There are still five minutes until the hero escapes from marriage.

Chapter 3. - If you want to, commit suicide

Gu Xianting really wanted to have a good talk with Wen Zhao this time. He couldn’t continue to be vague like this.

Otherwise, he would only let down both of them. Now that he truly loved someone, he couldn’t give Wen Zhao any hope.

Besides, Su Mengyao’s situation was still unknown, and he was very worried about her safety.

He had already made up his mind. He would do everything possible to compensate Wen Zhao, as long as she was willing to let him go, let Su Mengyao go.

Even if she made demands, as long as they were not excessive, he would agree. After all, no matter what feelings he had for her before, whatever kind of feelings they were, it was only after he was engaged to her that he met Su Mengyao and fell in love with her.

However, this slap shattered the slightest hint of reflection and guilt that had finally emerged in his heart.

Sure enough, Wen Zhao was a lunatic!

“You’re simply unreasonable! It’s because I’m crazy that I want to talk to you! Even if there’s no Mengyao, I would never fall in love with someone like you!” He stared at her angrily, as if he wanted to tear her apart.

Wen Zhao rubbed her hand expressionlessly. She had used all her strength in that slap, and indeed, as her physics teacher had said, action and reaction are equal.

While she had made the bastard in front of her bleed from the mouth, her hand also hurt.

“What did you just say?” She looked at him with a stern face.

“I said you’re a lunatic!” Gu Xianting didn’t care at all. He lifted the blanket and, regardless of his current state of undress, he had to leave here. He couldn’t bear to breathe the same air as Wen Zhao for another minute. “Get out of my way!”

He pushed Wen Zhao, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, aside and grabbed the bedsheet, wrapping himself up like a cloak. He walked towards the guest room door in large strides.

Wen Zhao stumbled from the push, but there was no resentment on her face. Her eyes were filled with a mocking smirk, like a cat playing with a mouse. “What’s wrong? Feeling ashamed and angry now? If you knew I had already captured your true love, wouldn’t you want to kill me?”

With his hand already on the door handle, he froze in place. He turned his head to look at her in disbelief. “Wen Zhao, how could you be so vicious?”

“Coming from you, that’s quite something.” She stood up slowly. Her hair was still dripping with water, falling onto the floor along her pristine white back. “Haven’t you always thought I was vicious? Now that I’m doing something a vicious woman should do, why are you so surprised?”

He felt a surge of rage in his head. His breathing intensified, and red veins bulged in his eyes due to his extreme anger.

“Oh, I forgot to tell you.” She walked up to him. She stood still, tilting her head slightly, meeting his murderous gaze head-on. “I took you away from the wedding, and within minutes, your true love arrived at the wedding venue.”

A buzzing noise filled Gu Xianting’s mind, and darkness swirled before his eyes. “You lied to me. Your people were watching her all the time. How could she possibly go to the wedding venue?”

“Though he said so, he believed it to some extent. He recalled the commotion in the banquet hall before being knocked out by her.

It must have been caused by Su Mengyao. His heart ached; Mengyao must love him deeply.

“Yeah, despite my people guarding tightly, knowing you were going to marry me, she still came to the wedding venue. You must know why,” Wen Zhao stared coldly at him.

“The one who flirts first is shameless. She was even trying to steal from me. Why shouldn’t I catch a thief?”

“I’m not your property!” Gu Xianting felt his sanity crumbling. “What did you do to her?”

“Why so nervous? Just had my bodyguards invite her for tea in the basement. Worried I’d kill her?” She smirked maliciously.

His tension snapped. He felt his blood boiling, mind going blank. It wasn’t until he came to his senses that he realized one of his hands was choking her, whose hand dug into his arm, sharp nails drawing blood.

“Don’t worry,” Wen Zhao’s face turned purple, but the evil grin remained. “Killing her would be too easy. She has important tasks ahead. How could she die now?”

“That’s just great!” His eyes were bloodshot. In that moment, he just wanted to kill this woman! How could there be such a malicious woman like her in this world?

If she died, there would be no obstacle between them. He would spend his life making up for Mengyao’s suffering, pampering her until she was the happiest woman alive.

In his mind, the beautiful and happy scene drove him to grip Wen Zhao’s hand tighter and tighter, watching as her pupils dilated. He felt a retaliatory pleasure knowing that he could easily dispose of her after his demise, thanks to their isolated location.

However, the next moment, he felt a powerful impact, followed by an electric shock coursing through his body, causing him to collapse onto the coffee table, his head hitting it hard, blood staining the white sheet wrapped around him.

Wen Zhao, panting heavily, checked her neck with the hand stained by Gu Xianting’s blood, revealing a compact high-voltage pulse electric shock wooden warehouse in her other hand.

Without sparing a glance at the injured Gu Xianting, she calmly walked into the bathroom.

In the mirror of the bathroom, the woman’s pale face due to lack of oxygen was reflected, the large strangulation marks on her neck clearly visible, indicating that the person who left this mark truly intended to kill her.

There was nothing special on her face because this was something she had long anticipated.

She turned on the faucet, letting the cold water flow over her hand, watching as the clean water gradually washed away the blood.

The phone placed in the living room rang at this moment. She calmly dried her hands before picking up the phone and answering, bringing it close to her ear.

“BOSS, Miss Su refuses to eat and has been causing a scene. She insists on seeing you, threatening to commit suicide otherwise,” came the somewhat dispirited voice of the bodyguard on the other end of the line. It seemed that Miss Su was not someone to be trifled with.

“Give her the phone,” Wen Zhao’s tone was calm, completely unlike someone who had just experienced a thrilling crisis and walked away from the brink of death.

Soon, a trembling voice came from the other end of the phone, “Miss Wen.”

The voice was close, and Wen Zhao, reborn and returning, had her first conversation with Su Mengyao.

Unexpectedly, Wen Zhao’s emotions were very stable. In her past life, every time she heard this voice after this woman completely stole Gu Xianting away, she would feel irritated, wishing she could kill her.

“Miss Su, are you not satisfied with my hospitality?” Her tone was faint, “Or would you like to change your accommodations?”

On the phone, there was a hurried and unstable breath, seemingly provoked by Wen Zhao’s words. “Miss Wen, what you’re doing is illegal imprisonment, it’s a crime.

You can’t treat me like this. I know you blame me, but feelings are uncontrollable. I’ve tried to give up, but I can’t.”

“That’s your business.” If it were in the past, she would have definitely been driven to lose her reason by hearing these words.

However, whether it was because she had died once, or because the sea was too cold, causing her originally boiling blood to cool completely, she didn’t lose control in the slightest when she heard these words. “Is that all you wanted to say to me? If so, don’t waste my time.”

She didn’t want to continue discussing these boring topics with this woman. She had many more important things to accomplish.

“Wait!” Su Mengyao’s voice was clearly panicked. “Miss Wen, I won’t say these things anymore, but why are you keeping me here? What do you want to do?”

“You stole from me, so of course I want it back,” Wen Zhao walked forward, holding the phone. She returned to the living room, looking at Gu Xianting still unconscious on the ground. “You stay put. Once I get back what’s mine, you’ll be free.

Of course, if you don’t cooperate, that’s fine too. You can go die. If you choose suicide, you won’t dirty my hands.”

With that said, without waiting for her to respond, she ended the call directly.

She walked into the study, opened her laptop, and glanced at the online public opinion. As the top family in Li City and the heirs of the Wen and Gu families, their wedding couldn’t go unnoticed.

Last time, Gu Xianting completely disregarded the face of both families and her feelings, leaving her at the altar in front of everyone, causing a huge stir online.

This time, she took the initiative and whisked him away before any rumors could spread. She issued a statement ahead of time, explaining the premature end of the wedding due to the bride’s illness, ensuring that the alliance between the Gu and Wen families would not be canceled.

Beneath the announcement was a picture of her and Gu Xianting’s marriage certificate. The comments were filled with blessings and envy, praising their childhood sweethearts’ match, talent, and compatibility, portraying it as the ideal marriage.

Perhaps some of those well-wishers were the same people who cursed her on her Weibo in her past life. She closed her Weibo and began to methodically handle the company’s affairs.

Since her eighteenth birthday, she had been involved in the Wen Group, and after five years, she had proven herself. Now she was the current head of the group.

The benefits brought by the alliance between the Wen and Gu families were far more than just simple addition, as the stock of the Wen family almost hit the limit up.

After dealing with business matters, she happily called the Gu family’s old house, telling them that she and Gu Xianting had already arrived at their pre-arranged honeymoon destination.

No one doubted her words because her tone was genuinely infectious, even though there was no trace of a smile on her face at the moment.

After hanging up the phone, she synchronized several sets of photos on social media, all with the location tagged as their honeymoon destination.

After doing all this, she finally stood up and walked out. In the living room, Gu Xianting still hadn’t regained consciousness. Because of excessive blood loss, his face was pale, and his lips were devoid of color.

She slowly squatted down beside him. She extended a finger and pressed it against his heart.

“Thump, thump, thump—”

The heartbeat was strong, and his body temperature hadn’t decreased due to blood loss.

“So, why treat me so coldly?” She sighed, “Why betray me?”

In the depths of her memory, there was a young man with red lips and white teeth, full of spirit, looking at her with bright eyes. He said, “I will never, ever betray you. If I do, let me die a miserable death!”

Gu Xianting probably didn’t remember the words he once said himself, but it didn’t matter. Even if he forgot, she remembered.

Meanwhile, in the basement beneath the busiest nightclub in Li City, Su Mengyao, on the verge of starvation, sat in a corner, in a sorry state.

She was terrified, not understanding why she had to endure such things, just because she couldn’t help but love someone.

“Because you’re the favored heroine of the world.”

She suddenly heard this voice, instinctively wanting to scream, but the next second, she felt as if her whole body had been frozen in place, her face showing terror, mouth wide open, but her voice stifled in her throat.
