The Were in The Wolf

Chapter 13: Do you hunt?

As soon as Queen Sabrina said that, the servant girls who had hidden and was secretly looking at Khan quickly scampered out of their spying position and ran away. The seem to have been discovered. Of course, it was no doubt that they were also curious about the handsome male being in the castle. They had infact, gossipped all night about him.

The Queen from the other kingdom let out a hearty laughter. Her son had just been complimented but what does it matter? A compliment to her son is the same as a compliment to her.

"Khan has always been the ladies man since he was little" she chipped in, making Khan flush with embarrassment.

Ahh so that was his name, 'Khan' Tahira thought.

Trying to return the compliment, she said, "Your daughter doesn't fall short in beauty too"

"I don't know what to do with her, her hair is always messy she doesn't want anyone touching it" Queen Sabrina retorted. This made the other queen to laugh out loud. She had wanted a daughter too, a daughter to doll up and turn into a perfect princess.

Tahira looked at her mom mouth agape, she was really hell bent on embarrassing her during the course of this meal. She cleared her throat and continued her meal.

Kalispel wanting to desperately start up a conversation

Khan signalled her mother to say something at least.

Kathleen decided to join the conversation as it was what her daughter wanted.

"From which Kingdom have you come?" Kathleen asked looking at the Queen from the other kingdom.

"We have come from Tokrantho, it was a pleasure spending some time with you here at Oregania" she said, not wanting the third party to know about their purpose of visit.

She had already sensed the tension between the two families. In as much as they both tried to hide it any wise person could sense it.

As Kathleen heard that her eyes widened, could this be the King and Queen from the other kingdom? Her demeanor changed drastically. If she was right then had they just truly come to visit their kingdom? Were they less busy? Or perhaps had they come to ask for Tahira's hand in marriage?

If she got married to the Prince from the other kingdom, it would only strengthen her rule as the leader and if that happens, the kingship would be drifted even farther away from her family she thought.

"Tokrantho, I heard you guys are good with hunts, my daughter is quite a good Hunter, isn't that right Kalispel?" Kathleen asked her daughter, in a bid to market her.

Kalispel was grateful that her mother understood her intentions and had given room for herself to engage in the conversation.

"That's right mother", then she knowingly shifted her gaze to Khan. "Do you like hunts? Do you hunt very often?" She asked him.

Khan's mother chipped into to answer, "He had loved hunts since he was little and would gladly hunt alone as leisure."

Hearing this, Kalispel let out a childish giggle as she was fascinated to hear just anything about Khan. Hearing it from Khan's mother herself, lightened up her mood but she had expected Khan to speak back at her.

"What about you, do you hunt?" The deep voice asked and everyone's attention moved to him, everyone except for Tahira who hadn't bothered to care about their conversation. She had already seen through Kathleen and Kalispel. It was expected, they never disappointed.

Kalispel had thought the question was directed to her as she was the one that asked the question first.

She went ahead to answer "I mostly Lead the hunt." She said with a smile feeling very impressed with herself.

"Tahira?" The voice came again jolting Tahira from her absent minded state.

"Yes?" She looked up.

"I asked if you hunted" Khan repeated the question.

"Oh, yes I do. Only when father permists." She said.

"I see, then do you remember me? From your previous hunt?" Tahira was surprised as to why he asked her that. She hadn't met him before but he was very insistent on making her believe she had.

"No I don't" she said curtly.

"I must be mistaken I guess." He decided to end it, seeing that she was utterly confused as to what he was saying.

Kalispel bit her lower lip in annoyance. She had thought he directed the question to her and she had answered embarrassing herself.

Why did he ask Tahira? Was he already interested in him? Well she wasn't about to let that happen.

"Too bad you're leaving today, I'd have loved to show you round the castle." Kalispel said.

Earlier that day, the king had sent a servant to invite them for dinner as their guests were to leave the previous day and had asked to see the entire family before leaving. Kalispel's family had already known that they were guests in the castle as they had perceived a strange scent, that was quite different from what they usually perceived in the kingdom. They knew they had guests, and they desperately wanted to find out who. As the opportunity had come to them, they eagerly prepared for the dinner.

Now having seen that they were royalties from the other kingdom, each and every one of them knew that these were people to get well acquainted with. They all had their own personal reasons.

Titus Von Druelli knew he had to make an acquaintance with the other kingdom as it might come in handy in the future

Kathleen Von Druelli wanted to make sure her daughter had a place. If she couldn't rule over Oregania as Queen, then, she would have to rule over Tokrantho as Queen.

Kalispel Von Druelli knew she had to have Khan to herself the moment she saw him. She liked powerful men. This one here wasn't just a prince, he was also very good looking.

"Thank you for the offer," Khan said, "but, I already strode the grounds." He said.

"How could you have done that without a guide?" Queen Sabrina asked him.

"Not to worry, Tahira was with me." He said curtly and Tahira was short of words. Why was he always dragging her into the conversation? She then finally decided to get a good look at this young man, and as she raised her eyes to look at him, she met the pair of green eyes, already fixated on her.

He seemed to be monitoring her and she felt discomforted about it. She also wondered if she probably ate badly and probably left crumbs. Subconsciously her fingers moved close to her lips, feeling some particles on her face, she quickly used her tongue to lick it off, this unladylike act of hers seemed to have been captured by both Khan, and Kalispel who was observing Khan. To dish gesture, he extended his soft table napkin to her.
