The Wrong Number Of Love

Chapter 30: CHAPTER 8: The Day Of The Competition

The school auditorium was buzzing with energy. Students, parents, and teachers filled the seats, chatting excitedly as they waited for the presentations to begin. Ella and Noah stood backstage, their project loaded onto a USB drive and ready to go.

"Breathe," Ella said, noticing Noah's fidgeting.

"I am breathing," he replied, bouncing on the balls of his feet.

"Not like you're about to sprint a marathon," Ella teased, nudging him.

Their turn came faster than they expected. As they stepped onto the stage, Ella felt her own nerves kick in. She glanced at Noah, who gave her a reassuring smile.

"We've got this," he whispered.

The lights dimmed, and their presentation began.

The first photo appeared on the screen, accompanied by Noah's gentle guitar strumming. The auditorium fell silent as the audience was drawn into the narrative.

The photos transitioned seamlessly, each telling a story of vulnerability and resilience. A burst of laughter erupted when the photobomb scene appeared, followed by audible gasps at the more emotional images.

When the song's chorus played—"It's okay to be a little broken"—Ella noticed people in the audience wiping their eyes.

As the final photo faded to black, the room erupted into applause. Ella and Noah exchanged a look of relief and pride as they bowed and exited the stage.
