[ artur wakes up from his dream. ]
A chilly autumn breeze swept through the park, rustling the vibrant leaves that blanketed the ground in shades of red, orange, and gold. A woman stood on the path, her gaze soft yet resolute as she observed a small group of kids nearby. Among them, a young boy was about to turn away, pretending not to notice the other children gathered around a lone figure who looked cornered, anxious, and out of place.
She placed a hand on the boy's shoulder, gently stopping him.
"Look," she murmured,
nodding toward the scene. The boy hesitated, uncertainty flickering across his face. He avoided her gaze,
mumbling, "It's not my business." She bent down, meeting his eye level, and spoke in a low, steady voice that held both kindness and conviction.
"The world is already full of people who look away," she said. "If you're strong enough to help someone, you have a duty to step up. Strength isn't just about standing tall; it's about standing up for others, too."
The boy's gaze lingered on her for a moment, and then he reluctantly nodded. Together, they walked over to the group, her presence casting an unspoken authority that made the other children disperse, leaving the isolated child to breathe a sigh of relief. As they walked home that day, the boy turned her words over in his mind, unaware of how deeply they would shape him.
That boy was Jack. He didn't know it then, but this moment would be one of the last peaceful memories with his Aunt, the woman who raised him after his parents divorced and left him in her care.
His parents had been distant figures, lost in their own conflicts and barely present in his life. But his Aunt became his safe haven, A source of guidance and warmth.
When he was 12, Jack's Life changed abruptly. His Aunt, Who had been everything to him, passed away unexpectedly. Without her , he was forced into a foster system which felt cold and indifferent.
In the years that followed, Jack grew tougher . The lesson his Aunt taught to him became his silent creed. If no one was going to look out for others, he would. He learned to rely on no one.
The kindness and vulnerability she had once encouraged in him became shielded by a hardened exterior.
Jack became the one to step in when someone needed help, guided by his Aunt's words that remained in his heart .
Though Life had changed him, her words became his anchor.
