The Strongest Eriri in History

Chapter 272: Hello? Are You There?

"Myu, let me introduce someone. This is your new big sister, Megumi Kato," Eriri said with a smile after finishing their greetings.

Myu looked curiously at the quiet girl standing nearby but showed no resistance. With a sweet voice, she greeted her warmly.

"Nice to meet you, Megumi-nee."

"Nice to meet you too, Myu. Just like Eriri and the others said, you're adorable," replied Megumi with a slight smile as she stepped forward and patted Myu's head.

It seemed head pats were the universal greeting for children. Myu's face lit up, her eyes narrowing contentedly as she enjoyed the affection.

At that moment, Remia, hearing Myu's excited shouts, hurried out of the house.

When she saw Eriri and Arifureta, her reaction mirrored her daughter's—pure delight.

"Oh my, isn't this Eriri and Arifureta! It's been so long!"

Even though their previous encounter was brief, Remia couldn't forget them. Whether it was their breathtaking beauty or the impact of their actions in this world, Eriri and Arifureta left an indelible impression.

Perhaps it was this familiarity that kept Remia from showing the fear many had towards Eriri.

"It's been a while, Miss Remia."

"You came at just the right time. I was just preparing dinner. Why don't you stay and eat with us tonight?" Remia clasped her hands together in front of her chest, her expression full of anticipation.

Myu added her own plea, her wide, sparkling eyes looking up at Eriri. "Mhm! Eriri-nee, you'll stay, right?"

"Of course."

"Yay!"

With Eriri's answer, Myu let out an excited cheer, throwing her small arms around Eriri's neck. Remia smiled warmly, inviting everyone into their home.

After passing through the short entryway, they arrived in a spacious living room. On the left side, against the wall, was a comfortable sofa. Above it, set into the wall, was a fireplace about two meters wide.

Next to the sofa was a rectangular table covered with a pristine tablecloth, clearly used for meals.

"Make yourselves comfortable while I finish preparing dinner," Remia said before heading back to the kitchen.

As Remia busied herself, she realized the arrival of their guests meant her original meal plan wouldn't suffice. Thankfully, the house was stocked with enough ingredients, so a trip to the market wasn't necessary.

Seated on the sofa, Myu clung to Eriri's arm, her excitement bubbling over. "Eriri-nee, I saw you in the sky before!"

"Did you? What did you think of your big sister's performance?" Eriri asked, her tone playful.

Myu was referring to the live broadcast of Eriri's judgment of the Horesh Empire, including the chilling scene of the empire's destruction. Eriri wanted to know how Myu perceived it.

"You were amazing, Eriri! Mama said that empire was full of bad people who liked capturing us Beastkin. She said you're our savior!" Myu said, her eyes shining with admiration.

"But when I told others that I know you, no one believed me. They said I was making it up. Hmph!"

Myu puffed out her cheeks in an adorable pout, clearly unhappy.

Eriri chuckled softly. For a child Myu's age, a mother's words were absolute truth.

The reason Myu held such positive feelings despite witnessing something so brutal likely stemmed from her initial impression of Eriri and how Remia had described her.

If Remia had painted Eriri as a heartless demon, their current reunion would have played out very differently.

While the Kashiwagi Eri faith was now widespread, some humans still harbored fear or hatred for Eriri. This was especially true of the few survivors of the fallen empire. Though the empire's capital had been wiped out for harboring Beastkin, it couldn't erase the grief of the survivors who lost loved ones.

But Eriri didn't care about the lingering hate. If any dared act on it, her devoted followers would handle it long before she needed to intervene.

"Well, that's because they don't know what a sweet girl you are, Myu. How could you ever lie?" Eriri said as she lifted Myu onto her lap, holding her close.

"Exactly! Myu never lies! Hehe."

Some time later, Remia emerged from the kitchen with an array of aromatic seafood dishes. She filled the rectangular table until it was brimming with plates of sumptuous food.

Although the variety didn't match the lavish seafood feast Eriri had previously enjoyed in a local inn, Remia's home cooking carried a unique warmth and flavor.

The house where Myu and Remia lived was spacious. In addition to their bedrooms, there were three unused guest rooms. Clearly, Remia hadn't been joking when she'd once invited Eriri and Arifureta to stay.

That night, they decided everyone would sleep together.

Eriri enlarged Myu's small bed and blankets to accommodate everyone. Myu and Arifureta each slept on either side of Eriri, while Megumi took the other side of the bed. Remia, meanwhile, had to settle for her solitary bedroom.

The next day, Eriri and her companions took Myu and Remia on another tour of the world. The flying ship Eriri had previously created once again proved its worth.

During this time, they visited various familiar faces. They saw Liliana and Shizuku Yaegashi building a new royal knight order. They also spotted Hajime Nagumo and Kaori Shirasaki braving the harsh environment of the Gruen Desert in their vehicle.

On their return to Remia's home by evening, it was already after six. It was finally time for Eriri and the others to bid farewell.

After this trip back to the Saekano world, Eriri's large family gained two new members.

During their sightseeing today, Eriri had not hidden the truth about her and Megumi's origins, so both Myu and Remia learned that Eriri and Megumi came from another world. They also discovered that Arifureta and Shea were now living with Eriri in that world.

Upon hearing this, Myu immediately expressed her desire to follow Eriri to the Saekano world, and Remia looked equally tempted.

The mother and daughter had no close relatives left in their current world and shared only neighborly relationships with the residents of the floating city. Despite many young men pursuing Remia, she clearly had no intention of accepting anyone.

Naturally, Eriri had no reason to refuse. After all, her home still had plenty of empty rooms, and Myu was simply too adorable.

Besides, this wasn't a one-way trip. If they found life in the Saekano world unsuitable, Eriri could always send them back. However, she doubted such a situation would arise.

Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!

An urgent alarm blared in a pink-themed bedroom. A single bed occupied the room, and the source of the noise came from a clock on the bedside table.

Beneath the thin blanket on the bed lay a small figure, completely covered.

A delicate arm emerged from the covers, reaching for the alarm clock. The moment her hand touched it, a faint current of electricity flowed into the clock. Instantly, the alarm stopped, and a thin trail of black smoke rose from the clock.

With the noise silenced, the pale arm retreated contentedly back under the blanket.

Time ticked on, and over an hour passed before the figure under the blanket stirred again.

The same arm emerged, this time groping for the phone beside her pillow.

"What? It's already 9:30?"

A startled cry erupted as a petite, fair-skinned figure abruptly sat up on the bed. In her hand was an iPhone encased in a pink shell, its screen clearly displaying 09:35.

Her slightly disheveled black shoulder-length hair, dreamy brown eyes, and delicate, doll-like face—currently tinged with panic—revealed her identity: Yuzuru Hanyu, who was supposed to report to Yumenosaki Academy today.

"What's going on? I set the alarm for 8:00! Why didn't it go off?!"

Yuzuru Hanyu turned to grab the alarm clock on her bedside table. Seeing the hands stuck and unmoving, a wave of exasperation swept over her.

"I just bought this thing yesterday, and it's already broken? Stupid clock!"

Muttering under her breath, Yuzuru Hanyu tossed the broken clock aside. It wasn't worth much, and she couldn't be bothered to argue with the online seller.

But the clock wasn't her main concern right now.

She was late.

Yumenosaki Academy's classes started at 9:00, and she had arranged to meet her homeroom teacher at the same time. Now, it was already 9:30. Even though her rented apartment was close to the school, factoring in time to get ready, she wouldn't arrive before 10:00. That meant she'd be an hour late.

Her yet-to-be-met homeroom teacher was probably trying to contact her.

Sure enough, as Yuzuru Hanyu unlocked her phone, she saw four missed calls.

Yuzuru Hanyu had a habit of silencing her phone at night to avoid notifications from various apps interrupting her sleep. Because of this, she hadn't heard the calls.

Opening the missed calls log, she confirmed that all four were from her homeroom teacher, with the most recent one just ten minutes ago.

Frustration bubbled up as she stared at the log. Her resentment toward the malfunctioning alarm clock deepened.

"Forget it, I'll just skip today," Yuzuru Hanyu muttered, flopping back onto the bed and pulling the blanket over her head.

One second passed. Two seconds. Three seconds…

Ten seconds later, Yuzuru Hanyu sat back up with a groan.

"Ugh, whatever. Late is late. It's the first day, so it shouldn't matter too much. For the sake of wooing Eriri, I need to push through!"

Thinking of Eriri, Yuzuru Hanyu's motivation reignited. Determined, she clicked on the most recent missed call and hit redial.

Beep... Beep... Beep...

The call connected.

"Hello? Is this Ms. Toda? I'm so sorry! My new alarm clock broke, and I overslept… ehe~"

"Yes, my phone was on silent because it gets so noisy at night…"

"Mm-hmm."

"Thank you!"

"Okay."

"Alright."

"I understand!"

"Mm."

"Mm."

"See you soon!"

Beep... Beep... Beep.

The call ended.

"Phew…" Yuzuru Hanyu exhaled deeply, staring at her phone's screen, which had returned to the missed calls log. "Good thing Ms. Toda is understanding. Otherwise, this could've been a mess."

Recalling her brief meeting with her homeroom teacher—a kind-looking woman in her forties—when she visited the school to pay her fees and collect her uniform, Yuzuru Hanyu felt her mood lift.

After all, no one wanted a strict teacher for a homeroom instructor.

From both that meeting and the phone call, Yuzuru Hanyu concluded that being in Ms. Toda's class would be a breeze.

Tossing her phone onto the bed, she threw off the blanket entirely. Feeling rejuvenated, Yuzuru Hanyu grabbed her blue-and-white striped panties and began to get dressed...
