The villain turns into the infatuated second male lead

Chapter 10

The clear and sweet female voice echoed several times in the elevator, making Xia Wanshi’s parents’ ears buzz. The couple instinctively covered their ears.

“Why are you shouting so loudly?” Xia’s mother looked up and down at her daughter, whom she hadn’t seen for half a month, feeling a bit puzzled.

Her also didn’t understand what his usually gentle and polite daughter meant, tentatively asking, “You aren’t sick, are you?”

Mother Xia knew her daughter’s temperament well; if something was unusual, there must be a reason. However, she hadn’t figured it out yet and joked casually, “Sick? I think she’s hiding a man inside.”

She remembered that Ling Su had specifically mentioned her daughter’s situation a few days ago. With Xia Wanshi’s current odd behavior, could it be that her perpetually oblivious daughter had finally learned to secretly develop a relationship with her fiancé?

Well, if that’s the case, they wouldn’t mind.

Though Xia’s mother was only joking, her guilty conscience and the fact that she accidentally hit the mark made Xia Wanshi’s face flush red. She waved her hand with an awkward smile, “No, I’m not hiding anyone.”

Hearing this, Xia’s mother looked suspiciously at her daughter’s slightly strange behavior. Realizing something was amiss, she smiled and said, “Aren’t you going to invite your parents in?”

To her, Ling Su and her daughter must have been spending time together over the past few days. It’s not surprising for a young girl to be shy about these things and react this way when discovered by her parents.

The engagement back then was just a casual agreement between the two families, but as Ling Su grew up to be outstanding and well-behaved, Xia’s mother grew fonder of him. Ling Su’s parents were also aware of his feelings for Xia Wanshi, making the childhood joke a reality.

Both parents were pleased with their relationship, ready to discuss marriage if they found Ling Su inside, preventing their daughter from being too restless and wanting to venture out.

The conversation outside the house was clearly heard by Yin Zhiyi and Qiu Yiyuan inside, instantly dispelling all their previous leisure and melancholy.

Qiu Yiyuan’s heart raced, and he clumsily stood up with his crutch, looking for a place to hide. Unfortunately, the room was warmly but simply furnished, with nowhere to hide a man of his size.

“Be careful.” Yin Zhiyi calmly supported the anxious Qiu Yiyuan, softly reminding him while looking around for a hiding spot. The living room was open and immediately ruled out.

“Her parents are here. What if they find us?” Qiu Yiyuan frowned at the calm person beside him.

“…” Yin Zhiyi raised an eyebrow, wondering why the male lead was so anxious and why he was dragged into it.

It’s indeed problematic if they find Qiu Yiyuan, but since Ling Su is Xia Wanshi’s nominal fiancé, being discovered wouldn’t be a big deal.

Xia Wanshi, also anxious, intimately took her mother’s hand and tried to persuade her parents, “Of course, come in and sit. Dad, Mom, I missed you so much. You don’t know how much I want to eat your cooking. How about I go home tonight and we have a family gathering?”

“We’re already at the door; we can cook here too,” Xia’s mother laughed.

“But I haven’t tidied up the place these past few days; it’s a bit messy…” Xia Wanshi hesitated, raising her voice a bit, hoping her childhood friend and Qiu Yiyuan would find a place to hide.

Her parents, seasoned in business, would surely recognize the heir of Haiyue Group if they saw him.

Knowing what her daughter was thinking, Xia’s mother smiled and patted her daughter’s silky hair, then quickly took the keys from her hand, tossing them to Father Xia, saying, “open the door.”

“Got it!”

“???” Xia Wanshi was momentarily stunned, never expecting her mother to be so direct. She watched in disbelief as her father swiftly unlocked the door and tried to stop him, but her mother skillfully thwarted her attempts.

Click.

As the door unlocked, her parents didn’t bother with their daughter anymore. Cold sweat broke out on Xia Wanshi’s face as she rushed inside to explain, “Dad, Mom, let me… uh?”

She blinked, looking around the empty and quiet living room, letting out a sigh of relief. It seemed her raised voice had worked.

“Why are you so nervous?” Her mother asked, her gaze fixed on her bedroom.

“I… I’ve grown up. Can’t I have my own secrets?” She scratched her cheek awkwardly.

Her parents exchanged glances, and after silently communicating, they split up—one went to the guest room, the other opened the master bedroom.

Xia Wanshi’s heart tightened again. Her abnormal behavior had piqued her mother’s curiosity, and now any further obstruction would be counterproductive.

If… if Dad asks about the guest room, she would just say it’s Ling Su.

They didn’t stay long in the two bedrooms. When they reappeared before her, she carefully observed them. Her father looked normal, but her mother seemed odd, making her guess where Ling Su and Qiu Yiyuan might be hiding.

“Ahem, did you see anything?” Her mother asked, looking around.

“No, why?” Her father scratched his head, looking disappointed as he sat on the living room sofa and stretched.

Seeing her father’s expression unchanged, Xia’s mother sighed in relief. Looking at her daughter’s nervous face, she found an excuse to pull her into the bedroom, pointing to the elaborate lace dress and black stockings on the bed, and asked, “Is this why you didn’t let us in?”

“Ah?” Xia Wanshi glanced at the Lolita dress she had tried on in the morning, realizing her mother had misunderstood. She hesitated to explain and then blushed, saying, “I was afraid you wouldn’t accept my hobby… uh, it’s not a strange dress.”

Her mother snorted, “You think I’m that old-fashioned? It’s just…”

Xia Wanshi’s mouth twitched, and she couldn’t hold back anymore, explaining to her mother.

While they debated the dress and stockings, inside the tightly closed music room, two ears were pressed against the wooden door, listening carefully to the sounds outside. Hearing the commotion but no one approaching, Qiu Yiyuan finally relaxed.

After Xia Wanshi warned them, they didn’t have much time. Qiu Yiyuan, with Yin Zhiyi’s help, clumsily made his way to the music room.

The voices outside were close, but they had to move carefully to avoid making noise, arriving just in time before the door opened. Normally, Xia Wanshi’s parents wouldn’t come in here.

“It’s still not safe here,” Yin Zhiyi said, standing up and looking around the music room filled with items, whispering in Qiu Yiyuan’s ear.

The soft breath against his ear made Qiu Yiyuan’s heart race, feeling like a feather was teasing him, causing an odd shiver.

Even though he knew the other was worried about making noise, his heart and body reacted uncontrollably.

He felt something was wrong, perhaps a reflex from disliking others being too close. He stepped back but forgot his leg injury, stumbling backward onto the plush rug.

His heart sank, his face pale. Such a loud noise would surely alert Xia Wanshi’s parents.

Yin Zhiyi didn’t expect this reaction, planning to find a hidden spot in the music room when he noticed Qiu Yiyuan’s ears turning red. As he hesitated, he saw the other man falling and quickly reached out, grabbing his wrist, only to be pulled down as well.

Bang.

The sudden noise in the music room reached the three outside, startling Father Xia, who almost dropped his vegetables. He looked at Mother Xia, who signaled to Xia Wanshi.

“I’ll check. Maybe something fell,” Xia Wanshi said with a forced smile, trying to appear calm.

She hurried to the music room, glancing at her mother, who wasn’t paying attention, and sighed in relief, locking the door behind her. Just as she was about to tell them to keep quiet, she was stunned by the scene inside.

In the elegant and serene music room, Yin Zhiyi was on top of Qiu Yiyuan, the latter lying on the soft rug, his handsome face covered in messy hair, eyes dark and obscure, looking up at Yin Zhiyi. His wrist was tightly held above him.

One of Yin Zhiyi’s knees was between Qiu Yiyuan’s legs, the summer heat transmitting through thin fabric, the other hand supporting the floor near his ear, looking like entwined lovers. Yin Zhiyi’s quick reaction avoided injury, only his knee bruised, unaware of their ambiguous position.

The dim light in the music room made their gazes meet in the air, their faces and heavy breathing the only things they noticed.

Qiu Yiyuan’s eyelid twitched, feeling an inexplicable attraction. That gentle face was so close, those black eyes calm but slightly worried. Ignoring his back pain, the thick tension in the air made it hard to breathe.
