The Wrong Number Of Love

Chapter 15: CHAPTER 15: The Storm They Can't Escape

As winter began to wane, Liam's health started to show cracks in his seemingly endless energy. He brushed off Luna's concerns, insisting he was fine, but she noticed the way he winced when he thought she wasn't looking or the moments he paused to catch his breath.

One night, while working on their "world's tallest snowman" challenge, Liam collapsed in the snow. Luna screamed, rushing to his side. His face was pale, his breaths shallow, and for the first time, she saw the full weight of his condition.

By the time the ambulance arrived, Lun was in tears, clutching Liam's hand as he tried to reassure her. "Hey," he murmured weakly, "don't cry. I'm not done with you yet."

But his attempt at humor only made her cry harder.

At the hospital, the doctor confirmed Luna's worst fears: Liam's condition was progressing faster than expected. He needed to rest and undergo further tests.

Liam, however, was defiant. "I'm not spending my time hooked up to machines," he told Luna later. "I want to live, not just survive."

Luna didn't argue, but later that night, she broke down in Zee's arms. "What am I supposed to do?" she sobbed. "I don't want to lose him, but I can't keep pretending everything's okay."

Zee, ever the voice of reason, hugged her tightly. "You love him. That's all you can do. Love him with everything you have while you can."

The words struck a chord in Luna. She realized that no amount of planning or worrying could change the inevitable. All she could do was hold onto Liam and make every moment count.
