They Made Me Do It

Chapter 2: Sin of Lust

Dylan shut the door behind him, leaning against it while panting heavily. After the incident on the company roof, he got back home as soon as possible.

He needed a safe space where he could process everything that happened tonight.

Dylan lived in a three-bedroom apartment, his living room decorated with gray couches, gray floor mats, similar colored furniture, and curtains.

Taking off his shoes, Dylan put on his gray bunny flip-flops before stepping into the living room; his eyes shifted to the wall clock hung over the flat-screen TV.

"11: 30…" he mumbled under his breath before running upstairs.

Entering his room, Dylan went straight to the bathroom and went straight to the mirror.

"What the hell?" Dylan mumbled, stunned to see his brown iris had turned violet. "It wasn't a dream?"

Dylan's gaze shifted to the stats tucked away at the right corner of his eyes.

"Everything is zero except intelligence? Does that mean I'm useless at everything else?" Dylan blurted out, feeling slightly insulted by the system.

But then again, it made sense.

Dylan undid his tie and unbuttoned his shirt, revealing his bare chest. His face was plain, simple, and easy to draw, while his body was nothing to write home about.

He lacked the looks and charisma. This, alongside their physique and vitality, was barely average. The only thing he excelled had to do with his intelligence.

Looking at the stats again, Dylan couldn't help but admit it was accurate.

"Does this mean I can improve myself just by adding these points?" Dylan couldn't help but ask.

{Yes.}

The response made Dylan jerk back in shock, he wanted to expect the system to respond directly.

"Okay… okay…. Since I need a point in charisma to use the charm skill, I'll put a point there." Dylan muttered thoughtfully.

{1 point → Charisma}

Right before his eyes, Dylan saw his face undergo a magical transformation. His circular-shaped face shifted, turning oval, and the violet hue of his iris brightened.

Like a human starved of beauty all his life, Dylan was quick to notice the minor changes and how they improved his overall appearance. His hands trickled down his improved jawline.

Waaaah!

Dylan's eyes dilated in shock, he found it hard to hide his excitement.

"Everything to Charisma, put everything to Charisma!" He said impulsively.

{2 points → Charisma}

Dylan's vision blurred, his skin scorching like it was lit ablaze. Relying on memories he found the bathtub and jumped in.

"Aah!" He groaned, beads of sweat running down his face.

Splash!

Water overflowed from the edges, splashing as Dylan gritted his teeth in pain, steam escaping the bathtub and feeling the room.

— Black Sheep Law firm, Chicago —

The front doors slid open as a young man in his late twenties walked in, dressed in a tight-fit black suit. His body frame, his posture, and each step he took radiated elegance, and his fair skin gave him a delicate look.

Eyes fell on Dylan's figure as he walked through the receptionist room, their gaze fixated on him until he entered the elevator.

"My God, was that Dylan?" someone blurted out.

Huff!

Dylan exhaled heavily as soon as he entered the elevator; he felt like a sheep walking through a wolf's den. But he couldn't blame them, looking at his reflection on the glass wall, he felt stunned.

"3 points changed everything." Dylan rubbed his chin, his eyes squinting.

Dylan had lost the weight the system deemed excessive. His nose was straightened, his eyelashes slightly longer, while his eyelids were darker.

His wrinkles, pimples, dimples, and all kinds of skin infections were gone, giving him smooth, glowing skin. Dylan had also noticed his voice had deepened slightly, and his hair gained two purple stripes.

While the changes were subtle, they improved his looks from a five to a solid seven.

Ding!

The elevator door slid open as two familiar figures walked hand in hand.

"Nate… Aria." Dylan nodded at the two, his gaze finding her interlocked hands.

Nathaniel Cross, popularly known as Nate, was the Chicago Branch senior associate. His direct superior, who he caught sleeping with his fiance in his home.

Dylan attempted to take up the issue with the company HR, but he was advised to abandon the plan because Nate was associated with someone in the Black Sheep law firm headquarters in New York. Since he didn't take any video evidence to prove it happened, he couldn't take legal action.

He had to swallow his pride and continue working for the man who his fiance had an affair with.

"Dylan?" Nate muttered in disbelief as he staggered into the elevator.

If the old Dylan was average-looking, Nate was below average at best. He suffered from a genetic disease of Alopecia Areata; the man was nearly bald, and he was only 35.

The man was 5'9'', had a crooked nose, and had a messy mustache. Maybe it was due to the improvement of his looks, but Dylan became overly aware of Nate's imperfections, and it left him disgusted.

{She left you for this… just for a few dollars? Doesn't that piss you off?} A cold, sinister voice rang in Dylan's subconscious, his eyes tightening.

"Is that you, Dylan?" Aria's familiar voice sounded disgusting, images of that day flashing through his eyes.

The Dylan standing in front of them was different, the difference wasn't massive but precise. After the incident, he couldn't look Nate in the eyes, but it was different now.

Dylan stood, ignoring their greetings and his gaze glued to Nate's. The pair immediately regretted entering the elevator, they silently wished they had taken the stairs.
