chapter 3
3: The Fated Encounter
Due to Mu Xinrou’s sudden attack, Wu Liang was unable to complete the discharge procedures in time.
So he had no choice but to spend another night in this luxurious hospital room.
The evening breeze was slightly chilly, causing the pure white curtains to tremble lightly.
In the deep of the night, the silver moon hung high in the sky, its fragmented silver light falling inside the room.
Wu Liang was sleeping peacefully under the blanket, his lips slightly curled as if he was having a beautiful dream…
“I’m peaceful my foot!”
With a kick, he threw off the blanket and sat up in bed, rubbing his temples with a headache.
You see, he had inexplicably traveled to a game world and become the villainous young master.
And with only one year left before the plot kills him, if he could still sleep soundly, that would truly be a sight to behold.
“That Yao Shi, deliberately not processing my discharge.”
Wu Liang frowned and muttered discontentedly, but he couldn’t entirely blame Yao Shi.
Because of Mu Xinrou’s pressure, Yao Shi had no choice but to have him observed for another night here.
After all, compared to his own commands, Mu Xinrou’s orders carried more weight.
“Whatever, it’s just for one night anyway.”
Wu Liang lay back on the bed, hands behind his head, resignedly speaking.
But to ask Wu Liang to sleep now? He had slept plenty during the day and was now surprisingly alert.
Not just alert, but if you asked Wu Liang to go rave at a gravesite, he’d be up for it.
“Let’s go out and see.”
Thinking this, Wu Liang tiptoed to the door, peering through the glass to check the corridor.
Once he confirmed it was empty, Wu Liang quietly slipped out.
“To think I’m the young master… and not a single bodyguard in sight…”
Wu Liang sighed as he scanned the deserted hallway.
It was like he was mocking himself, doubting the so-called power of the Wu family.
He was, after all, the Wu family’s young master, yet this wealthy Wu family didn’t even bother to assign him a few bodyguards. Quite the oversight.
“But isn’t it a bit too quiet?”
Wu Liang, sitting in the elevator, was puzzled. Even if a hospital isn’t busy at night, wasn’t this silence a bit too much?
Why hadn’t he seen a single soul on the entire floor before? Not even a nurse or doctor in sight.
Ding…
The crisp ring of the elevator bell sounded.
“Hey, did you hear? The Wu family has booked the entire 11th floor, quite the grand gesture.”
“Yeah, yeah, apparently some important member of the Wu family is hospitalized, that’s why they did it.”
“The other sisters said the Wu family originally planned to book the entire hospital, but couldn’t because it was too difficult to move the patients.”
Wu Liang stared blankly at the two nurses who hadn’t noticed him and were chatting away merrily.
For a moment, he was baffled. What did they just say? They booked the entire 11th floor???
No way, this is the top private hospital in Yanghai City.
Even those internationally renowned big shots don’t have that kind of clout… How can you just book it like that… Guess the Wu family has the biggest face…
“Yeah, the Wu family strictly forbids outsiders from going to the 11th floor, didn’t you see those burly bodyguards stationed at the elevator and entrance on the 10th floor?”
“It does seem like a VIP indeed, I’d really like to see who it is.”
The two nurses chatted obliviously, arm in arm, as the elevator reached the ground floor.
They left the elevator, intimately linked.
Leaving behind a stunned Wu Liang, his face a picture of shock, still inside the elevator.
“No wonder I didn’t see anyone on the 11th floor… So they moved everyone to the 10th floor to avoid disturbing my rest…”
Wu Liang, dragging his somewhat heavy legs, stepped out of the elevator, realizing he had underestimated the Wu family’s power.
While gaming, he never felt this overwhelming dominance, but now Wu Liang truly understood.
With money, one really could do anything.
“To avoid being recognized by the bodyguards, I should disguise myself…”
Wu Liang looked at the black-clad bodyguards roaming the lobby and immediately felt a pang in his stomach.
How could he, the proud young master of the Wu family, have to sneak around his own bodyguards like a thief?
…
…
…
After searching for most of the day, Wu Liang finally found a Kentucky Fried Chicken paper bag to put over his head, dodging the bodyguards at the entrance.
Under the courtyard’s streetlights sat a bench, and seeing no one around, Wu Liang walked over to rest for a moment.
The evening breeze carried a hint of chill, making Wu Liang, dressed only in a hospital gown, feel a bit shivery.
“Talk about bad luck, even if I’ve come here, I’ve only got a year left.”
Wu Liang sighed heavily.
With only a year left here, if he wanted to survive, he had to change.
Starting tomorrow, a unique new life awaited him.
“Never mind… I should head back…”
Wu Liang touched the Kentucky Fried Chicken paper bag on his head.
He had forgotten to mention earlier, no one should imitate this.
The fried chicken smell was just too strong, greasy and cloying, and could easily overwhelm those with sensitive noses.
“Why are you sitting here alone?”
Just as Wu Liang was about to take off the head cover and head back to the hospital.
He noticed a slender shadow cast on the ground before him.
“Are you a patient? Why are you sitting outside at this time? And why are you wearing such a strange thing?”
A bell-like pleasant female voice rang out again in front of Wu Liang.
The first thing that caught Wu Liang’s eyes was a pair of delicate black leather boots.
As Wu Liang’s gaze gradually moved upward, he saw a pair of long, moist jade legs paired with a red fringed skirt.
Dazzlingly beautiful, Wu Liang couldn’t help but take a few more glances.
The off-white clothing made her already fair skin look even more tender.
When Wu Liang’s eyes finally met her pretty face, he was stunned.
Her clear, bright pupils reflected the stars, her willowy eyebrows arched delicately, and her long lashes trembled slightly.
“He… He Xue??”
