The Three MuskeBRUZZAS In My Hero Academia

Chapter 20: 18: The First Day - 5

I'm occasionally chilling in JaxWolf4's (Author of Nah, I'd Adapt) Discord Server. It's a chaotic lobotomy mess. Not for the faint of heart.

-Story Start-

All Might's presence here was no surprise to anyone.

He wasn't exactly... subtle when it came to announcing his status as the newest faculty member of U.A. High.

Nevertheless...

He's still Japan's Number One Hero - All Might.

The Symbol Of Peace.

An existence of mythic proportions.

A literal living legend, the single greatest figure to grace Japan since the very dawn of quirks.

A god amongst men, and now the untouchable myth given flesh before them as their teacher.

Thus, it was a given that most of the young Hero prospects would regress to the fanatical state of a five-year-old:

""ALL MIGHT!"" The classroom erupted with an excited shout of the Hero's name.

"Damn, I'm getting goosebumps! He's so manly!" Kirishima shivered excitedly at the sight of the hulking man.

"He's even got his Silver Age Costume on!" Uraraka exclaimed with a pointed finger.

Even Bakugo was doing his best to keep up appearances, but he couldn't wipe off that smirk.

Grinning in anticipation at having the actual Number One Hero as his Heroics Teacher.

As the classroom gushed at the presence of such an exalted figure, the reactions exhibited by those who had not grown up with this man's presence etched into every aspect of their society were, to say the least…

Somewhat Divergent.

Yuji would admit, he's a fan of All Might, but not to the rabid fanboyish level that all his fellow classmates were currently putting on display. Hell, even the silent Todoroki beside him was actually smiling for the first time since he met him.

Which isn't a long time, they'd only just met today... but still!

'I guess it's because they grew up with him?' Yuji sheepishly scratched his cheek at the over-the-top excitement at the sight of All Might.

However, Yuji's eyes narrowed at All Might in perplexion.

Upon noticing something... strange.

Yuji wasn't trying to be rude or nosy or anything...

He just can't help it.

His ability to see the 'Quirk' attached to other people's Souls.

There are people with Quirks.

There are people without them.

And then there are...

'Huh?' Yuji could only blink at seeing the oddity within All Might's Soul.

If Yuji were to describe it, every 'Quirk' attached to a Soul had some sort of factory that utilized as Aoi called it - 'Mostly Biomechanical Fuel in addition to an unknown and unobserved form of energy' to produce the result of said Quirk.

This unknown energy was not Cursed Energy, nor anything they were aware of - however the job of the factory was to produce it, and then 'Label' it in the outside world.

Tape Elbow Quirk - the factory produces the unknown energy and transforms it into tape through has of yet unobserved means.

Yuji sees the process, but he can't make heads or tails of it.

Invisibility Quirk - the factory produces the unknown energy and transforms it into a reflective membrane across the individual's skin or whatever it is.

However.

All Might's situation provided an outlier to what Yuji had learned over his months in this new Quirky Japan.

The strange energy permeated All Might's soul.

However...

"The factory... it's gone." Yuji's mouth hung loose, as he murmured his disbelief among the excited chaos.

No resupply, it was just... there.

Existing, waiting to be used.

Nevertheless... it cannot be refueled; a limited supply since the 'factory' has disappeared.

It was, bizarre.

Aoi, who sat in front, was always prepared to attend to his dear brother's voice.

And that admission prompted an arched eyebrow, "I see... that makes sense." He turned to the perplexed Yuji with a whisper which brought the pink-haired boy back to reality, "We shall discuss this in a more private setting." He nodded.

Yuji blinked, nodding in understanding.

'Does Aoi know something about this?' He couldn't help but wonder.

Yet his thoughts were cut short by All Might ceasing the adulations.

A loud, booming laugh reverberated once more as All Might's gigantic visage stood in front of the tiny desk, "HAHAHAHAHAHA! I AM DELIGHTED TO SEE YOU AS WELL, YOUNG HERO PROSPECTS!"

His gaze sharpened as the air tightened, stifling the chaos in an instant, "BUT I SUGGEST YOU KEEP THAT ENERGY FOR YOUR COMING LESSON... BATTLE TRIALS!"

...

At his announcement, it is as if the prior excitement did a complete 180.

Most groaned or sat with mixed feelings.

Or if you were of the more competitive bunch, like Bakugo or Aoi, a menacing gleeful grin decorated their faces.

Bakugo's eyes immediately shot toward the stoic figure of Aoi, "PAYBACK TIME YOU BASTARD!"

Aoi snorted, his confident grin persisting, "All bark, no bite."

In response, Bakugo's eyes twitched as his figure rose from his seat much to the dismay of his fellow classmates.

Only for All Might's booming voice and announcement to stop him in his tracks, "NOW! HEAD TOWARDS GROUND BETA! YOUR REQUESTED COSTUMES ARE IN THE DRESSING ROOMS!"

In a flash, he roared, "NOW I'M LEAVING OUT THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON! HAHAHAHAHAHHA!" His figure blurred as he moved at a speed that betrayed his brutish figure, blasting out of the door as his laughter echoed from the hallway.

Doing as prompted, the collective Class 1-A burst out of the doors in a rush towards Ground Beta to begin their very first Practical Lesson.

The reason for the rush?

They did feel a mixture of excitement and competitiveness, that is for certain.

The honest reason?

"I'M WILLING TO BET THIS SADISTIC SCHOOL'S GONNA GIVE THE LAST TO ARRIVE SOME KINDA PENALTY! THERE'S NO WAY I'M COMING IN LATE!" Kaminari cried out as he sprinted through the hallway.

"YEAH! FUCK THAT!" The still bruised Mineta readily agreed, his small legs running as fast as they could to not be last.

...

"I think they're overreacting," Yuji mentioned with a deadpan, being one of those who stuck to the back, no rush in his steps.

Aoi nodded matter-of-factly, "It is the fate of those hanging on the edge to startle easily and panic at the prospect of their imminent peril. Even the buzzing of a bee at your ear could distract you, cause your grip to falter, and lead to your fall."

Yuji waved him off, "I don't think it's that serious."

Eyeing the ceiling as he leisurely walked, he mentioned, "Though I guess I can understand the stringency. This isn't a job you can joke around with."

"Stringency? It seems all my efforts bore fruit, I expected nothing less from you my brother!"

"Oh shut up!"

"So Aizawa-sensei's words struck a chord with you, my friend?"

'He just immediately brushes over what he said with a change of topic… whatever.'

"They did, what about you?" He turned to Aoi.

"It is not much different from our time as Sorcerers. It is easier to visualize this Society as a Society in which everyone is imbued with a Cursed Technique."

Yuji knew what Aoi meant, but he couldn't help but compare this school to his time in Jujutsu High.

Here, there were many, many more students, as one point of difference.

Another is that Jujutsu High had more of a... "throw you in the water and see if you can swim" approach.

'Or maybe that was Gojo-sensei's approach.' Yuji contemplated.

Nevertheless, Yuji appreciated the fact that here it was a much more... family-friendly approach, albeit harsh and strict on the students.

His thoughts were cut short by Aoi's inquiry, "I'd like you ask you about the observation you made on All Might... I recall you murmuring his lack of a Quirk Factor."

"The inner factory." Yuji nodded.

"As you choose to understand it, anyway. I'll remind you, the factory is called a 'Quirk Factor'." Aoi corrected with a lecturing, stoic look and a raised finger.

Stroking his chin, Aoi's features hardened, "I am aware of All Might's steady decline. But to think his Quirk Factor is itself entirely missing... that is a worrying prospect indeed."

At the grim, thin line on Aoi's face, Yuji stopped in his tracks, "Worrying... how?"

A small bead of sweat trickled down the pink-haired former Sorcerer's face.

All Might was the Gojo Satoru of Japan.

Hell, he's even more than that in terms of impact.

Gojo Satoru was a figure known by a secret society within Japan.

But All Might?

'Let's be real... every second shop or company has either an 'All' or 'Might' in its name!' Yuji thought in bewilderment.

It was that ridiculous.

All Might stands as a deity-esque figure for Japan and even an influence so far-reaching as to be allegedly behind inspiring America's Number One and many others around the globe.

Yuji wasn't that stupid.

He knows that...

'If something were to happen to All Might, it'd be even worse than when Gojo-sensei was sealed!' That thought was what repeated at the forefront of his mind at that moment.

Aoi's reply came with a cool levelheadedness, "Three options." He lifted his hand as they stood in the hallway, their classmates rushing past them.

Lifting the first finger, he lectured, "An aspect of his unknown Quirk. After enough prominent use, given All Might's nearly record-breaking activity time - the 'Quirk Factor' deteriorated to the point of nonexistence."

"The issue with this theory is that there is no correlation between age and Quirk Factor effectiveness unless it is a Mutant Type, or there is a special condition set in the nature of the Quirk Factor itself."

Aoi continued, lifting a second theory, "The second option, is that the Quirk Factor had been given."

Then, he lifted a final finger, "The third... is that the Quirk Factor had been taken."

...

"Aren't two and three the same?" Yuji questioned.

Aoi nodded, "A keen eye, brother. But the reason I separated them is due to the third option being a separate instance. A mythical Villain that was capable of stealing Meta-abilities or Quirk Factors was rumored and even evidenced to exist."

...

"Wouldn't someone stealing All Might's Quirk mean big trouble?"

"It would." Aoi nodded.

"Which is why I find option three to be unlikely." He nodded.

"Stealing All Might's Quirk would give said Villain leeway to act as he pleased, so there should have been a tragedy unless the Villain has planned to conserve energy or delay his machination for reasons unknown."

Yuji's head was spinning at this point, only to blink back into reality at Aoi's firm nod.

"It is a matter I shall investigate, my friend... but this does serve as the explanation behind All Might's deteriorating state as of the past few years."

"You're pretty interested in All Might, I never took you for a fan of someone other than Takada-chan, Aoi," Yuji noted aloud.

Aoi snorted at that, "Nonsense. My interest in the man stems mostly from researching for my unpublished thesis."

...

"Thesis?" Yuji blinked.

Aoi wordlessly took out his phone from his pocket and quickly showed Yuji something on his screen.

Yuji's eyes narrowed as he read, and then gradually widened in disbelief as he read aloud:

"Symbol-less Japan: The Present And Future Of Quirk Japan - Todo Aoi."

"FIVE HUNDRED PAGES LONG?!" Yuji exclaimed in shock at the number of pages.

He turned to look at Aoi as if he were some kind of freak...

Which he was.

Aoi shrugged, "Tutoring you and Takada-chan was not my only pastime during our months of unemployment." He admitted matter of factly, with a proud smirk on his face.

"I thought you were busy setting the goons in the Ghetto straight?"

"That didn't take very long," Aoi mentioned casually.

...

Yuji could only gape at the thesis on the phone's screen, mumbling his conclusion on the matter:

"Unemployment is scary..."

Speaking of employment.

Somewhere in Musutafu, in the alleyway beside MightBurger, Choso sneezed as he threw out the garbage.

A small warm smile on his face, "I wonder how my little brothers are doing..."

-------------------------------

Ground Beta.

One of the many training areas inside U.A.'s vast Campus.

Much like most training areas - this was an urban environment.

A given, since most Villain activity occurs in such places.

Tall looming buildings, narrow streets, and a few trees decorate the urban jungle.

Also, they stood in front of All Might and some kind of mysterious box beside him.

Today, this was the setting for the Battle Trials that All Might mentioned.

"My God... that's 800 thousand yen per building..." The costumed Uraraka was frothing at the mouth, her expression pale.

"Wow, Uraraka-sensei... I thought those are 5 million per..."

"They've got Cementoss, they can cheapen costs." Uraraka sharply answered.

"My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined." Aoi frowned profoundly as he stood in Ground Beta alongside his fellow costumed Class 1-A.

Everyone looking rather Quirky, indeed.

Yuji smiled appreciatively, donning his signature look from Jujutsu High, "I'm pretty happy, the guys behind the costume did a great job!" He genuinely praised the hard-working people as he noted the flawless adherence to his design choice.

All Might, having heard of Aoi's loud complaint approached the hulking boy with an apologetic look.

"My apologies, Young Todo. But 'shirtless' is considered rather improper for a costume, if you could provide a good reason for it I could have a word with-"

Aoi cut him off, pointing a thumb and a deadpan at the 'costume' Yaoyorozu was wearing, "And that is allowed?"

All Might turned to look, sweat trickling down his face as he stuttered, "I-I believe she requested it since it is necessary for her to use her Quir-"

"Really?" Aoi repeated.

All Might gave it another thought, recalling the details of Yaoyorozu's Quirk as he frowned in defeat.

"I'll... look into the matter." All Might's shoulders slumped, as he quickly made a call to whomever to make sure things were going smoothly.

"Woah... he's bullying All Might!" Sero hummed in impression.

"I doubt it, ribbit."

"...Why were they looking at me?" Yaoyorozu innocently pointed a thumb at her costumed self.

Mineta invited himself into the conversation with a wry grin, "Because you look rather-"

His sentence was cut short as he sidestepped a slap from a snarling Jiro.

He protested with a raised finger, "Oi! I didn't even get to say anything!"

Only for him to snicker, his tone growing cheeky, "But jokes on you... I've adapted to women's slaps and-"

Jiro's earphone jacks flew at a blinding speed and stabbed his eyes, "MY EYESSSSSSSS!" He began to roll on the ground as he whimpered loudly.

With his phone call done, All Might clapped his hands incredibly loudly.

"ALRIGHT STUDENTS! THEY SAY COSTUMES MAKETH HEROES... AND WITH HOW YOU ALL LOOK? YOU, KIDS, EXEMPLIFY THAT FACT!"

He grinned widely and gave a thumbs-up, "YOU ALL LOOK LIKE PROPER, COOL HEROES!"

His announcement electrified the air, as everyone stood in excitement even though some had clear dread poorly hidden beneath it.

He began explaining as he took out a piece of paper, coughing to clear his voice.

"Today's Battle Trials will be simulating, as some of you might have guessed... Indoor Battles!" He gestured at one of the many buildings.

"If any of you have dabbled in statistics - you'll know that most types of Villian to Hero encounters happen indoors, moreover... the most devious and dangerous of Villains are encountered there!"

"A bomb, a secret weapon, a hostage... you, as Heroes are responsible for saving the hostage and stopping the Villain, having to fight on their turf!"

"They have the home advantage... the key to victory? Being far superior to the Villain!"

"Strategy, Strength, Unique and intelligent usage of Quirks as well as Teamwork!"

"You Heroes are rarely alone... but the same goes for the Villains."

"Mock two-on-two battles, totaling ten teams. Each pair simulates the Hero Team and The Villain Team respectively." He clicked on some kind of machinery and an impressive hologram appeared showcasing a cartoonish depiction of the Battle Trial.

"The Heroes' goal - capture both Villains or recover/touch the 'Secret Weapon' located in a static position within the building in fifteen minutes."

"The Villains' goal - capture both Heroes or protect the weapon for the span of fifteen minutes!"

Shoving his hand into his pocket, All Might withdrew the tape, "Wrapping anyone with this tape will count as a capture. From that point on, they will be considered captured and disqualified!"

Letting everyone digest the information, All Might nodded, "Any questions?"

Ilda's hand immediately shot sharply into the sky, posture straight as always, "Yes! All Might-sensei, how are the teams chosen?"

"By drawing lots, of course." All Might placed his hand on the conspicuous box that sat on the little table beside him.

Seeing the questioning looks from most of those present, All Might elaborated, "As Heroes, you will have to team up with countless other heroes you are unfamiliar with, due to ground situations or emergencies. You have to get used to working with strangers. My personal recommendation? Learn to be friendly!" He grinned.

Bakugo scoffed at the advice.

Whilst Tokoyami's gloom only grew more... gloomy.

"Now then! Line up and each draw out one slip of paper, my young shining prospects!" He gestured at the tiny box.

Without further prompting, everyone made a line and began to draw out papers.

Some prayed to be paired up with the top students, or at least, to be against the worst of students.

Eventually, everyone drew out their respective partners - announcing their Team and seeking out their fellow partners.

Either pleased or disappointed with one another.

"It seems, we must separate this time, my brother." Aoi shook his head sadly at Yuji.

"Can't be helped." He chuckled lightly.

As they both turned to look at their respective partners:

Team A - Yuji Itadori & Momo Yaoyorozu.

Team G - Aoi Todo & Minoru Mineta.

"Great, I'm with the Gorilla!" Mineta genuinely cheered with a tiny jump in the air.

All Might cut off everyone from explaining their Quirks, giving them no breathing room, "First Match! Team G as the Villains against Team D as the Heroes."

Mineta blinked, turning to look at Team D.

Paling upon realizing who they are.

Team D - Katsuki Bakugo & Shoto Todoroki.

A bloodthirsty smirk found its place on the costumed Bakugo's face, an expression unfit of any hero.

He approached Aoi with barely restrained excitement as he let loose tiny explosions from his palms, "GET READY TO BE MURDERED YOU FREAK!"

Aoi shook his head, "I'm afraid your poor taste will lead to your downfall... but do make this fun!" He grinned as well.

Whilst Todoroki could only stare at Aoi with a serious look, mumbling, "He's Number One."

...

Kaminari could only exclaim, "We've got a banger of a start!"

Internally happy he wasn't matched up against three of the four behemoths in the first match.

"I just hope they don't kill each other, ribbit," Tsuyu mentioned with an unbothered expression.

"Same." Yuji frowned with a slight sweatdrop.

Of all the matches possible.

This one?

Yikes.

Yuji's attention was taken by a gentle tap on his shoulder, he turned his head to meet the costumed figure of Yaoyorozu, "I believe it is best we weren't chosen first, it is an opportune moment to discuss our Quirks."

Yuji was about to nod, but All Might directed all the students, "Teams D & G! To Battle Building A! The rest of you, follow me to the observation room!" He led the charge.

And thus... The Battle Trials began.

To Be Continued!
