even be called unfortunate before some people started to look at her as a joke, both openly and subtly.

On the surface, they came to comfort her, but in reality, it was mockery, as if that would grant them a sense of superiority.

In such circumstances, the original body chose to leave Kemeier Star.
