Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Emergence of a King
The sky had turned pitch black as if a storm was brewing. Then out of the clouds there was a bloodcurdling roar.
"What in the world was that?" "Fire" asked slightly shaken by what was unfolding in front of him.
Then descending from the sky was a massive claw that launched itself at "Fire". He had managed to dodge and the claw ripped the ground in front of him apart. As the claw retreated, the body that was connected now began to make its descent into the arena, and revealed its terrible monstrous form.

Special Ability: Monster in the Mirror
"Hey is that even legal? He switched fighters! I think." "Fire" protested to the referee.
"We were notified by the Orendish team beforehand, and this is a part of his special ability and therefore is allowed." The referee said, clearly afraid to be near the monster that had appeared.
Fargusan's ability, Man in the Mirror, allowed him to access his mirror dimension by reciting the name of his ability in front of any mirrored surface. When he entered the mirror dimension he released the monster that he had sealed within it. The origin of the monster that dwelled within the mirror dimension was unknown, but its power, was legendary.
"Whatever, it doesn't make a difference to me! I'll take you down no matter what you throw at me!" "Fire" howled as he launched an attack with his flame sword.
Every attack he made did minimal damage, but it all healed immediately. The monster went on to completely dominate "Fire", with every attack crushing him. It was all he could do to avoid fatal damage. His chances of victory were looking slim.
"Man I'm in a tough situation. I don't know what I'm supposed to do this thing is way too strong, nothing I do is working. "War" is a fighting genius, and "Wind" is a regular genius, they would know what to do. I gotta think what can I do !?!?" "Fire" thought to himself.
"This looks bad, is there any way for "Fire" to win now?" "Water" asked as he entered the room.
"I'm glad to see that you're alright after your match. But yes, he's in trouble, it's clear that he doesn't have a chance of winning through brute force. That being said there is one way for him to win, though it does require him to use his head so…." "Wind" said.
"So there's no way he can win because he's an idiot." "War" said seemingly finishing "Wind's" thought even while in a different room.
"So you think that this match will be our victory?" The princess asked.
"Yeah, unless "Fire" can figure it out." "War" replied, "You gotta figure it out man." He thought while staring daggers at "Fire".
Suddenly "Fire" got a chill down his spine.
"Eh, I can feel "War" burning a hole in the back of my head with his stare. He clearly knows what I need to do to win. If only he could tell me!" "Fire" thought desperately, "He's just looking at me it's starting to make me nervous. Looking… looking… Oh! I think I got it!"
"Fire" started running towards the monster, using his flame sword to deflect the oncoming attacks as best he could. He then climbed the monster's body and eventually reached its face.
Firebolt Arrow!!!!
He launched his attack directly into the monster's eyes, but when the smoke cleared it had no effect, and it had caught "Fire" in its hands. Once it caught him it squeezed his body crushing his left arm and shattering his ribs. However one of his arms had avoided getting caught in the monster's grasp. In that hand he was holding the mirror Fargusan had used at the beginning of the match.
"His only hope is to seal the monster back in the mirror. However, there are three difficulties with this strategy.
There's no way of knowing if the same phrase will activate the ability again. If that's the case, then there's no way of knowing what phrase will activate it …" "Wind" thought.
"The third is the most crucial part, we don't actually know if it's even possible to activate the ability externally. Therefore this is an all or nothing gamble. If he fails to seal the monster here he's dead for sure." "War" said.
"The question now is what is he going to say?" "Wind" thought to himself.
"Fire" lifted the mirror to the monster's face and screamed, "Monster in the mirror!!"
"What? That's not the phrase he used before, but will it work? Why did he use that phrase? How did he figure out the right phrase?" These were all questions that "War" and "Wind" asked themselves.
"Oh crap! I meant to say the same thing he said before, but I panicked and said something else! I hope it still works!" "Fire" thought.
A moment after "Fire" said the phrase the monster disappeared, and Fargusan reappeared and the two competitors fell to the ground.
"Ha, I guess that's the definition of dumb luck." "War" chuckled to himself.
The two started to stand up at the same time and they both looked at the mirror that fell in between them, and Fargusan started to reach for it.
"Oh no you don't!" "Fire shouted as he stomped the mirror crushing it.
Spiral Flame Lance!!!!
A spiraling beam of flames shot from his hand and ran through Fargusan's chest killing him instantly.
"YEEESSSS!!!!!!!!" "Fire" gave a victorious shout after he had pulled victory out of the jaws of defeat.
"That was a close call, I really thought he might have been killed by that monster." "Wind" said, breathing a sigh of relief.
"Hmm, I have to say I didn't think that Farg, would get killed." One of the remaining Orendish fighters said.
"Yes, but this was one of the scenarios that we predicted could happen." The other fighter said.
"Yeah this is the absolute worst case scenario…. for them." He said.
Fargusan's corpse suddenly started to rumble, and suddenly a large, grotesque mass of flesh was expelled from his body. As it convulsed it reformed itself into the monster from before, only at this time it was even larger than it was before.
"With Farg dead, the monster he had sealed inside him will run wild. Plus, there's now no way to seal it back in the mirror dimension. The monster is also stronger now that Farg isn't holding its power back. There's no way the Imperial can win now." The Orendish fighter said.
"What's going on you gotta be kidding me! I killed him, I don't really have to fight this thing again do I?" "Fire" asked, desperately trying to find a way out of the situation. However, much to his dismay, he was told by the officials that his fight wasn't over until the monster was dead.
The announcement came from over the loud speakers, as most of the non-combatants were evacuating the arena.
"Princess we need you to evacuate right now! This place isn't safe!" A panicked royal solider said as he burst into the princess's suite.
"I can't leave, I promised myself that I would see this through to the end no matter what." She replied.
"But princess!"
"That's enough I'll be perfectly safe here anyway with Sir "War" here to protect me." She said as "War" put a thumbs up seemingly to confirm he would keep the princess safe. Satisfied with this the soldier ran away to safely.
"That being said, what are you going to do Sir "War"?" She asked.
"Don't worry. After "Fire" is killed by that monster I'll kill it. Everyone else should be safe." "War" replied.
"You don't think he has a chance of winning anymore? If so why don't you save him now." The princess asked.
"Unfortunately, the only chance he had to win slipped away when that monster came back. I wish I could save him now but he's a warrior it would be dishonorable to interfere with his dual." "War" said.
"FIRE"!!!! THE ENEMY IS IN FRONT OF YOU STEP FORWARD AND FIGHT!!!!!" "War" shouted down to "Fire".
"Eh, I was kinda hoping he'd swoop down and save me, but he can be mercilessly ridged about this kinda stuff. I know that if I actually asked him to save me he probably would, but there's no way I could live with myself if I had to be saved from a dual. I don't have a choice I have to fight!" "Fire" thought to himself.
The monster unleashed attacks more horrible than any it had used before and "Fire" was helpless to stop any of them.
"I really am going to die here. The next attack will probably do me in. Man, I really wanted to avoid using HIS power, but I guess it's better than dying. Barely." "Fire" thought
